    The controlled and gentle hammer tap with the metal hammer is an important step also, as you showed.
    It creates a vibration that allows the oil to penetrate better.
    In different applications, not a crankshaft on an engine but a fastener that may be corroded in some way, a more aggressive tap might disturb the rust and the oil can flow in.

    Then before you go to refit the bolt, make sure it's in good order or replace then put copper grease on the threads . 👍. A handy topic at this time of year Matt.

    Your claw hammer looks a bit iffy, is the shaft loose? The shaft ought to go to the top of the head.

      I know mate. Is been semi repair a few time but rest assured the head is secure.
