That bit at the end with the Waltz… y’know the theory that the Egg Man is actually the Everyman bird? I love how the mofifs mirror gaster's life. All undertale motifs disappearing after gaster's fall at 1:57 to be replaced by deltarune ones as he builds his greatest experiment is really cool
In a way I think he might be both. Like, if Flowey is a villain because he cared too little, he was too emotionally detached… Gaster is a villain because he cares too much. He is so attached to this funny little world, so obsessed with its “very very wonderful” characters, that he may be willing to really hurt them from the sole idea that he knows what will help them in the long run. He’s kinda like Walt Disney and his whole EPCOT schtick in a way, in this interpretation.

Dude, the dark fountain sound right here 1:57 kind of surprised me. Like, It's symbolic of how Gaster found out about them and how dark worlds work with darkeners and stuff. Neat!
It may also symbolize him failing into his own creation and becoming victim to his own science. Or did he choose to do this? (Yes I know the thing he fell into is thought to be the CORE, but we don’t know what the creation he made was)
@@baseballscoutI’m still suspicious that Gaster was experimenting with determination. It would fit more neatly into his current activities in Deltarune, plus the CORE is more or less a big geothermal power station, that doesn’t get referenced a lot.
@@Poseidon4862. It also makes sense how Alphys "found the blueprints" to the Determination Extractor machine. Gaster was the one who made the concepts for the machine because he was already experimenting with determination, but never actually bothered to build it because he found something far, far more interesting.
@@gebdemedici Also works with what we learned from Deltarune, that you need Determination to create darkness. The CORE being used for these experiments in some way isn't that out there either. It seems mysterious, like noone currently in the underground truly knows how it works and it even contains structures called "darkness totems".
I like this song, it feels almost anachronistic which is perfect for Gaster, it's like random moments in time observed by the various fragments of him all compiled into one experience that seems coherent, if surreal. Would be very interesting if we get a cutscene like that for Gaster in the actual game.
boy i sure love schrodingerian skeletons with a penchant for delving too deep into the forbidden sciences ((unrestricted thaumaturgy)) and the creation of perfect art ((the abstract made real as flesh and thought)) boy howdy i sure love the mystery of the origins of the soul ((it is formed through living, not through controlling emotional substances and graphs, Wing, _you big nerd_ ))
The way Gaster is depicted in that art makes me think of a smile so wide it's literally splitting his face. A rather gruesome interpretation to pair with a song this beautiful.
I found this track just a few days ago and I can't stop listening to it! At first we hear an intro - not just to Gaster's existence but also the buildup to him becoming the Royal Scientist. 0:44 We do hear some more sinister notes - are they shards of his future (being shattered across time and space) seeping through? Or maybe are those just related to all the uncertainties stemming from the weight on his shoulders? Then we have Another Medium and Core at 1:09, representing his "early" existence as a scientist that helped many monsters by providing near unlimited energy to the underground, a new hope. We can feel the energy in this part, the magnificence of his input for others. Then - 1:57 - a loud noise, a scream of the fabric of universe - during his many experiment, one day he falls victim to his own creation... or did he choose this himself? 2:05 Darkness. Growing. Nothingness... Void... 2:27 Yet he's not done yet, he must pick himself up - he's a scientist after all! He prevails, having motivation to push forward. At the face of unknown it's time to do what scientists do - study this, do experiments... He himself plans a new experiment, even in such a hopeless situation that he's in atm - a new world. His theme plays more and more highly. He's getting there, everything planned - he's not just persevering in the nothingness... he's thriving. 3:06 A breakthrough! he's achieving it! A whole new world... all with the power of his own magic, by his own brain, his own soul. Monsters on the surface... free... happy. With just the movements of his hands, with his imagination - to live comes anything and everything. 3:54 But of course... a world like this needs a player and a good story. Lets give people some of this power... Let them make their own creations from the darkness, with sheer imagination... determination to shape things to their liking! Their own "dark world". Let's create a legend, conflict of interests - Titans that will emerge from trying to shape the world to your liking too much... yet it is those dark worlds that can help them become better versions of themselves. A connection outside of this realm shall be set in motion. A player to connect and start the game... 6:04 *There's a man behind the tree*... The pieces are set... time to see how the game plays out. Of course some nudges here and there to make sure that the story does not go astray... A human shall do fine as a vessel... "Sleep well. The most integral part." Okay, might have started babbling stuff up there but the point - this music conveys so much... the early Gaster, a scientist in underground, the man shattered across time and space... the creation of Deltarune - a one big experiment of Gaster's... we've got so many choices, yet in the end... will they matter? He's observing us... curating our path even if we do not see it at first glance... He's the mastermind behind so much...
