    If you noticed some parts of the video sounded a bit "off" this is due to a camera fault. New equipment has now been bought although a few of my upcoming videos may also sound a bit strange. Apologies for this.

    ... sooo appreciate Dylan's approach...subtitles providing contextual info, but no endless prattle so common on social platforms...this allows for a sensory experience....from the sparrows inside the terminal building, to the background conversations, brake/wheel chatter allowing your own perceptions sway...
    merci, Dylan ....

    Love your trip to Toulouse, just imagining where I would go to after visiting Toulouse, Carcassonne would be my favorite. The price of 23 euros (about 20 US dollars) first class for about 675 kilometers (420miles), you can't expect food too, I think. 💺🛤️🚆

    What a pleasant trip! The train was very nice. I can imagine enjoying the 6+ hour trip in that comfortable seat. Those bucolic views reminded me of certain parts of California in late spring. It is odd and unfortunate that first class passengers don’t receive complimentary food during the trip. I would need to eat more than a snack during a trip that lasts over 6 hours. I suppose passengers need to bring food if they want to avoid pricey cart snacks. Dylan, thanks again for a wonderful virtual experience. Enjoy your weekend! 🌻

    • @DylansTravelReports
      @DylansTravelReports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I think the reason they don't offer complimentary food and drink in 1st class is because it often doesn't cost much more than 2nd class.

    Thanks, Dylan! I am delighted that you made this trip in broad daylight !!! Toulouse, the city where I am a student. I know the station by heart. I love the sound of the Corails, they are unique. I will soon take one to go to college. It goes very well with your video "Intercités de Nuit". These Corail just lack a real bar rather than an itinerant catering service. Good train!

    Nice video! This is probably one of the best first class seats, and all for £20. The best experience I had so far when travelling was probably that time I used LOT Polish Airlines from Warsaw Chopin to Heathrow T2. The seat did offer a good amount of comfort and I was offered a complimentary snack midflight.

    (5:05) I remember the massive old 1st class seats. These were type grandma's wing chair in which one you sank and didn't want to get up again. Maybe the seats in the video are just as comfortable. - Greetings, Heinz

    I think if I wasn't in a hurry I'd get this over the TGV just to see the countryside. There are so many noise barriers on high speed lines you don't get to see much. I'd definitely bring a food hamper mind!

    It was nice to see a real first class seat when you buy a first class ticket ! As there is single seating in 2nd class as well, the only thing you really get for the extra money is the seat so it better be good, and it was. Thanks for showing the engine again, I really enjoy seeing the different types of locomotives which are all very different from North American.

    • @DylansTravelReports
      @DylansTravelReports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree although, I'm not too sure how easy/difficult it would be to get a single seat in 2nd class. Also, all the solo seats in 2nd class are table seats so less privacy.

    I can remember travelling in one of these Corail coaches in 1978. I was 18 and had travelled to Spain on Inter rail. Returning, we hopped onto one of these at the border and thought that this cannot be right as they were so nice. Very sophisticated interiors for the time designed by Roger Tallon. I have travelled on the refurbished ones from Montpellier to Bordeaux and first class was very nice . I like the original seating layout which makes for a more interesting interior.. Comfort is something the French normally do very well. One just has to compare the old Eurostar trains built by Alstom compared to the newer, rather clinical ones manufactured by Siemens.

    • @DylansTravelReports
      @DylansTravelReports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of these coaches still have the original interiors and my goodness they have stood the test of time. Very comfortable trains and it'll be a sad day when they bow out.

    Austerlitz will grow in the future for sure but the TGV will come to the station only if the infamous POCL (Paris-Orléans-Clermont Ferrand) LGV, as a second line towards France's south east, will be built. I think it will because the Paris-Lyon LGV will get at some point congested (though frequency can still be increased) but we're probably talking of 2040 at least! No timeline has been provided though provisions have been made.

    Nice report.
    The Paris Toulouse line was the "flag line" of the SNCF, where the first trains at 200 kmh were operating during the 60s.
    The train was called "Capitole", had a red livery. Journey time was 6h00. An historical locomotive is preserved at the train museum in Mulhouse.
    From 1991 the TGV via Bordeaux was faster, just 5h35, now only 4h30. Ouigo budget TGV are operating some services every day.
    New trains set have been order for this line, they will be built by the Spanish CAF.
    In 1982 a terrorist attak (left extremist terrorists) on this line make 5 deaths and 28 injurys.
    Just a last thing: i dun heard of TGV in Paris Austerlitz station in the future. But already now, when Montparnasse station is closed (it happend a few times recently) TGV to south west are diverted in Austerlitz.

    OMFG! The seat appears to be designed BY human beings FOR human beings! I can only hope other train seat manufacturers follow this unusual concept (lol). Seriously, I sometimes wonder if the local prison system didn't brainstorm seat ideas at monthly parole hearings for habitual offenders or something...

      VIA Rail Canada normally offers an excellent full hot meal with multiple choices of main courses, free drinks before the meal, and free wine with the meal, in their first class product which they call "Business Class." The Business Class service has not been offered since March due to the pandemic, but will be relaunched on Sept. 1 with a "modified" meal service. Looking forward to seeing what this will be like.

    Lovely loco + corail coaches, a real train! But I thought they were being replaced now. I hope not but does anyone know? Also, I know this line was 200kph in the past but some other videos suggest it's now 160kph. Is that true? Great video anyway, as always.

    If the travel is 6h40 minutes long, the train cannot go at 200 km/h because we get this duration when Intercités trains run at 160 km/h.
    I've just been on one of them between Paris and Toulouse yesterday, i've checked with an app on my phone, we didn't went over 160 km/h and the ride was exactly 6h40 long.
    If the train was going at 200 km/h on the whole section between Étampes, Les Aubrais and Vierzon, which is technically possible, the ride would have been around 6h long.
    Trains can even go at 220 km/h on this section but the most powerful locomotives cannot go up to 200 km/h.
    Even if the locomotive is suited for 200 km/h, some Corail cars are not so the train is only authorized to go at 160 km/h maximum.

      But usually Intercités trains from Paris to Toulouse never go at 200 km/h. If you look on the SNCF website they all have a duration of 6h40-6h50.
      I've been taking this line for 2 years and my train never went over 160 km/h.
      Trains from Paris to Tours however can go at this speed on this section, there's a cab ride between these to cities on TH-cam and the train reaches 200.

    Ah, Toulouse Matabiau... so many good moments there 😊 I miss there. And again good video! I like it!
    Although you were quite lucky, as the Intercité was on time. The problem with SNCF are frequent delays, frequent strikes or unexpected trains suppression as they have the reputation throughout France for being a bunch of overpaid lazy arses and old faulty trains still on tracks that breakdown when you are on the middle of your journey. Also, frequently with Intercité I was travelling with weird people (junkies for instance) and aggressions are quite frequent into trains.
    And when a train suddenly break down, you have to find an alternative route to end your journey.
    So, yes, from personal experience I wouldn’t recommend Intercité. TGV is maybe a bit more expensive, but it’s a safer option.
