I believe that solar energy can be harnessed to produce electricity using GREEN HOUSE EFFECT in such cold regions too subject to the condition that they get sun rays. If required, huge poles or towers may also be used to catch the heat. Project Surya Namaskaram is not dumb or jhand but has dum. It's a sensor based project that would auto function based on the temperature constraints and battery charging (power) requirements. Auto-covering/uncovering of glass cover plus auto-cooling mechanism (if needed) would be based on temperature based sensor and battery shall have storage capacity good enough to store power for several days based on normal usage requirements. In windy areas with less heat, windmills would rather be a better alternative.
