6 reasons why novice drivers get into crashes: - distracted driving - no seatbelt use - excessive speeding - partying inside the vehicle - racing and stunts - drinking and driving
One thing that happens tho is that when you become the one kid with your lisence, all the sudden every person in your school thag you don’t even know try’s to become your “friend” and ask for rides. Don’t give into that shit :) I’ve pushed past it, and I’ve now been graduated since 2020 and still one of the safest drivers out of almost all my friends that I know. I don’t let stupid shit slide while I’m driving
Seeing this I am even more appreciative that my dad took my driving lessons with him seriously. He would always remind me to look in my side and rear view mirrors, look ahead for cars coming out of driveways and pedestrians on the sidewalk as they could suddenly jwalk. It’s such a shame that so many teens are reckless and are blind to the potential risks of driving.
As a 17 year old, who drives, I hate those type of people who carelessly drive. Many of my friens try to distract me as I drive so I tend to not go with them. I find all people around me are very reckless and immature so no wonder they cant be trusted with driving. Maybe I am too mature for my age, but teens should NOT be allowed to drive.
Same here. I work at a grocery store, and I have seen many teens speeding through the parking lot. It’s very stupid, and on top of it it’s also careless driving. Parents need to be tough on their teenagers, and tell them right from wrong when behind the wheel of a car
It’s not funny! When I was barely 18, as an inexperienced driver, a situation came up that I couldn’t handle, I over corrected. The truck I was driving rolled. My baby daughter, Tammy, 10 months old, DIED. There were no safety devices back then ei seatbelts and safety baby car seats. Everything safety wise is available to you now and your parents, all your childhood, made sure you were buckled in! Honour them and keep doing it! I am old now and I know for a fact that you pay the price in your mind for the rest of your life. You carry that with you like a heavy backpack forever. Just a terrible terrible situation to be involved in, when someone dies or is handicapped in some way for life. Plus so many people suffer the horrendous loss: parents, grandparents, extended family and on and on. Please be smart.
More like the retarded ones and then I’m actually the opposite but beyond in a partially bad way and I overthink these things (and just most things in general) way too much. I legit stopped so many times (not just because of the main points, but also just anything in general) & I only watch these types of videos to react to them/just to watch and find out what happens, and then this one was specifically also for Driver’s Ed Class. I remember watching this as a 16 year old kid and having a different mindset. I defiantly drove slower & more careful after watching this video. Now as an adult I understand the danger of reckless driving when as a teen I didn’t always believe it was dangerous. Seeing these parents crying absolutely broke my heart and still does to this day!

I do feel empathy for all parents who have lost a child. I am one of the lucky ones who made a clear example of my eldest child who was speeding in a residential area and crashed into 3 other vehicles. This was after he attended an advanced driving course that emphasises on speeding and the consciousnesses. My younger children learnt from his mistakes and I thank god, 20 year on and they are all very good drivers now. Here in AU, 18 yr olds can get their licenses, only after 2 years and 120 hours of driving experience. They are on red probationary plates for the first year, this means zero blood alcohol and drug levels, only one passenger 18-22 years old, no phone and hands free phone and no towing. Green P for the next 2 years and again no alcohol or drug levels. Even with these restrictions they account for highest fatal road fatalities.