Was not expecting to come across a genuine masterpiece on my tl today but I'm sure as hell not complaining -- this was actually beautiful. The composition, the leitmotifs present, and ESPECIALLY the progression. From mystery and wonder, to the pinnacle of scientific greatness, to tragedy and desperation, to despair, to acceptance, and the beginning of a yet greater experiment... Absolutely phenominal work!!
love how the part of the piece representing "falling into his own creation" has the sound of a dark fountain being created. this whole suite is phenominally composed and mixed!!! OH THAT LOST GIRL SECTION.... waltz of seccom masada... such a hearty stew of delicious lietmotifs. oooooh that refusal to resolve at the end. mwah. awesome
This is really cool, like the song is telling a story. The progression makes me think a bit about Sealed Vessel, the grandiose and melancholic feeling this song goes into is something I love to hear, both in music and the way it can paint a picture of who Gaster is.
This song invoked a wide range of emotions, one that I haven't felt toward an Undertale series fanwork in a long time. The song title is poignant. The different tempos, key signatures, and instrumentation styles correlated with Gaster being shattered across time and space, and portrayed his career, accident, simultaneous existence and nonexistence, and contacting us on Twitter, in a cohesive way. I squealed with excitement when I heard the Another medium/CORE motif at the beginning. I love the instrument diversity--hell the church organ reminded me of Interstellar, which I watched two days before listening to your song for the first time. The organ swelling reminded me of the fandom's reaction to Deltarune chapter 1's announcement and release. The piano solo reminded me of 1: the phrase "Beware the man who speaks in hands", 2: it referring to Toby, who is well-known for playing piano, 3: that his programming the games could make him the man who speaks in hands, and 4: piano instrumentation being associated with Gaster. Gaster's Theme isn't overwhelming but pervades the song: like in the Deltarune soundtrack itself, and Gaster's omniscience throughout both games. The music box medley of Deltarune motifs was a fitting ending. Please keep making music.
This is beautiful! I like how it doesn’t feel like video game music; it feels more cinematic because of the orchestral arrangement. I also like how unique it is- it uses leitmotifs sparingly, and it all comes together to make something incredibly original. Truly excellent!
(Gaster interpretation existential crisis thing comment inspired by this song, bonkers and probably very inaccurate but whatever. Please do mind this is probably not "true" existentially speaking and delves into dark existential dread interpretations.) THE SOUL. THE SOUL, IS AN INTERESTING PHENOMENA. IT IS WHAT MAKES YOU A "SPECIAL ORGANISM (OF) UNIQUE LIFE". WHAT IS CONCIOUSNESS? WHAT EVEN IS EXISTENCE ITSELF? IS YOUR REALITY REAL? OR IS IT A MERE CONSTRUCT OF YOUR OWN "IMAGINATION"? IF A STORY HAD LIFE. IF A CREATION HAD A SOUL. PAINTED BY THE VERY ESSENCE OF ITS AUTOR. SUNG BY THE VERY ESSENCE OF THE WORLD. FELT BY THE ONE PLACED UPON THIS WORLD. "PROTAGONIST". HOW REAL, A WORLD CAN BE? HOW REAL CAN YOU BE? DO YOU THINK "IMAGINATION" IS FICTION? A FORM OF UNREALITY? WHAT EVEN IS REALITY, WHEN EVERYTHING A MOMENT LATER IS JUST... A MEMORY? JUST LIKE IN YOUR MEMORY, LIES THE KNOWLEDGE OF A TALE? .... FOR THIS NEXT EXPERIMENT, I MADE A "PROTAGONIST" AWARE. KRIS. KRIS, WILL BE THE SUBJECT OF THIS NEXT EXPERIMENT. KRIS, WHAT WILL YOU DO WHEN YOU KNOW YOUR ACTIONS SEEM TO BE TOLD AND FORETOLD BY SOMEONE ELSE? IN A WORLD WERE YOU'RE THE "PROTAGONIST" WHITHIN IT? WILL YOU BLAME THE PUPPET MASTER? OR ARE YOUR ACTIONS, TRULY YOURS? INTERESTING... VERY INTERESTING... WHAT DO YOU TWO... THINK?
