    It's looks great in black. It's underrated as a coupe and yes with some improvements in sound proofing, I think it could be a great little car. I always liked them and never cared what other people thought about men driving them. When I drove it I was impressed. A little more tweeking could actually make this a great little car for everyone. Good video.

      Thanks! We agree too, it's surprisingly fun with just a few changes could make it even better. We had no issues with the 170hp engine, something we often complain about with smaller cars, but this one felt great getting on the highways, no issues whatsoever.

    I just test drove the 2017 classic. It was fairly quick, quit and smooth. If i didnt know what car i was driving you would think you were driving a BMW or Mercedes. This is a damn nice car for the money. My complaints were the visors didnt block the side window sun and rear seat leg room was none.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rear seat space is certainly null on this car, but it's also to be expected. The was the first episode we filmed when we moved to Quebec, and it wasn't the nicest model to choose from. We'd certainly love to have another go at this generation.

    You are very unfair to the little car. The beetle is much greater than your review. I own one, and I love it. I get at least 1 person a day compliment me. I never had that with any other car I have owned. This car is awesome, and I would recommend it. I have owned it for 4 years and never has broken down.

      Same. Ours is a bad ass. Gets compliments every time I drive it.

    This reviewer did not do his homework at all. He simply went for a ride thinking that the viewer would not know how unprepared he was. Let's take it point by point. Regarding the elastic bands on the doors. The narrator mistakenly says 'they hold nothing important". He is wrong, as they can hold ANY size water bottle. Not many other cars can claim that. He is also wrong about the back seats. I am 5ft, 11in and can sit perfectly fine back there in comfort. He also is completely surprised on how well it drives, well he should not be so surprised as it is based on the Golf platform which is one of the best driving platforms on the market today. He says the arm rest is 'kind of useless'. This is untrue. The Armrest is in the perfect position for you to rest your arm on. It also stores items. He also says the rear mirror is useless. This is also untrue. It it the right size for this car. You can always remove the rear headrests if you want more rear visibility. He said that he could not remove the rear headrests. All you have to do is insert a screwdriver or something flat to release the safety clip and they come off easily. Folks, if he could not figure out how to remove a simple headrest, maybe he should not be reviewing cars. He had a problem closing the trunk. This is because he closed it wrong. Inside the trunk is grab handle to properly close the trunk. He says it is lacking sound proofing. This is simply not true. It is very quiet when compared to other cars at that price point. Notice that he is talking to the camera and he sounds perfectly fine in the video. Don't believe them if they say it is because they have great audio equipment. If it was so noisy, believe me the audio would have picked it up. Overall, I rate this video a total failure. He missed the mark completely about what this car is all about which is a very cool retro style inside and out, an excellent driving experience with materials, fit and finish that are best in class. This is an excellent car.

      Its just a car. You don't have to be so defensive about it. I know its an old comment, but I'm in the market right now and just, wow.

    • @bigmacdaddy1234
      @bigmacdaddy1234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brianwallace2038 Of course it's just a car. What else could it possibly be? A blender? The only one defensive here is you. Go get a Kleenex and calm down.

      Clearly it's meant for no one since VW killed it and I see maybe 1 a month on the road.

  • @luckyone5069

    Nice review;This is a marketing machine. VW is making very much money, selling this type of cars.
    I drove one for a day, and it felt like sitting in a bath-tub. The suspension is good, if you don't know how a good car should drive and off course it looks good...it's a VW product packet in a retro outfit. The car was never builded for his ride qualities. The looks, that's what its al about.
    Anyway, its shines up our street view, between al those boring vehicles, so, thumbs up for The Beetle!

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! We see plenty of them on the road too, so they definitely are popular. There's nothing that really competes with it for styling.

    • @bigmacdaddy1234
      @bigmacdaddy1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is based on the Golf platform so you are wrong about the ride quality. It rides excellent. You simply had to raise the seat if you felt you were sitting in a bathtub.

    If it's so noisey inside how come we hear you so clearly?

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose our audio gear is pretty good! We did have to cut quite a bit of the footage we filmed though due to excessive road noise on the audio track.

    One big turn off is the red turn signal lights in the rear. They should be yellow not red. But, the car itself is cute.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We think it should have amber signals also. We know why manufacturers choose not to, but it would be nice if they passed on the red, especially when it replaces a brake light.

  • @colinstu
    @colinstu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    it probably takes corners well because 1) it's not a luxury boat 2) it's new so it doesn't have old worn out steering and suspension parts lol. Either way, the Beetle really isn't that bad of a car as most people expect. Then again, a spec'd out Jetta or Golf is going to be way nicer.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true too. We aren't a huge fan of VWs products, we've driven a handful of them now (outside of TestDrive) and never been happy with them. This one surprised us though.

    • @colinstu
      @colinstu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      new or old VWs? New VWs definitely feel cheaper on the inside than older ones, but that's because VW is trying harder to compete and had to lower the price point of their cars to actually stand a chance with Asian and American offerings.
      Old VWs however, while initially nice on the inside when they were new, are also now likely worn out, and since they started out not being super luxurious, will feel dated and even worse too.
      Have you had a chance to try out an Audi yet? I don't know what it is about Audi but they're so much less interesting than BMW. Sure they have an A8 that's supposed to compete with the 7, but it just looks drab.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're hoping to. We've been emailing local owners here to see if we can start featuring some Audis and other luxury brands. We'll see how things go as we're hoping to hit up an enthusiast meet tomorrow night as well!

      When it comes to the videos we've filmed, it's hard to say since we've generally liked them all. We've driven a lot of bad new cars though, 2016 Jetta is easily top 3 worst cars we've driven. The Maserati Spyder we did was also pretty awful.
