Great advice ! One thing I would add is to be aware that if the client is in the session, they may not be used to dealing with VO talent so be patient, nice to everyone, thank them at the end of the session etc. There will be more chance of them using you again and the next session will be even easier.
This is two years old but right on time for me! Question, my computer set up is outside of the studio itself. Would they be giving me live direction through my headphones or through the messaging feature on source connect? Thank you!
Thank you for the information! Would there be a problem when there is no camera for the session and the client would not be able to see me recording, but just hear my voice?
FANTASTIC INFO! Thank you! ✨ That helped a lot! -Question: Is it customary that the clients are actually WATCHING you? Or is it acceptable/common to have the camera disabled, and only communicating through audio with the client?
Totally fine to not have the camera on - I've only had two clients who have ever insisted on it in hundreds of sessions. And you can always say that it might stress the computer processor and lead to a poorer connection if necessary. I'm connected via ethernet, so happy to give them the option. But normally I think people find it distracting
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover WOW! Thank you so much for that! I have my first one in a week… 👍😄 (Your videos are FULL of terrific knowledge, and I’m on my way to watching every single one of them! You’re appreciated.)
But it’s still a closet, I have a pretty mic, clothes and all of my sound absorbing material is in front of me ( behind my mic) so they wouldn’t be able to see it. I know I’ve seen other peoples home studios that is just full of sound absorbing material seems to be the “professional standard”

This is a fascinating look behind the curtains.
I always love learning more and more about recording and coice acting. ❤
Great video
Would you happen to have any advice for new voice actors like myself

My home studio is in my closet , that has my clothes in it , so you think that would be a problem
Hi Kay - what would be a problem specifically?
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover the aesthetics basically lol I mean my closet is very organized actually
But it’s still a closet, I have a pretty mic, clothes and all of my sound absorbing material is in front of me ( behind my mic) so they wouldn’t be able to see it. I know I’ve seen other peoples home studios that is just full of sound absorbing material seems to be the “professional standard”
@@Kkaypalmer @Kay P Ah good - i was going to say, being in a closet is no barrier to a directed session!
@@NaturallyRPVoiceover awesome thank you