I literally cannot think of a single flaw in this song. It's perfect. The majesticness, the perfect use of motifs, the sense of finality, the feeling that you are truly witnessing the greatest mind across worlds, that you are the core of his greatest experiment, and the results will be so very, very interesting.
Very fitting that it should feel grandiose yet somber, ever changing yet consistently feeling futuristic, and I'm pretty sure I noticed some notes of the core theme in there wich is very fitting given the tiny scraps of what we know for (almost) sure about gaster being he made the core then fell into it
I’ve been a huge fan of Gaster for almost a decade now, and even with the staggering amount of media revolving the character that I’ve interacted with as a result, this piece right here is a contender for the single greatest one that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in my life, seriously incredible work!!! The fact the track is extremely long, gave me the idea of an "Undertale" for Deltarune. (The song that plays when you walk from New Home to the Final Corridor.) This track uses a lot of leitmotifs (awesome ones too), but they aren't abrupt, or used too much, and also transition from one another smoothly, making most of the song original melodies. I love motifs, but i like it more when they're not overused. Very, very excellent job!
Man this is so expressive and cinematographic, the style is far from Deltarune but sounds awesome and unique on its own, and I love how it uses melodies and motifs to tell a story, I don’t see this very often nowadays. I love it, and hope that you will get more audience that will enjoy it as much as I do. Keep it up man!👍🏻
i love this so much. i think it's probably my favourite fanmade gaster theme. it's so unique, there's elements from things that aren't just gaster's theme from the game files. i especially love the bit with CORE, it's so tranquil and calm. this song is just really beautiful. if gaster does ever turn up in deltarune, this is the kind of thing i hope toby fox will compose for him.
this is absolutely criminally underrated. for me, this is the definition of Gaster. this should have at LEAST 100K views, it's the PERFECT gaster theme.
this has shown up repeatedly in my recommended for the last week or so and every time i see it i listen again because thats just how hard this slaps. tickles my brain in all the right ways
boltzmann brain. gaster is in the depths, a fragmented consciousness in the void. a narrative level above the world of deltarune. he is somewhere, everywhere, and nowhere at the same time. he is a brain, with deltarune as his dream.
Good god this is a masterpiece. The use of motifs from both Undertale and Deltarune to create a pastiche of Gaster's entire life (as we think we know it, at least) is such an awesome choice, especially with the PHENOMENAL instruments. It's insane how real some of them sound. That CORE section is agonizingly short; you created such a unique sounding take on the motif only for it to be cut short in its prime just like its creator. I also adore the Lost Girl and Man segments; it's so easy to close one's eyes while listening to them and imagine Gaster observing (orchestrating?) the entire events of Deltarune from just beyond the veil with an enigmatic sense of curiosity and/or satisfaction. This feels like it could be a part of some kind of UT/DR cinematic adaptation with how well produced it is. Fantastic work!!!!
If I am not real to you... ... what if *I* make my own world to write for? What if *they* are not real to *me?* ... why? The pain itself is reason why.
This song has been fueling my deltarune fanart and theories for the past 3 weeks its one of the best gaster fansongs ive heard, up there with my personal favorites, dm dokuros "sign language" and shadrows "dr. Gaster". The motif usage in your song has me on my knees its s O good
oh this is REALLY good i love the way you use leitmotifs; a lot of fan themes just kinda throw them around willy-nilly (its me i'm the one doing that) but all of them sound really natural here. but really just everything about this is peak. excellent job
this is the zenith of UT/DT fan songs, almost nothing in UT/DT fan made content compares to it (i mean that), you are incredible at making music, be proud of what you made!!! this single fan made song is to good for words, i cant believe this came from a UT fan song for GASTER of all things!?!? however, that view count is a true tragedy :(
Holy cow…this is FANTASTIC!!! The Lost Girl melody, the INSTRUMENTATION ohhhh man this is getting my hopes too high!! Thanks for making and sharing this!!
