    Very nice comparison, I love how you switch mid-song, makes it easy to hear the difference. For this piece I prefer the Taylor. To my ear, the midrange sounds more full.

    For me it’s the Furch. I think it had a warmer tone. The Taylor…well….sounded like a Taylor. But I own a Furch Vintage 3 Dreadnaught. Furch guitars are nothing short of amazing!

    Conparison videos are always fun, but I always recommend to go out and play them. All the taylors I've ever played, which is dozens and dozens, suck turbo arse even the 800 series models I've played. There was one 214 plus that I played in Tonawanda that i really liked but for most part they just dont make me feel like they're alive. Experience has generally been a little better with Furch, but only considerably and not substantially.
    If you can afford it, the best thing to do is commission one from a skilled luthier who can tailor the build to every one of your individual needs. I don't make a lot of money, so it was patiently saving for what felt like an eternity but it was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately for any off the rack guitar, they have been optimized for general consumption, so its really just a lengthy numbers game of trying out guitars until you find something you like but never truly love.

    That is a very nice piece, you wrote it? Good for you! Very nice and nicely played! I would say both sound great, but the Taylor sounded sweeter on this particular piece. But I usually prefer the Furch for the more overtones as I hear in person. Maybe it doesn't translate well in this recording. It seems like the Furch is louder and with more sustain.

    Like the majority here, I preferred the Taylor. Sound was a bit more opened up. But the Furch is a beauty and not far behind. Loved your sensitive playing.

    I prefer the Taylor. Less brittle trebles. Felt to my ear that the Furch was a little thin sounding. I am a sound guy for around ten years. I think i am objective.

    Interesting comparison. I'm listening on a desktop with Bose speakers - so decent but not fabulous. For me they are very very similar. On one occasion I'd go for the Furch, but on most others I'd go for the Taylor. The tone sounded a bit more smooth and pure. Both are wonderful instruments. I'd give the nod to the Taylor, but in all honesty I'm not sure if it's due to my bias toward Taylor. I have two 714ce's that I dearly love. Thanks for the post!

    Oh, another thing... I've heard from a guy that the Furch quitars are only designed for a better sound with the Elixir strings (I know, it shouldn't be so ) ... Maybe the Daddario set is the one that makes it less sweet compared to the Taylor ... just a thought

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop ปีที่แล้ว

      Furch guitars really are perfect with Elixer strings. I have been selling them for 20 years and you are right that Elixers really are pefect for them. This video is also comparing a Cocobolo to rosewood - which just seems crazy when a like for like comparison would have been available as Furch do provide a rosewood model - and I also see in the comments that he says the Taylor is 4 years old and guitars naturally become sweeter over time.

    Hi! Nice comparison! Which tune are you playing? Sounds Irish or perhaps Scandinavian... oh, just read: It's original!

  • @RichardsGuitarshop
    @RichardsGuitarshop ปีที่แล้ว

    Simple question.... One that I cant see anyone asking.... Why did you compare a cocobolo Furch against a rosewood Taylor - when Furch also make the Red Deluxe with rosewood back and sides?
    Basically you are comparing two very different sounding guitars so they will sound different - therefore whether people like one or the other doesnt make one or the other better - just maybe people prefer the sound of one wood selection over another.

    • @jasonbussellsmusic8828
      @jasonbussellsmusic8828  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought the cocobolo Furch because I didn’t want to have 2 identical guitars. It’s my understanding that the top is responsible for the sound much, much more than the back and sides. Alamo music did a comparison of the Taylor and Furch with the same tone woods, but I don’t have the benefit of owning a store with multiple guitars from which to choose. Ideally, they’d be the same age, same amount of playing time, same woods, etc. this is as close as I could get.

    Very close, edge to the Taylor, just as warm, but a bit more clear.

    If you want a review from me, pls play something more simple. This arrangement looked hard as heck and it sounded different on both brands. I loved your earlier videos.

      Thanks for the comment. I’m sorry this wasn’t a good comparison for you. I will make others. This is a piece I wrote. Often my covers get flagged for copyright, so that’s why I usually do originals. Thank you for watching though.

    I prefer the Taylor. It was cleaner, and projected more. I love warm, but the Furch just seemed to lack the clarity I want when fingerstyling. I can see the Taylor being heard playing solo in a casual setting with folks talking. It enunciates, while the Furch seemed to hum. So it just depends on what you want and need. Cheers!

    To my ears on this particular demonstration the Furch sounded a bit more compressed and less pronounced vs Taylor which seemed to have more overall clarity and projection. I wonder if the Furch is newer and just has not had as much time to open up vs the Taylor. Both are incredible instruments none the less.

      @@jasonbussellsmusic8828 Oh man you are joking..... so you have compared a 4 year old Taylor with rosewood back and sides and a 2 year old Furch with cocobolo back and sides - I think this should be much clearer

      @jasonbussellsmusic8828  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RichardsGuitarshop if you can please send me a 4 year-old Furch with rosewood back and sides, I’d be happy to film that comparison. I did the best I could with what I’ve got. I find it interesting that most people prefer the Furch even though the top is less mature.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jasonbussellsmusic8828 Yes I am sorry. I became "one of them" - apologies :( I appreciate now you had them to hand and made the comparison and it is what it is - I overthink everything. I love Furch guitars with a passion and personally I would recommend the yellow series for the perfect balance between luxury and tone. You really dont need to spend the money on a red deluxe to get the best from Furch - but they are popular and we sell a lot of them. Yellow though - for me - is the sweet spot in the range :) So sorry for being critical.

    Taylor makes 700 guitars a day. Furch makes 22. I'll take the quality control of Furch over the mass produced Taylor any day.

  • @cbayardelle
    @cbayardelle ปีที่แล้ว

    Same Taylor bright treble, the furch has a warm buttery sound, much better bass, excellent overtones. You have to listen to more complex playing to really appreciate the furch. Taylor is not in the same class

  • @Napalson
    @Napalson ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Jason, both of your tries for Furch pronunciation are not accurate. It neither does not end like MarK nor churCH. If you can pronounce Johan Sebastian BACH correctly, use the same ending with FURCH.

    Taylor to me is way much better sounding in this comparison hands down.I own ten acoustic guitars including Taylor's Martin's and Gibson and I have a pretty good ear when it comes to great sounding guitars and I would sell the Furch or trade for a much better sounding guitar,I'm really picky when it comes to my guitars.But the Furch just doesn't do it for me in my honest opinion
