@@ducatarina u named some great 1s and Erick Sermon is a contemporary of most of them. 1 thing, I think u didn’t consider when u began naming names is that Erick Sermon was the primary producer for multiple artists LPs. He did entire classic LPs for EPMD, Redman and Keith Murray, and he was high in demand by other popular emcees and r&b acts in the 90’s. There’s a few of those cats u named, like Johnny J and Easy Mo Bee who r great producers but they really only made multiple 1 offs with a few great artists, like 2Pac and BIG. When u consider the volume of great music Erick Sermon has made in comparison to some of the other cats, it’s not a stretch at all to say he’s a top 10 hip hop producer ever. I’m betting u his contemporaries like Dre, Primo, Pete Rock, Q-Tip and Large Professor would agree.

I met Erick a long time ago. This dude from my hood, his uncle ran a catering business and they'd cater from B-Movies, soap operas to all types of music videos. The video was Bombdiggy. Red, Meth, I think Aaron Hall (and few other can't remember them all, a lot of cameos in that video) were there all them were cool. They ate with catering crew and the 'regulars' on the set... now Keith Murray... Boi was wildin' out. One of my homes who was with us was getting sigs (autographs) from all them guys on a paper plate and when he got Murray's back it was covered with blood from his hand. Bro was sweaty and talking about he had to handed some dude out back or out front. Real fidgety dude, couldn't keep still for 💩, constantly moving around like something was off with him.

The reason why “people’” put an age limit on hip hop is because it’s generally “young people’s” music. The culture, the dancing, the topics people rap about, the dress code all of it is stuff the younger generation does. I don’t agree with it but that’s what it is. Not to mention the record company executives don’t see a profit in older, mature, positive rapping artists.

Radio needs to celebrate the Foundation and its contributors, on regular rotation, very regular rotation. I always say what E said about Foundation Hip Hop artists not getting the same love as a Bruce Springfield or even a James Ingram, or damn even the same love that Super Cat gets. Cause in reggae culture we celebrate our Foundation artists and give them flowers by the minute. Juice Crew and BDP should be doing Wembly numbers right now come on.
