a little side note, when doing the verses, right as soon as you finish hitting the palm mutes, use your spare 3 fingers on your fretting hand to lightly slap the strings as you are loosening your grip on the chord. It creates an identical tick with the track and helps your picking really lock in with the drums.
So, I have a quick question: When you play the breakdown, what are you (and ADTR) doing differently for the third repeat (aside from letting the notes ring out)? My guess is that either the whole thing is palm muted w/ a heavy palm mute on the third repeat or it is played w/o any palm mute except for the third repeat. I've tried since the song came out, but no matter what, I'm never satisfied w/ any of my results. And, also, sorry for seeming rude since I didn't start w/ this, but stellar cover! I really liked the tone and I loved the audio mixing too!
Doesn’t seem rude at all man! Nothing to apologise for! The third repeat is a mix of palm muting and open playing but higher up on the neck. From what I can hear listening to it again. Thank you man, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate the kind words! Means a lot! 👊🏻
I actually will shift my hand just a tiny bit further back on the bridge to let a little more grittiness through. Its almost like a half-roll of my hand. I also use my volume knob on the axe to control the amount of gain, makes switching between that open riff, to the verse, and then the breakdown super simple. just roll the volume knob up a pinch and youll nail it too
Curious, are you running a 25" scale typical for PRS, or did you get a 25.5" PRS (there aren't many)? Running that 56 has to beloose as hell. A 56 on my 27" scale bari for A is way too light, I won't use anything less than a 60
It is a typical 25”. It was a little loose but wasn’t beyond the point of unplayability :) got a 7 string coming soon so that’ll be taking over the low tunings :)
@@TylerPace thats awesome brother, which 7 is it? Ive got an 2020 RGDR4327(26.5" scale baritone 7 with mahogany body) on the way, and Im using now a DCM100 (26.5" scale baritone 7 with mahogany body), Fishman Fluence Modern pickup. I recently traded off my Axe Palace SPOT model 27" scale basswood RG2027XLS for the DCM. Single handedly one of the BEST tonewood + pickup partnership. The warmth of the Mahogany tames the harshness in the Fluence Modern for such a crystal clear, very percussive yet full sound. Cant recommend this combination enough. If you have a mahogany bodied 7, i would HIGHLY recommend putting a Fluence Modern in the bridge. They come in passive sizes too so that you dont have to permanently modify your guitar like you used to have to do with EMG707s. to be quite honest, the DCM + Fishman Fluence Modern sounds closer to DIno Cazares' tone than his own signature pickup from Seymour Duncan (talking about both the Blackouts that Dino helped bring about, and his Retribution pickup which came in the DCM. The rosewood fretboard also adds more warmth than the ebony thats coming on the RGDR. Depending on how much brightness the ebony board brings to the equation, I may end up going for the darker toned Stephen Carpenter signature Fishman FLuences.
It's because of your EQ or pickups being used. Lundgrens, Bareknuckles, and Fishman Fluences are the best for A and below. I rock Lundgren Black Heavens in all of my baritones
Also, putting a tube screamer in your preamp signal chain will help you exponentially. No gain, everything else at 12 o'clock. Turn the tone knob on it so that it's barely past 12, this removes alot of flubbiness from your signal before it hits your amp. Try it, you'll see why it's our secret weapon

it also helps to mute your hands movement from 8-10-12

Thanks dude!
It’s sounds out of tune and sounds like your interface is introducing some kind of latency...

Doooopppeee
Thanks bro! 👊🏻👊🏻
Sick cover. What tuning is this?
Thanks man! Drop A
Excellent work, and quick too! What gauge strings do you have on the PRS?
Thanks man! The low E is a .56 I believe. Can’t quite remember off the top of my head.

Have you ever noticed that when you do a low A, it doesn't really come out all that defined?
