    I recommend sequator for images with foreground. For more detailed astrophotography Deep Sky Stacker (DSS) is a good choice. So you can "calibrate" the black with bias frames and reduce lens sensor vignetting and mud on the lenses. With gimp you can also easily reduce a gradient to get a more realistic sky color ... but maybe these hints are more for advanced users ....
    I tried photoshop some times but I was never satified - I am very glad with open source software.

    I've watched two of your videos and found them SUPER useful. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with down to earth techniques. 👌👍

    Emily, this is a fantastic tutorial! I just bought my first camera and lens and have embarked on the journey of night sky photography. Your tutorial guided me along the way of editing my first shot and honestly, without it, I may have given up the editing process as it was so overwhelming, but you helped break it down and make it easy to follow. Thank you!

    Great tutorial. Your results are excellent. The foreground details give your night shots great value.

    Beautiful photos! So glad I found this channel. Buying my first camera and you really got me excited about micro 4/3 systems. Looking at purchasing a g85 here in a couple weeks. Looks like a gx85 and a g7 had a baby. Best of both!

    I have so much to learn...I find the idea of learning astro editing a bit daunting as I’m rather colour blind! Just found your channel and love it 😊

    What a good Tutorial! My First Shooting of the MilkyWay was made in the Sternenpark Westhavelland (in the North East of Germany) and i made only ohne shots and edited the photos in Lightroom. The next time i will try Stacking the pictures. Thx a lot!

    Thank you very much Emily :) I do want to give astro landscapes a proper go rather than the pure deep sky object imaging I'm used to. I'll refer back to your tutorial when I want to process my first image. Thanks again! :)

    Great work. Thanks for demystifying the process. I've done some milky way shots, but this will help a lot next time.

    Another cracking upload! Thanks for this...great tips! Are you planning on doing a review of the 7Artisans 7.5? Am swithering between it and the Laowa 7.5 f.2...knowing the Laowa is a better lens, but your tutorial shows some great results with the 7Artisans? :)

    I'm a bit surprised just how sharp the foreground is even though I presume you focused on the stars? Is m43 depth of field that much higher that with these wide angle lenses there's limited value in signing a separate foreground shot where you focus and light paint your trees etc?

    • @MicroFourNerds
      @MicroFourNerds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you use such a wide angle lens, anything from basically a metre away is completely in focus 😊

    Does it save all formats? I see that you only save jpeg's. Thanks.

    Grabbed a bunch of shots last night at 30 second exposure. I noticed of course the Milky Way etc moves across shot to shot because of the long exposure. Foes the software take care of lining up that movement that occurred between shots?

    • @MicroFourNerds
      @MicroFourNerds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does indeed - but the shots need to be relatively close together in capture time

    • @rjkral
      @rjkral 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MicroFourNerds Great, downloading the software and giving it a go. REALLY love your tutorials, so easy to understand and clearly voiced and taught. Yes the shots were right after each other but that milky way did move. Have a 7.5mm lens so they were 30 second shots:) Thanks for the great turorials!

      @@MicroFourNerds oh darn, Starry Landscape Stacker needs Mac OS 10.11. For my pro work I need to stay on Mojave. Any recommendations for another stacker? I guess I'll try the photoshop tutorial but that SLS looks so easy to use:)

    where did you get your astro pre sets for LR please?

  • @peterboon8023
    @peterboon8023 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many dark frame do you need? Is there a set formula?

    • @MicroFourNerds
      @MicroFourNerds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      One or two is fine. Even just one dark frame makes the software work much better