I've listened to this many times since discovering it, and I can say that it's evocative, soothing and the perfect kind of eerie. I hope that you are able to treat us to more music, because I'm an instant fan of your work.
(Inspired me to write smth, not undertale related though.) Somewhere in the confines of a construct made by man, three figures lay in wait... their minds trapped in a false reality. Forged from the ashes of one being, they were formed. A being of light, a being of darkness, and a being brought to life through the imagination of the two... The Beings of Light and Darkness were sent into the construct in a world meant to simulate reality. Their natures were opposed, but they only had each other. And so, despite conflicting moral codes, they found a sort of companionship together, becoming inseparable, like brothers. But the being made from imagination was deemed too dangerous to be kept in the same place and sent far away into a different construct, made to imprison him for all eternity. A human saw how they were being treated and could not stand for it, going into the construct himself to tell the truth to the beings of light and darkness. When he arrived, he found them sparring in a field outside their poorly made home. Upon the two seeing him, they immediately went on the defensive, having never seen another lifeform that wasnt trying to kill them. The three of them fought, but the human eventually resolved the conflict, and desperately tried to show them the truth. This was easier said than done. But eventually, he led them out of the construct. However it wasnt long before they were captured yet again. Relieved from his position, the ARG Master sought to find help. But none came to his aid. The beings of light and darkness, now aware of the truth, sought to destroy the construct once and for all... but they had not the power to do so. Time and time again, they were recaptured, becoming increasingly knowledgeable on how the facility worked. This had... unintended side effects. The duo was being studied by the facility ever since their creation. So, to simulate various situations, they had replicated digital copies of them to put them through the scenarios of their choosing. But the revealing of the truth resulted in these copies gaining awareness of the truth, bit by bit, they learnt of the construct in varying degrees. It wasn't long before one of them escaped. The digital replica of the two beings went out across space and time to learn all of its secrets, free from the bounds of the facility completely. They explored world after world with no consequences. But, in another simulation, a copy of the light and shadow beings fought. One of them, the being of darkness, knew the full truth, while his counterpart was oblivious. They fought, trying to prove the other wrong. In the end, the being of darkness was victorious. But, this came at the cost of his counterparts life. The world he was in fractured, shattered, until all that remained was an Abyss... there, he drifted endlessly... no light, no hope... until he had a thought. 'What exists beyond a world without code?' Reality. Using all the power he could muster, the being absorbed the darkness around him into himself... becoming powerful enough to step out of the construct in physical form. Vantius. Darkness Incarnate. That was what he was. He sought to end the cycle of torment created by the facility. And take revenge on the beings of light and shadow who he and his counterpart had been meant to copy, as they learnt the truth, and that caused his world to die. The facility evacuated swiftly, taking the beings of light and darkness with them, and trapping Vantias in the old facility with a dimensional barrier that none could enter or exit. Vantius ventured back into the construct, arriving in a simulation. Without the presence of either light or dark being, the construct created a new world, and new copy of the two beings. Vantias swiftly ended the lives of these two beings, and went about the simulations to do the same, until he eventually discovered the two unbound copies. They never stood a chance, and were annihilated in seconds. 1 year passed, and things returned to normal. The beings of light and darkness had settled down in the simulations, after the Facility granted them a new companion, named Flame. The being of darkness surprisingly fell in love with the simulated lifeform, even willing to forget about escape, and life out the rest of its existence in the simulation. But once she had completed her purpose, flame was wiped from the system, and the being of darkness declared to himself that he would *_never_* be satisfied in a reality forged by the construct. They destroyed that simulation, and soon broke free. The being of darkness, still distraught over the loss of his would-be love interest, attempted to kill everyone in the facility, but the being of light refused to let him. The two fought, and were ultimately put back in the construct. One day, Vantius found the two, determined to kill them, he rushed forward, sure that their end would be now. But they did not die. They came back. And Vantius was defeated for the first time, his soul split across various forms. One day, the facility experienced a blackout... and the being forged from the imagination of the two was released from his prison after so very long, annihilating the doors of his prison with just the wave of his hand, and stepped out into the facility, completely dismantling the construct in the process. He released his brothers, and left without a word, annihilating anyone that tried to stand in his way. For the first time, they saw the real sun. It was just like the simulations, bright as ####. The facility attempted to capture them, but fortunately, the construct was destroyed by the imagination based being. They walked off to another reality, and the facility followed after, intent on capturing them again. This proved difficult, as they began to find friends, despite their lack of social skills, and this made recapturing them very difficult. The cycle repeats... Escape and capture. Death and Revenge. Vantius' return. Over and over in an endless cycle it continued. Would there ever be an end?

