  • In this episode we sit down with Bobby Armstrong AKA @blue_collar_code. Bobby is an HVAC technician in the Phoenix Arizona area with a WILD life story. Bobby shares his life experiences, growing up without an education, moving to several different cities where he gained his experience in the HVAC trades, overcoming a 15 year battle with addiction, going in and out of jail…. All to find success in sobriety for the last 10 years. Despite all he’s been through he has found success in the construction industry, and he is here to share how he did it!
What is the Construction Mentor Podcast?
This podcast covers everything there is to know about construction jobs. Whether it be advice for a career as a construction manager or construction entrepreneur, OR if you are looking for construction jobs that pay well. Especially construction jobs that pay well without experience or jobs that pay well.
Working in construction sounds dirty, it sounds back breaking, but most people do not realize the variety of opportunities there are in construction…all available without breaking your back! In today’s world of construction, avoiding construction accidents by working safely and intelligently is a top priority!
These are jobs that pay well don’t require a degree. Many of these jobs make over 100k per year and include benefits i.e., full health benefits, access to construction vehicles, free construction trucks.
There is no glass ceiling with a career in construction, the sky is truly the limit! With the right mentorship could be jobs that make you a millionaire. Regarding job availability and security… these are jobs that will hire immediately, AND these jobs are not jobs that will be replaced with AI.
The construction industry does not only have physically laborious jobs on site. The construction industry offers several different career paths that can make a lot of money; careers in finance, careers in technology, careers in software, careers in 3D modeling, and 3D design, careers in architecture, careers in engineering, careers that use AI, and even careers that operate HEAVY machinery remotely which is almost like a career playing video games in construction!
Supply and demand is the cardinal rule of economics. The truth is that skilled trades are dying. The skilled trades shortage is so dire that all skilled trades are in demand, meaning all skilled trades pay well. Now, some do pay better than others which is why you need to listen to construction podcasts and skilled trades podcasts like this one! This is the best way to find out which blue collar education is the best path for your future, and could even lead you to becoming a blue collar millionaire.
The construction industry is one of the few, or maybe THE ONLY industry were the education does not cost you any money. Not only do you avoid a student loan, but you get paid to get an education. Considering the current student loan crisis, that makes these careers even more appealing. On this podcast we do explain student loans and compare them to starting salaries. Even if you still wanted to pay for an education, the construction related majors have the highest starting salaries!
Our guests include professionals who are experts in carpentry work, electrical work, HVAC work, and beyond! Join the conversation every Tuesday morning at 4:30AM!

I never knew your whole story. I knew something was going on but you hid it good. I’m glad that you got through it and have come out the other side a better, stronger man. I still miss our working relationship, but you have my support.

I met Bobby in the Orlando FL area back in 2004 - 2005 through mutual friends but he is one of the hardest working genuine caring people I’ve ever met in my life he has taught me skills working with him in the trades that I still use to this day almost 20 years later… Excellent podcast!!!