Great video; trying to slowly teach my wife who grew up in an area where woman rarely drive and mass transit more utilized as well as a relative that is a functional disabled adult but had not driven for many years. Everyone’s learning ability is different but technology has only added to every ones distractions. I grew up in a time of less limits (and yes perhaps unfair); but risks in my time and surroundings were limited. I began driving at 8 but only on private rural land and those lessons were short but taught me to be scared frankly. I am not advocating teaching people that young to drive
but just like gun safety in schools or pregnancy we use to listen and be fearful and had more time to understand the consequences. I don’t have all the answers, and again I was a quick learner, but not all are in understanding consequences or just applied abilities; do believe that we can do more to train longer and in safer conditions but in some situations setting limits is key; teaching maintenance or how to fix; riding or pushing a lawn mower or other small engine machines can be a powerful lesson in teaching use, maintenance, and therefore respect and responsibility for equipment. Perhaps I will receive hate messages with these thoughts ( as all too often these days); but I truly believe we can do a better job in training young adults or people of any age by slowly grooming them into driving and responsibility even by age 16 (when yes typically we are less rational at that age). We just sometimes need to be scared into limits and responsibility over the course of a longer time period to fully accept. Frankly 6 months and or 10 (even 50) hours is just not going to cut it most times in preparation behind the wheel. P.S. if you are young attempt to obtain a CDL license; it will open doors even if you never use but will help you quantify the difference between good and bad driving just in learning and obtaining
You said you began driving on farmland at 8. My dad didnt own land, but when I was 8 he used to take me out to the pasture & put me behind the wheel. The drivers seat was moved all the way forward, & I had to reach the pedals with my toes. I was allowed to drive automatic transmission with the gear selector in "2." I didnt do more than 30 mph By the time I was 12 Dad allowed me to drive in a river lowland. Plenty of open space. I still didnt feel safe driving above 30 mph. Maintaining a mental sense of the space Dad's truck occupied on the road & its placement was enough to keep my brain very busy. I wasnt afraid of driving a truck at 8. But at 12 I was scared, even with Dad right there in the passenger seat Anyway, this is why many of us had parents who began teaching us to drive early on. Plus we had things like trail bikes, go carts, & motorcycles. It wouldve been inthinkable to our Boomer parents to wait until we were 15 or 16 to begin teaching us to drive. But as GenY (Millennials) began reaching driving age in the mid 90's, I began to see this trend of waiting until the last minute before putting a 'teen behind the wheel for the first time, & that trend has continued to get worse. Other than typical tendencies to drive too fast, follow to close, & having a carefree attitude toward safety, I am convinced that parents not giving their driving age children any prior experience before 15 & 16 is why they have bad driving habits, & lack a sense of danger while driving
Jeez how did they manage to find the dumbest teenagers ever to show for this 20 minute long video. Like they definitely purposely put the dumb teens in and just cut out the ones with common sense. This video is like 10 years old which can explain why there might be a bias in it
Its not about inteligence, trust me, I bet there are people in this world way but way more inteligent (im refering to iq) than you that take stupid decisions that you wont. Its about risk manangment in some phases of your life, you can take more risks because of some random factor, and you can even know its stupid to take the risk but you still do it because of something. We are not robots to be just affected by logical computing power. Smart people can also not resist to eat a piece of cake while on diet even if they know its against that specific goal. Your brain "most rational part" is not always decently working, when you are highly streesed you tend to turn off that part, so all the inteligence goes away, I mean you can have 300 iq points but you wont be able to use them, of course that having high iq can prevent you to put your brain in that positions. Bill gates while young was caught driving without a licence and he probabily has high iq. Your comment shows a bit that you might havr a bit of lack of understanding of these or ignoring this variables, as some high inteligent people ignore some risks or risky variables.
I agree!! The prefrontal cortex of the brain (decision making and organizing) isn't FULLY developed until 25 years old!! Why would you even want ANY 16 yr. old to get their license?? WAY too many decisions to make on the road!!
18 and starting driving lessons soon. I have never even thought about driving like an idiot when I get my license, I don't understand why you would risk your life like that, there are places where you can be as much of an idiot as you want to be, but a car is not it.
Same, I stared driving at 16 and all I wanted was stay safe and stick to rules, avoid mistakes, on highway just adjust speed flow with traffic that’s it, don’t want any reckless driving.
