Goosebumps throughout the entire song! I bought this album without ever hearing a note("I Wanna Be Somebody" video wasn't in rotation on MTV yet), and hearing Blackie's voice for the first time was, hands down, my greatest, pleasant surprise in heavy metal. I was expecting more punky, grating vocals, but I got an earful of someone who would become one of my favorite vocalists. I've only seen them twice, but they never disappoint. "Sleeping in the Fire" choked me up both times. My father thought I was evil/possessed/the devil incarnate, because I was born with an unusual, and dark, eye color, and this song brought a way to change up how I was going to be seen by him, by embracing the darkness, and turning the tables on him, without losing who I am. 🎶💖🎶

It's a song from the vietnam war era and the band itself is not that well known, but this song in particular is one of the best sombre tunes you will ever hear. It's a fairly simple composition of vocals and a bass guitar, but combine that with the lyrics and the song has quite the impact.
Yes! More throwback Thursday! This is my favorite series that you do...I loved "make a sistah cry", but since I'm older, this is the kind of stuff I grew up watching. Wasp and Dokken are tied with my two favorite bands of all time for good reasons. Both bands have epic singers, incredible songs and insane guitars. I'm starting to think I like Wasp just a bit more.
It seems like a lot of people interpret this song to be about Lucifer or the devil. But its meaning is more about addiction. An addiction to evils in life whether it be drugs, alcohol, lust, greed etc. Those addictions will consume and the parallels to Lucifer, lies and deception are lyrically made as those addictions consume and deceive us into believing we are better with them. That’s been my understanding of this song since the 80s when it first came out.
