It’s amazing just how much material and work printing even one page of newspaper would have been. This really needs to be preserved, people don’t appreciate
I remember learning the job case when I was in 7th through the 9th grade. Our teacher had a nice little print ship with and hand powered roller press. I really did enjoy it. That was in the early 1970s, and I'm pretty sure I can't remember how to do anymore without a crash course in the California jobcase. I made business cards for my dad, stationary for nearly all of my family, my 2 sisters and more cousins that I could count. All they had to was pay for the paper they wanted. What a fun time that was way back then, and a really nice memory to hold on to. And once in a while I see an old, antique jobcase still in a cabinet it maybe came in from the jobcase factory. I'll see one and spend time to check it out. I saw one a year or two ago that was for sale for ...well...you could buy a 1960s track home for about the same cost.
Oh so that's where those wall hangings come from that we use as shelves for our miniature collections. That wood box with all the compartments that hold all the letter pieces are actually drawers and you can find them at antique stores. I have one and hang it up on the wall and put little miniature items in them. I would love to find more. They used to be easier to find 20 Years ago or more but now I hardly ever see them

“This is how we set type backwards.”
Very interesting! I love these videos.

Ainda digo para as pessoas que minha profissão é tipógrafo.
Doesn't look like a California Job Case from this angle. If you only had a dollar for every one of those drawers that were made into shadow boxes😎
I now have and letterpress machine to sell
I have a letterpress machine. Now I want to sell it.
