Been a fireman for nearly 25 years. Even though there was a lot of Hollywood thrown in it was still a great movie. I’m still giving Ladder 49 the edge though. Stay safe brothers .

When a movie trailer is as long as a music track, yet it doesn't spoil the best parts of the movie.

Actually, the music is looped almost twice for the trailer. I was actually disappointed that it was as short as it was when I heard it at the end of “Glory”.

Watched this again today, the specials effects are still one of the best to this day, hasn’t aged. Great film
When I was 5 years old, I watched this every single day. I would dress up in my moms long overcoat, rain boots and id use a detached vacuum hose to pretend I was fighting fires.. Oh and I had a plastic firefighter hat that I got from the fair haha. I was unstoppable boy lol

I love when you see something so memorable where years later, it can just pop into your head and you want to see it again. The first time i saw this trailer, i was a kid who (if i remember correctly) we just rented “Look Who’s Talking Too” from the movie rental store cause it just came to VHS and we hadn’t seen it yet. And one of the trailers played before the Movie (Feature Presentation) was this exact trailer. I was completely blown away and i thought it was one of if not the best trailer id ever seen (to that point and date). Thinking about it now, the music played a big part cause it just fit the moments of tension, urgency and bravery so perfectly. One of the greatest trailers of all time.
I agree on all counts, easily one of the best trailers ever made, though the music is from a different movie, Glory, its PERRRRFECT for this trailer

This has to be the most underrated film of the 90s and one of the most underrated films of all time. I think one of the reasons its underrated is the year it was released. 1991 it was going up against Terminator 2 Judgment Day, Boyz in the Hood, The Silence of the Lambs, and Cape Fear. No way was it beating out The Silence of the Lambs for "Best Picture as it didn't even get nominated for "Best Picture."
The cast was great. Kurt Russell = one of the most underrated actors ever, William Baldwin = the only Baldwin brother than can act, Scott Glenn = so underrated, Robert DeNiro = he didn't have much screen time but when he did he was phenomenal, = Donald Sutherland = great actor, Jennifer Jason Leigh = great actress, Rebecca De Mornay = great actress, JT Walsh = playing another bad guy role was so great.
One of the firemen looked like Matthew Broderick but I don't think that was him. Excellent film by an excellent director.
I think that was Jason Gedrick that looked like Broderick. 1991 was an incredible year for movies...Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves came out as well. Backdraft, T2, and Robin Hood were my top three that year. They simply don't make movies like these anymore. It's such a shame because I think the majority of people want to see films like these...not CGI fests.

The music from "Glory" really brings out the best in this 1991 trailer. That same year, James Horner, the composer for "Glory," scored the music for "The Rocketeer" and "Fievel Goes West!"
Timothy Wiggins I was a bit bummed when I found out this composition wasn’t in the movie! Really suited the trailer very well.

I have to thank my grandmother for the this movie lol. She wanted me to rent it on VHS one night so bad, and so I did. Usually that wouldn't have happened but we loved to watch movies together and my grandfather alike. Turns out she didn't like it as much as she had hoped lol. Imagine that

When I rented a VHS copy of Kindergarten Cop, this trailer appeared before the movie started. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time.
Great trailer for today’s standards especially for ‘91! It gives hints about the plot. Introduces all of the characters. The music is a slow grind. It’s spot on. It’s still the best fireman movie. This film was really hard to make. It never got enough credit.

I remember watching this as a kid. It's how I learned the concept of a backdraft.
Someone in my family must have recorded it off the TV on VCR cause I rewatched and was exposed to great sadness from watching a movie. I wonder does that sadness stick with you? Does being exposed to great drama as a kid skew your view on life?
I've always never really feared death. I took risks, I flirted with it. But was never afraid.
I think I couldn't have understood the whole film but was fascinated by fire and the concept of brave men fighting it. Around the same time this released I also watched a show called London's Burning, a TV series about a London fire brigade. As a kid one would be forgiven to think fire fighting TV shows and films were the norm. But not really. In hindsight, it's kind of crazy making a show about firefighters. Its interesting but a bit depressing. I love it. It was pretty much the last thing I could watch on a Sunsay before bed and school the next day.

I always loved this movie as a kid and still makes me want to become a fire fighter.
This film changed my life forever. When I see firefighters I think about backdraft and the true American firefighters that protect our communities everyday . And I’ll never forget when all firefighters died on 9/11 . The firefighters in my hometown Santa Barbara are the best and I’m very thankful

I saw this movie when I was like 4-6 years old and it was my favourite movie as a kid. It had the opposite effect as a lot of these comments, I was scared shitless of fire haha.
It made me alittle scared but I love the courage of fighting fires and stopping them

2021 just saw this great movie
i love this movie
When I first watched this movie I wanted to be a firefighter. Turns out all you have to do is apply. I did and I'm a volunteer for over 20 years and seen so much bad, and good. Lost friends one from a heart attack which I held his hand at his last minutes. I drive mostly now and do EMS calls as I'm also a EMT. I could not tell you how many to this day quoat from this movie. At the firehouse we call it the Delmar program which is actually the book version of Firefighter 1. I say it's a requirement to watch before you join. Same with my job in the Petroleum field. I tell everyone you have to watch deepwater horizon. Gets you all rev'd up for the job.

Going through Fire Academy right now! I can not wait to become a fireman/paramedic.
Yeahhhh um there's a reason why my class wasn't shown Backdraft in the academy....its this thing called "a movie." It's not a training film. Take your nomex hood and turn it backward on your face during the fire scenes for a nice authentic experience, otherwise enjoy it for what it is...a pretty damn good movie.

Go to Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago...you can day drink with half the cast and with their sons all real life firemen. Better than the movie growing up with them there.
