  • A very young Paul Kossoff (later to form the group FREE) playing lead guitar in rehearsal. Sometimes, as here, the singer arrived late and, ever keen to play, we'd do some instrumentals. The music is raw and earthy and unedited. My father recorded many of the rehearsals as he enjoyed the music. The band is pictured playing a New Year's Eve concert at London's famous Marquee Club as we bade farewell to 1967. Pictured is Stuart Brooks on Bass guitar (the Brooks brothers formed the band), Paul Kossoff on Lead guitar and myself (Frank Perry 111) on drums - I left shortly after in February and went on to play avant garde improvised music. The music featured is 'Rock Me Baby' (version 1). The two CD set on Sunbeam Records features more music of early Paul Kossoff with the band playing Chicago Blues and there are more instrumentals plus our regular set with vocals and harmonica taken from rehearsals. I make no apologies for the quality of the recording. It was never intended to be released commercially and, more importantly, it is all that there is of Paul Kossoff during this period of his career.
Thanks to Peter James for his assistance. You might be interested to check out Peter's new book due out sometime soon:-