I got my permit 2 days after I just turned 19. I’m now 24 still have my permit I’m in no rush to get my full license and I’m not ashamed to still have my permit I feel more safe if I’m with my parents. Supervised driving and getting more better over the years for me helps me and keeps me safer. Teens shouldn’t be in any rush to get their license. Teens now can get school only permits where they can only drive to and from school parents and teens should only start with that. A Teen school permit only has the teen in the car no passengers and is safer. When I was in highschool and saw the kids driving they were leadfooting and distracted and most of the time on their phone or have friends in the car distracting them. I’m only 24 but I still can relate to this vid not with driving but with seeing the kids in my school and how cocky they drove is still dangerous. Don’t rush and you can still get your license any time keep a permit for as long as your state slows. There’s no reason to feel bad for having a permit still it’s your safety and others that matter more. This video may be old but it still should be shown to our new teen drivers
I complete agree. I had my learner's for 8 years!! YIKES! (just kidding). I couldn't pass the driving test because I didn't have the enough experience. Driving is not only a skill but it's also maturity. Here in the DMV (DC/MD/VA) the full license for all three states is 18. YEA!! Unfortunately these kids will learn the hard way!!
Since when I was 18 at High school in 2021, I've been driving testing at the driving school from All-Star, which was a good idea before I graduated, and I got my license in October 2021 after 1 1/2 months begging of College. 2 years later, in February, I got my 2023 Kia Niro PHEV, which it has airbags, AEB, and a little bigger, which is like Subcompact SUV.
Whoa hold up. I think that was! And it that was a integra or sunbird. I don’t mind if it’s either. Tho it wouldn’t be a Silvia. Because 2 things. Number 1, this is in America and America never got the Silvia. America got the 240sx. And number 2, if it is really a Silvia. I hope they trust themselves with it. Because they are expensive and rare. But I’m pretty sure it is a s13!
Ok so I found out what it was. And it really is a 240sx. I did search up the 3 cars and I struggled to find the difference between the integra and 240sx. But it’s a 240sx! Still I mean it might a convertible with some 2.0 liter with a 4 cylinder in disguise as a 3.0 liter with a 6 cylinder. Ok maybe 2.0 liter with a 6 cylinder so I guess that isn’t too bad.
This is why in the Netherlands, any driver under the age of 21 must have a driver cam and breath analyzer fitted to their cars. They must make sure they have zero alcohol and a camera to monitor if the young driver is texting while driving.
when you are already scared of driving, and then drivers ed makes u=you watch this, which in turn makes you not want to learn at all. Haha, Definitely couldn't be me-
I know no one is going to agree with me, but the minimum driving age should be 18 years old. If a teen gets a ticket, the teen should have to pay for it. If they get a dui or reckless driving ticket, the parent should suspend their license for a year.
my mom got in an accident on her way yo burger king from school it was her friends fault but needless to say leaving campus during lunch time was prohibited after that lol
Haha the teenagers featured here are my generation of people. Me wasn't invited on the show though, fortunately. Welcome to late 20s and hope they are all matured up now.
Lol im 27 years i only take Bus, train, airplane and bike without my drivers license and no car cuz gas prices too expensive and tesla is way too expensive i cant afford while working my restaurant job earn $600 every two weeks so yes, life is tough
Teenagers think nothing can happen to them. They think they know everything and they can't be told anything. Look at the interviewed kids in this video. Laughing and joking about speeding, sliding on water, almost hitting pedestrians, blasting music, reckless driving. They think only of themselves, not what they may inflict upon innocent drivers.
They were interviewed, there were probably incentives involved, maybe even scripts. Also they all looked wayyyyyyy too old to be in the age group which the video discusses. All I'm saying is thet they were probably given something to say it like that to drive home their point. I agree with the overall message, my best friend was killed in a car accident when I was a young child. I agree that safety is of the utmost importance, but I think that those people who were interviewed in the video are just saying that for the sake of the video and no one is actually like that in real life.
@@PersistentMeow Even if the people in this video were actors, I know many teenagers just like this. Are you truly saying you've never encountered teenagers before?
@@American-Jello I have, and I am saying that there is no way that anyone, even that one guy who was arrested for some reason would talk about this without any remorse like that.
@@PersistentMeow I take it you haven't seen the recent video of the woman who was arrested for DUI that killed 2 people and all she cared about was getting her car back so she could go to class the next day. No remorse, none. This is not uncommon these days. The officer repeatedly told her she murdered 2 people, she was under arrest, her car was a crime scene, she was not going to class the next day, and her response to that was "well, then, what about my Tuesday class, I have a class Tuesday." You should look up that video. The lack of empathy is a real wake up call.