@@redsphinx113 gaster, is that u?
The most integral part."
Okay, might have started babbling stuff up there but the point - this music conveys so much... the early Gaster, a scientist in underground, the man shattered across time and space... the creation of Deltarune - a one big experiment of Gaster's... we've got so many choices, yet in the end... will they matter? He's observing us... curating our path even if we do not see it at first glance... He's the mastermind behind so much...
Absolute cinema
Was not expecting to come across a genuine masterpiece on my tl today but I'm sure as hell not complaining -- this was actually beautiful. The composition, the leitmotifs present, and ESPECIALLY the progression.
From mystery and wonder, to the pinnacle of scientific greatness, to tragedy and desperation, to despair, to acceptance, and the beginning of a yet greater experiment...
Absolutely phenominal work!!
*phenomenal, lmao

ME WHEN I FUCKIGN GET YOU!!1!1
it also appears at 3:25

love how the part of the piece representing "falling into his own creation" has the sound of a dark fountain being created. this whole suite is phenominally composed and mixed!!! OH THAT LOST GIRL SECTION.... waltz of seccom masada... such a hearty stew of delicious lietmotifs. oooooh that refusal to resolve at the end. mwah. awesome
Don't know if anyone else has noticed this- but the video is 7:06 minutes long which could also be incorrectly read as 6:66... VERY clever...
Indeed. I think "Tw Room" did It first though
I don’t follow? How do you incorrectly read that ?

This is really cool, like the song is telling a story. The progression makes me think a bit about Sealed Vessel, the grandiose and melancholic feeling this song goes into is something I love to hear, both in music and the way it can paint a picture of who Gaster is.
Holy shit youre right😊
This song invoked a wide range of emotions, one that I haven't felt toward an Undertale series fanwork in a long time.

THE DARKEST DESIRE OF THE HUMAN MIND

Man, the idea of giving out eggs was almost as big enough a point as falling
(Gaster interpretation existential crisis thing comment inspired by this song, bonkers and probably very inaccurate but whatever. Please do mind this is probably not "true" existentially speaking and delves into dark existential dread interpretations.)
THE SOUL.
Mysterious, dark, epic, emotional. Amazing.
The fact the track is extremely long, gave me the idea of an "Undertale" for Deltarune. (The song that plays when you walk from New Home to the Final Corridor.)
This track uses a lot of leitmotifs (awesome ones too), but they aren't abrupt, or used too much, and also transition from one another smoothly, making most of the song original melodies.
I love the story told within this song!
These long drawn out notes, the grandiose orchestral score, THE INCREDIBLY SMART USAGE OF LEITMOTIF.
boltzmann brain. gaster is in the depths, a fragmented consciousness in the void. a narrative level above the world of deltarune. he is somewhere, everywhere, and nowhere at the same time. he is a brain, with deltarune as his dream.
What if *they* are not real to *me?*
... why?
The pain itself is reason why.
Is that a cut, or a part of your eye?
The gash weaves as if you cry.
The pain itself is reason why.

Somewhere in the confines of a construct made by man, three figures lay in wait... their minds trapped in a false reality.
'What exists beyond a world without code?'
Reality.
