    The solar panels are now installed on our diy ground mount. It is now time to start wiring them up so they can meet all of our power needs! This solar array will power our off grid farm and shipping container home that we will build ourselves. We are one step closer to becoming energy self reliant. We saved up our money before we moved from Florida and had bought these solar panels so this entire project is being done debt-free!

    Might be good idea to put a small rail around the panels to keep the cows away from them. They could do plenty of damage ‼️. Just thinking out loud. Real nice job👍👍. Vinny 🇺🇸

    Great video! I have an at point 13 gallon 1,300 watt 120volt ac water heater which has power and temperature controls being run by my 700 watts worth of solar panels,60amp MPPT and one 100amp hr.12v battle born battery. I have a 1500 watt inverter which can run a chest freezer, fridge and this water heater all at the same time! I set the water heater temperature to max and power setting to low which is 200 watts. By the time I get home from work on a sunny day the battery is 100% charged and the water temperature is 145 degrees which is enough hot water for two showers.

    The aluminum frames of the solar modules are anodized, so you don't have to worry about galvanic corrosion with the steel. Modules are mounted to steel structure by the millions in large solar farms.
    SuperStrut makes for a decent mounting system, but it isn't going to hold up in high winds with 8ft spans. You really need some reinforcement.

    I started watching your show in November 2019
    I really think your Solar Panels and Barn need to share the same Roof
    You have to realign your Barn to face the southern exposure, and get those solar panels on top of the roof, off the ground
    The Barn southern exposure side should be the lower side to make removing snow off of the panels easier
    Best of luck
    Beau is the star of your show

    Loving the show so far, love the off grid power parts the best. I have a question however, Why did you mount the solar panels so close to the ground, considering that you have livestock I mean. Why not 4-5 feet off the ground? love to hear why, thanks!

    • @life.uncontained
      @life.uncontained  6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Great question Michael! The reason why we mounted them there is for the ease of cleaning the solar panels. It’s a smaller system and we want to squeeze as much power out of them as possible and didn’t want to climb up on a roof or up a ladder to clean pollen, dust or snow off of them. We’ll eventually have a fence around them and our home.
