- A man films an amazing walk across the world's deepest frozen lake, walking across Lake Baikal in Siberia.
"Walk on the incredibly transparent, crystal clear ice. It felt like I was standing on the water or walking on a very fragile glass. Despite this, I knew it's safe to be there as thickness of ice was about 15cm,
I could clearly see the bottom of the lake, stones, fish. All of this made me feel like I was looking into a fairyland, which never existed anywhere apart from dreams. Such a miracle. Iced Baikal is something really extraordinary and mesmerizing" the filmer wrote online.

Nah, only very thin ice. This apparently is 15cm thick
Ice doesnt really make a noise when you walk on it unless its snow or frost on the ice
Only thin ice cracks, but it is dangerous to walk on it. This sound of danger and therefore difficult to enjoy it, unless, of course, you go on a frozen puddle.
Hell, you can't even go to the store without hearing some God awful shit music poured into your head. People would probably explode if they had to go 10 seconds without some stupid noise playing.

For a lake that big I will say that is the clearest lake I’ve ever soon. The water is so beautiful and clear and u can see everything with detail on the bottom.
How is the ice so clear! Every time I walk on a frozen lake where I'm from, it's always white all over and you can't actually peer down through it and see the Rocky bottom!
Yes it is trully strange ,it seems that the water is incredibly pure and also that it is equaly frozen from the surface to the bottom...and also another kind of phenomena assured whn the crack occured and hot full of another flow of ice! it is very strange...I wonder what the people around think about it , if they find this is usual or no...
Water bodies arent the same... Hence you find murky(can't find the right word) oceans and some much clearer. Same goes for lakes.
i known for a fact ice gets clear if its gets cold slowly and by the nature not with the help of a human as well this water is probably drinkable not salty (i think) so it makes it more pure
It is clear like that because I’ve lived on Lake Erie and when it’s frozen there no waves stirring up muke and dirt or sand I wld only walk abt 20 ft out though

That guy from next door really? That’s cool, I had no idea! Thanks for the info!!
@@JohnSmith-we7tb Haha yea if it was frozen all the way down where would the fish go? and how would they all suddenly reappear. So yes it is not frozen all the way down. In the summer the lake thaws and it's 80/90 degrees in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, etc. then all the fish are out of where they are, the seaweed, during the freezing over of the lake.

Lake Baikal (5,315 feet [1,620 meters])
Lake Baikal in Siberia, holds the distinction of being both the deepest lake in the world and the largest freshwater lake, holding more than 20% of the unfrozen fresh water on the surface of Earth.
Why is Lake Baikal so deep?
Lake Baikal is so deep because it is located in an active continental rift zone. The rift zone is widening at a rate of about 1 inch (2.5 cm) per year. As the rift grows wider, it also grows deeper through subsidence. So, lake Baikal could grow wider and deeper in the future.
