I met Dick Emery over 60 years ago when he was appearing at the Manchester Hippodrome , I was working in the box office .What a very nice man he was…I miss all these fabulous comedians…
I love the sketch where the desperate "Miss" breaks 'into' prison and then the prisoners immediately throw her out the front gate "We might be desperate but not that desperate!".
Wonderful childhood memories of the Dick Emery show and other classics I loved the seventies feel so lucky to have had a proper upbringing where you could just laugh at life in all its absurdity

Yep, the theme music alone brings back memories of anticipation. It's a pity they haven't brought out a decent set of individual episodes/series on DVD, the same with Dave Allen.
It was so much better back then .There was no political correctness then .One had freedom of speech where as one has not no more .One did not have to put up with everyday talk with gay issues and Black people issues everyday .And we had funny comedy on tv .Now it's more like people talking about there issues everyday all the time and its becoming to much and over bearing on everyday life
@@ross8474 I disagree. Modern shows like Little Britain and Catherine Tate regularly broke the PC rules too. Incontinent old women, mental hospital patients and middle class women vomiting over people because of their race or gender all spring to mind.

Can someone please tell me who the " come along, come along" actress is? The Hettie prison scene is in a class of its own. The accompanying laughter is pure joy. Thank you. ❤❤❤
For the time his humour was not overtly misogynistic like for example Benny Hill. His characters were very gentle stereotypes. Clarence as an example did not criticise homosexuality. Rather he was portrayed care free and in an affectionate way. Considering the peer pressure to be overtly offensive he crafted much loved characters that could generally be seen - even today as on the right side of political correctness. Dick Emery was a staunch Socialist who as well as giving vast amounts to charity, organised charitable events with his showbiz friends. He was no angel in his private life I accept. Who is lol A genius x
