- I honestly captured this video in one attempt, and with one take, during a solo rehearsal, hence the occasional fluffs. But a very dear friend of mine has been encouraging me to work on this song and to try and do it justice. So, Courtney, this is for you! :)
The song was written and originally recorded by English singer-songwriter Black (real name Colin Vearncombe) for his 1987 debut album, Wonderful Life. It was first released as a single in 1986 and peaked at number 72 on the UK Singles Chart. It peaked at number 8 on its second release in August 1987, also becoming a top-10 hit in Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

Barley the Badass strikes again! I really enjoyed the slightly faster tempo and lighter vocal tone. It lends a warmer color from the original version that makes for a cleaner, easier listen. Black's version is more cerebral and introspective, but this Badass Barley version feels more wistful and inviting; I may venture to say I prefer this cover to the original.
