Yoooo we have DID and we had a concussion like a year ago or something and it was super similar to what you described. It was a weeirddd experience. -- Charlie
Ugh concussions suck! When we had our accident it felt like everyone was floating in space. Switching felt more dreamlike than ever. I hope you all recover well
Hello I am Daysha-Rea and the main host of my system of thirteen. I hit my head while climbing a stone wall at public park a few months ago. I end up with concussion. I, Daysha-Rea while using the body could not have the lights on or walk around in straight line for a week. But The Doll are secondary host was almost completely fine walking around and cooking with all the lights on in the house. During this week two of are Alters who almost never front found themselves in control of the body multiple times.
For the foreign language speaking alter, have any of you tried Google or other translating apps as a way to begin communication? I'm working with an alter who is veryyyyy old and speaks best in old world English 😅 we Google... A lot.
I wake up in that spacey fog literally everyday. 🍁 lmao 🤷🏼♀️😂 Also, I hope everyone is feeling better!! It really is fascinating that everyone is experiencing something different!
I have a concussion story but its a bit embarrassing 😅 but hey here goes! So my girlfriend and i (alex current host) do mower rides with my wife and i's neices. We hook up a wagon to the back of the mower and take them down the road for some sight seeing (we live in a gorgeous historical farming community so the sights are somethin else). Well I was sitting in the back of the wagon with the girls in front of me and my girl had stopped the mower in the yard because she saw one of the cats laying in the grass and was concerned that she wasnt moving at all. Well I got into a crouched stand cause I planned to hop out to check on her but I didnt let my girl know and she let off the brake and the mower lunged forward and agressively jerked the wagon with it catching me off guard and literally throwing me out of the wagon backwards. All the bodies weight came down on the head which met the ground first and was now crunched in the weirdest position we have ever experienced as when I hit the ground 3 switches happened in a matter of seconds then came back to me (super freakand scary and uncomfortable may i mention). My girls soda cup I had in my lap had flown out of my hands and hit the ground so hard it actually busted the cup in 4 pieces. As soon as we hit the ground I knew I had injured the head pretty bad but my first instinct was to stand straight up, dust off and laugh it off. So thats what I did XD. Our perception was instantly changed. The head and thoughts got super foggy and the back of the head going down the neck and into the eyes was throbbing intensely with the weirdest aching pain we've ever felt. My girlfriend was panicking and had parked the mower and come over to me. I told her i was ok, that I shouldnt have stood up But I was ready to go now. Reluctantly she said ok and we went for a 30 min ride and we really started to feel the concussion then. Slightly nauseous, dizzy, achey etc. But we made it! By the time we got back to the house my gf got super worried because my left pupil was dialated and my right was ever so slightly smaller than than normal. She immediately thought brain injury and took us to the ER. They told me that though different size pupils are a sign of that and I did in fact have a rather severe concussion it was the way my neck had bent and how the body crunched the head into the hard ground that threw my signals out of whack. They released me but told my girl to keep a seriously close eye on me and if I started getting confused and couldnt remember my name, age or the date to immediately bring me back in. So we went home and as soon as I sat on the bed the weird switchy dream state kicked in. I wish the switches had been made easier but it gave everyone who fronted as well as me, a horrible headache as well as alters literally being jerked into the car and having to front longer than normal because they felt a disconnect and couldnt go back in right away. We were put on bed rest for a week and told to baby it the week after that. It took a total of 3 weeks and 4 days to fully be normal and for the switches to slow down and the headaches to stop. Dom still calls me an idiot among other things I wont mention for standing up without telling my girl first and I cant blame him XD. Anyways yeah, thats my embarassing concussion story (id say "ours" but I know the others wouldn't be as stupid as I was lol). Glad you guys are feeling better and healed up! -Alex
I can somewhat relate to the part about the concussion messing with your disorder and making some parts worse. This is coming from a person who doesn't have DID, but is autistic. When I had my concussions, it messed with my autistic traits like no tomorrow. I had a stronger reaction to my sensory aversions than usual, had a harder time focusing on things and coping with things than usual, and developed new sensory aversions. For example, I developed a sensory aversion to looking at snow on a sunny day. I don't remember looking at snow being so painful before my concussions. Concussions with a brain condition are no joke!
The connection of easier switching and a concussion is fascinating! And how differently the head injury affects different alters is amazing! I hope someone researching DID is watching your videos as well as Multiplicity, DissociaDID and Pinata. Seriously yall could be THE case study group for DID research...totally wowed by your system's content. Thank you for sharing
Hi! I'm a new subscriber and I wanted to say I hope you're feeling better. I thought this was really interesting because a concussion happens when your brain, which is normally floating in a nice soft bed of jelly, is banged against your skull and is "bruised". BTW, I'm not in the medical field, so I don't have legitimate terms for what happens, this is just my understanding. Anyway, I was thinking that if each of your alters lives in a different area of the brain, and parts of your brains were "bruised" more than others, then those alters more affected by the concussion are the ones who live in the bruised areas. It's just a thought to keep the conversation going. Again, hope your feeling better!
Yes.. Also hope that You all feeling better soon! :) However how long will it take until it is better? :D But it really is recommended not doing so much now, I guess.. :(
That's old first aid rules, I don't think that's still practice though. You're not supposed to sleep if you get a concussion and throw up/have nosebleeds (you should SERIOUSLY go to the hospital if that happens that shits not okay) but otherwise it's not a big deal to sleep. Just lay on your side and take care of yourself
We get a lot of concussions. Which isn't good. We have one right now, actually. Usually our concussions result in flashbacks, which is never fun but they also just feel all floaty and weird. And yeah, switching is way easier for us too. -Toby
The many languages in your system are fascinating. Do you know if it’s possible for an alter to break off already knowing a language (or any other information) that no one else in the system knows? Because that would imply a really amazing depth of subconscious knowledge
As far as I'm aware, the body and brain have to learn a certain skill for any alter to have it. So in order for an alter to speak Spanish, the system has to have learnt Spanish at some point. However, an alter could be speaking something that all other system members recognize as being Spanish, even though any actual spanish speaking person would not understand as it's not the real thing, but rather a gibberish that the brain made up as Spanish. So translating apps don't always work.
I believe the Aether system mentioned an alter who speaks Russian, even though the system doesn't know more than a few words. No actual Russian would understand what said alter is saying because it's not really Russian, it just kind of sounds like it could be, but apparently he (?) Doesn't speak any other language. Interestingly they mentioned in another video it was helping the alter to look at translations with both the Russian word and the English word together, for him (?) To understand English. I'm guessing what he thinks he is doing is translating into Russian but what the brain is doing is litteraly read the English word and share the learnt skill of speaking English (hope this makes sense to you)
I hope you all feel better soon! I don't have did, but I dissossiate a lot (I pretty much always have) and I found out the hard way that it is MUCH worse during a concussion. Maybe (big maybe) Parcifal is active in the parts of the brain that are the most affected? Could that be why he has it worse than you?
My boyfriend had a Concussion when he was little. And about a week later his first alter was created and startet to front. There could be a connection there

Ohh man..feel better, everyone. So weird how the body reacts like that. Well...if I got a concussion, I'd never know..*coughs* 😂

DE2017 Thank you! I think it'll take around 2 weeks or so before it's supposed to be fully recovered, so it won't be too bad

I heard that you're not supposed to sleep after a concussion cuz u could end up slipping into a coma but idk if that's true
That's old first aid rules, I don't think that's still practice though. about what age? just curious, pls don’t answer if for any reason u don’t wanna
Take good care of yourself. Concussions are really scary.
We have never really had a concussion, but we get it would be horrible. - Oliver