I'm about 20, and I can't say I'm perfect at driving, but compared to most teens, I'm a relatively safe driver on the road. I've had some close calls, but not a single crash, and these experiences have me so much better and safer
Basically was first a leased car that my mom got in 2018 and then in late 2019 like in late November. We got rid of my dads black 2010 Ford Escape which my parents joked about my first car going to be that. But then we replaced the car with a pacific blue 2020 Chevy equinox And my mom took the equinox and my dad took the C-Max. Also what I meant by fixed was because my mom scratched the side of the car from a cement poll. And this was when she had it
i learned at a better pace . I had a thing for cars from when i was 5 year old . Around 11 or 12 years old i started watching car accident videos. At that time i learned the generel rules of driving which are followed by experienced drivers . Around when i was 13 year old i started to sit on the driver seat of the car with the car being parked i just thought that i am driving and perform the manuvers and get some experience . Around when i was 15 years old then i started starting the car moving it back and forth , removing from parking spot and then parking it again (my house was at closed road on dead end ) . And then when i turned 16 i just automatically started to drive without any problem . My general rules were always wear a seatbelt , if you want to use a phone just pull over , don't ride beyond your, roads and car's capabilities.
when you take driver's ED as an adult because you were on your own with no car from 17 and FINALLY have the money / vehicle / time and you gotta watch whatever the fuck this bullshit is.
I grew up in Germany. You have to be 18 to get your license. I was 20 or 21 when I got my first car, when I had a job, I could afford one. I don't think any 16-year-old working a typical high school student job makes that kind of money to afford a car including insurance, gas etc... unless big daddy or mommy pays for it.
Well, the minimum age should be 18, and in the US it’s way to easy to get your license, maybe because most of the teens are learning how to work with an automatic car. But changing the minimum age is not that hard.
I understand where there going but the second kids turn into adults it’s not going to make them a experienced driver it doesn’t matter how old you are the crash rate for whatever legal age is is going to be higher then older people who have been driving longer
Even today the most accidents hat just because drivers don't give attention to danger, drive drunken or text on they phone. Time is changing, stupidity is forever, sad but true.
50000 killed in last decade WOW. In my home country, there were 720 dead young drivers in the last decade. If the population was the same as USA, it would come to 2880 killed. What a difference 50000 to 2880. In my home country, we have mandatory, professional driving school (driving) + 28 hours of mandatory classroom studies. On top, a very strict 2 year probation period. The results of all this are in the numbers.
Got my License just 20 Months ago Stayed Crashfree sofar Never Text or Drink & Drive I keep an Eye on my Speed. Covered a Distance of 10.000 Miles sofar without having a Single Accident🚘🚘🚘🚘. I drive on my Own.
if driving in your teens is a high risk, maybe parents should be more appreciative of being a chauffer. i beg to differ, the abled adult population is the high risk class because of the attitude towards the dependant classes
Yes!! I strongly agree. I’m now 18 years old & don’t drive yet. I’m not alone. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. 🥲 I posted my argument on Instagram that some other people just started to learn how to drive at ages 21 - 25. In reality, I’m not fully matured yet.
Tell me you’re out of touch without telling me you’re out of touch. I know this vid was made 12 years ago but most things end around 9-9:30. I do my school shows and those end somewhere around 9, and with my sister’s job when she was in high-school she got home around 10:30. Making it illegal to drive after 9 seams really ludicrous to me but what do I know, I probably have a bias because I’m a teen 😂
Um “ as long as you live under MY roof you will do as I say”, “ I pay for YOUR car, I pay for your insurance, and I even pay for your gas” ( you are still n o t h I n g !😆😆

I agree!! The prefrontal cortex of the brain (decision making and organizing) isn't FULLY developed until 25 years old!!
Why would you even want ANY 16 yr. old to get their license?? WAY too many decisions to make on the road!!
