How the 5 Senses Are Affected by Alzheimer's Disease & Other Dementias

Alzheimer's Disease, along with other forms of dementia (including Fronto-Temporal, Lewy-Body, Huntington's Disease, Multi-Infarct / Vascular, Parkinson's Disease, and so on) are frequently classified as "cognitive impairments."
A hallmark of these afflictions is marked reduction in memory and reasoning faculties. And these prominent symptoms often receive the better part of attention and focus.
But, cognition also includes sense perception. Therefore, and unsurprisingly, cognitive disorders are partially characterized by sensory and perceptual problems.
In this video, I sketch the lay of the land, turning a glance to the so-called five (5) major senses: audition (hearing), gustation (taste), olfaction (smell), tactility (touch), and vision (sight).
I talk a bit about the deficits -- and a bit more about possible ramification for caretaking, including safety considerations and interventions.
