    Poor Catherine. She was a child that became a pawn in the games of court politics. She was taken advantage of by every adult in her life. Thank you for the video!

    Poor thing. She was so young, left to raise herself and had no education. Truly a victim of the times. Great video, Jon!

      Thank you so much for watching Trish! Catherine’s story is indeed tragic-she was incredibly young and lacked guidance, which made her especially vulnerable in those times.

      She did receive some education as she could read and write, as well as music & dancing.

    Her story is so sad: a young, naive girl.... her family put her in a very dangerous position to get higher status for themselves. Thank you for the video.

      It’s such a sad story-being young and naive in the Tudor court was like walking through a minefield. Poor Catherine never really stood a chance.

    Catherine was so very young. I dont think she deserved to die the way she did. She was just a kid and she made many stupid mistakes. Dont we all though. Henry didnt give her a chance. Hi Jon! Thanks for this awesome video! May Catherine rip.😢

      Thank you Theresa! If only Henry had been a bit more forgiving, history might have looked different. Catherine’s story is a reminder that youth and mistakes go hand in hand, especially in a place like court!

    Poor young girl being used like that by her horrible family the Howard's. I think she just wanted to be loved but instead she was used and lost her head as I have mentioned before I studied tudor history for many years some people think she could of been as young as 17 when she was executed

    • @HistoryRoadshow

      @HistoryRoadshow yes her family basically used her and admittedly she was a silly young girl bless her as I have said before I find henry the 8th so fascinating but my auntie did say its a good job I was not alive in tudor times my auntie said henry would have my head off before speaking 10 words as I don't molly cuddle my words

    I guess that, for that period, she was not considered that young. But that does not mean that what happened to her was deserved, she just was unfortunate enough to be part of Henrys VIII chaotic romantic life.

    • @HistoryRoadshow
      @HistoryRoadshow  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re right-by Tudor standards, she may not have been seen as that young, but she was still vulnerable in a very unpredictable court. Henry’s turbulent love life brought tragedy to many.

    When we talk of tyrants Henry never seems to come up yet he executed 72,000 people in his 36 year reign, thats 2,000 a year or 160 a month, given the population was around 2 million thats about 4% that he executed in the most brutal of ways.

    • @HistoryRoadshow
      @HistoryRoadshow  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Those numbers really highlight the harsh reality of Henry’s rule. It’s a sobering reminder of how dangerous life could be under his reign.