Driving ed class anyone?
Lol yea :)
Soon
Heyooooo that’s me
Me two years ago
Yup
18 and starting driving lessons soon. I have never even thought about driving like an idiot when I get my license, I don't understand why you would risk your life like that, there are places where you can be as much of an idiot as you want to be, but a car is not it.
Same, I stared driving at 16 and all I wanted was stay safe and stick to rules, avoid mistakes, on highway just adjust speed flow with traffic that’s it, don’t want any reckless driving.
It’s never too late to get a license & to learn how to drive.
I'm 30 and I still feel too young to drive. I don't know how people do it
This is a very informative video. Wreckless driving is a serious issue. There's soo many people on their phones while driving these days.
I'd say wreckless driving is what you should be going for. You're thinking of reckless driving
18:28 dude be like:
*"Really wasn't paying attention, I just made a right and almost hit like 3 little kids 😃😃😃😆😆🤣🤣"*
Bruh
Bro playing GTA
Extra points
18:28 wtf and this is the same person who said he almost ran over a person last week, dudes probably in jail right now today
Probably! He sounds like a wanna be murderer thinking almost killing someone is funny.
I’ve had to watch so many of these drivers Ed videos that now my whole recommendations is full of just car thingies. ._.
“16 is when you start becoming more mature.” ?!?!
YOU don't mature neurologically until 26. I was mature at 32, being autistic and realising I could learn to be responsible for children.
I couldn't pass the driving test because I didn't have
the enough experience.
I'm 20, and I am incredibly blessed to not have had a single crash, and hopefully it stays that way. I'm not perfect, but I am a safe driver.
I like it when I’m assigned videos like these for homework, sometimes I see old cars that I like. Speaking of, was that a Nissan Silvia S13 at 0:53?
My nephew whos turned 19 got his license last week and now he acts like his bullet proof! 🙄
when you are already scared of driving, and then drivers ed makes u=you watch this, which in turn makes you not want to learn at all. Haha, Definitely couldn't be me-
Nah bro not me either
On top of having to watch out for other bad drivers and try not to be stressed out while driving.
That’s unfair they banned that.
Haha the teenagers featured here are my generation of people. Me wasn't invited on the show though, fortunately. Welcome to late 20s and hope they are all matured up now.
For me I know not to be reckless with a 1,000 pound killer machine like that.
Lol im 27 years i only take Bus, train, airplane and bike without my drivers license and no car cuz gas prices too expensive and tesla is way too expensive i cant afford while working my restaurant job earn $600 every two weeks so yes, life is tough
Lol I'm 20 years old I have my commercial driver's license and I earn $800 every week bruh
You can walk anywhere too, but it does feel nice knowing that you can navigate on public roads.
nah I don't even get invited to parties or events or have many friends, yall stay safe though
my insurance company made me watch this :(
Teenagers think nothing can happen to them.
Why are they so happy they messed up
All I know is that my first car is going to be a fixed silver 2018 Ford C-Max Hybrid for sure
Basically was first a leased car that my mom got in 2018 and then in late 2019 like in late November. We got rid of my dads black 2010 Ford Escape which my parents joked about my first car going to be that. But then we replaced the car with a pacific blue 2020 Chevy equinox
And my mom took the equinox and my dad took the C-Max. Also what I meant by fixed was because my mom scratched the side of the car from a cement poll. And this was when she had it
Lucky
Mine is a 1995 f150
@@lucastrosper6159 wait did your just get it, or are you getting a car soon or in like 4. Years
I am getting it right now
If y’all are watching this for drivers Ed just do something else while the vid plays
i have to take notes 😒
I have to take notes too
ironic
facts bro, this video is just pointless
I have to right a paragraph on what I “learned”
This happens when the DMV gives these damn kids their drivers license knowing they cannot drive
I just saw this video in my driving class online course.
same
I'm 30 and I still feel too young to drive. Driving as a teenager doesn't even sound possible.
no no no no no. but how did the crash happen. it looked like a t-bone. in all honesty they might be lying to prove a point
i learned at a better pace .
I'm 17 but I dont get what's the point of going over the limit and drive like you own the whole town? This generation is messed up frrrr.
Dawg this vid was made over a decade ago
The teens in this video are in their late 20s now.
18:28 ??? wtf, how is he saying that while smiling???
Bruh, dude just said it so casually😂😂😭💀
psychopath?
there all paid actors
when you take driver's ED as an adult because you were on your own with no car from 17 and FINALLY have the money / vehicle / time and you gotta watch whatever the fuck this bullshit is.
You need to be aware of the crazy and reckless teenagers you will deal with when you're drivin in the highway.
Thank the Lord I was told I couldn't drive at 20 in 2004.
I am autistic and can't multitask. No danger of DUI.
I didn't get my license till after I was twenty One. And I'm so glad. But I was still a Bad and Terrible Driver for years. 🤪😜
The other issue is that we have non teen drivers who do not know what they are doing
I grew up in Germany. You have to be 18 to get your license. I was 20 or 21 when I got my first car, when I had a job, I could afford one. I don't think any 16-year-old working a typical high school student job makes that kind of money to afford a car including insurance, gas etc... unless big daddy or mommy pays for it.
man this drivers ed course is doing a TERRIBLE job calming my nerves on driving
SERIOUSLY!!! Like bro I’m one more sad story about someone dying a horrible death in a car wreck from dropping the whole fucking class 💀
You have to be careful when driving at all times no one is invincible
I've gotten run into a few times when I was young by people being on their cellphone and texting and driving. 😡
Please update this video to 2023
You should be 18 years old and have graduated from high school before you get a drivers license.
Well, the minimum age should be 18, and in the US it’s way to easy to get your license, maybe because most of the teens are learning how to work with an automatic car. But changing the minimum age is not that hard.
And it wouldn't really help. The 18 year old drivers of that world would be exactly like the 16 year old drivers of our world
I strongly agree. 18 years old is more mature.
*Lord please don’t let me turn out like this*
I understand where there going but the second kids turn into adults it’s not going to make them a experienced driver it doesn’t matter how old you are the crash rate for whatever legal age is is going to be higher then older people who have been driving longer
to young now, it was different before. life was not at the same pace and no cell phones.
Even today the most accidents hat just because drivers don't give attention to danger, drive drunken or text on they phone.
Time is changing, stupidity is forever, sad but true.
16 year old us too young to drive .. it is not skills but maturity.
Got my License just 20 Months ago
Stayed Crashfree sofar
Never Text or Drink & Drive
I keep an Eye on my Speed.
Covered a Distance of 10.000 Miles sofar without having a Single Accident🚘🚘🚘🚘.
I drive on my Own.
the part where the mother discovered her daughter died in the crash :(
Seen this in the 38 hour class i was cmon mane
Okay but who won the game?
Those days are gone, kids. The human brain matures normally at 25.
In a lot of humans it doesn’t mature at all.
Feels like I’m watching an anti-marijuana video in health class
0:31 what’s the song name?
if driving in your teens is a high risk, maybe parents should be more appreciative of being a chauffer. i beg to differ, the abled adult population is the high risk class because of the attitude towards the dependant classes
Who else is here during their online class??
is that a s13 convertible
Here for my homework
Same
Why would she listen to her friend bruh
Thank You For Sharing 🇺🇲
Buckle up and collide safely
Immature kids not really ready for driving. Try 21.
Yes!! I strongly agree. I’m now 18 years old & don’t drive yet. I’m not alone. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. 🥲
I posted my argument on Instagram that some other people just started to learn how to drive at ages 21 - 25.
In reality, I’m not fully matured yet.
@@kennethcochran5277See my comment. I had an asshole for a teacher although I'm glad to not drive.
IM SO SCARED TO DRIVE AHHH
😒😒😒😒
This video sucks
These idiots are the reason why my course is so damn long. This information should be common sense!!!!!!
Wow didn’t know you could stereotype TEENS jeezus
This looks like an 80s video
