Nice spot to wake up. Mesh jobbie looks ok for summer stuff. Food of the Gods for your supper there. Beans and white sliced! Made up for it with a good breakfast, had my mouth watering 😋
Hi Rich, good to see you fighting fit after COVID. I was supposed to be out on a camp this weekend but alas, after evading it for so long, the dreaded virus has also darkened my doorstep! That looked like a nice relaxing camp though and I like the look of the mesh tent, the outer flysheet looks good for it too and makes for a nice baker tent. Branston beans and sausages are definitely a cut above the rest and a darn site cheaper than those nasty wayfarer meals too! Thanks as always for bringing us along 👍
Oh no Gavin I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the vaccines have at least helped take the edge off a bit? Wishing you a speedy recovery mate - my advice is just take it easy and sleep when you feel like it for a good while after it passess. I must admit I was feeling a bit smug with the beans, thinking I'd have been over the moon with a Real Turmat meal costing over a tenner that was as tasty as that 🙂. Hope to see you back out there in the wild before long too sir. Thanks for watching and very best wishes. Rich 👍
Good to see you back out Richard. Let's hope that's the last of the Covid. Now then I never knew that Branston was so good - even better than Heinz? Gotta give em a go. Superb set up there. I've checked out the Helikon because I was looking for something similar the other day. Thanks. As for the mesh tent it's led me to the Forclaz FREESTANDING MOSQUITO TENT. Well, good going. Have a great week. Mark
As ever great minds think alike Mark! It was a nice comfortable setup I must admit. And have a try of the Branson's - a lot tastier and thicker sauce I reckon. Going to catch up with your wild swim vid in a bit - take care sir! And thanks. Rich 👍
@@CottonBud They seem to Richard. I've actually been looking for a mesh set up. Good going. Yeah, gonna get some Branson's in - give em a go. The swim? It was fun!
Oh yes,,, so glad to witness you being a bread n butter dunker into baked beans, Rich 🙌 Looked good mate! May I say, I would have just eaten out of the silicone pouch 😊 Loved this camp out and glad you didn’t get spotted by the MTB’ers. That fried egg looked professional 😍 I wanted to lick the screen!!! Glad the bugs were kind to you sir! How many mile hike home did you say? 😲😲😲
No you’re absolutely right Mr B, I would have liked to have eaten out of the pouch too, but it’s a nightmare as it won’t stay open - you have to use the fingers of one hand to prop it open whist scooping scalding hot beans past them - believe me I’ve tried, and got the blisters to prove it! A shame… if I was an entrepreneur I would make some which were designed for solo campers. For now, it has to get decanted to a usable bowl sadly. But yeah, sausage and egg sarnie was the tops at least! Cheers fella. Rich. 👍
@@CottonBud Aha, tested out already. Nothing beats experience. I didn’t think about trying to keep it open. Good man 😉👍🏼 Keep on getting out there my friend!
Tidy set up Rich , looks well suited to summer camps being nice and airy . Breakfast of kings in the morn looked very tasty , quite a few folk getting over a 2nd dose of the Rona lately . Tfs atb Dave
My gut instinct is that there are more people ill with it recently than ever before Dave. I think it’s going to wipe us all out every couple of years until we die prematurely from all the complications and long term effects. Still, all the more reason to piss the life savings up the wall on camping gear now then eh? Every cloud 😅. Cheers mate - stay well! Rich 👍
@@teeeff5179 Will deffo keep that one in mind, thank you! The reason I tend to stick with Maker's (apart from it being very nice, especially for an Old Fashioned) is that I can get a bottle next day on Amazon Prime, and at a really good price. I'm a cheap and impatient man! 😅
@@CottonBud i can well understand that! TBH the Woodford seems a little hard to come by. odd bit of "life is strange" trivia for you: my Mrs insisted that i keep the bottle because she loves it. well, i loved what was in it so we each got something we liked. 😀
I've seen a few youtubers use this mesh tent Rich, seems pretty decent, certainly better than the Sea to Summit cobweb thing I used a few vids back. Nice peaceful camp matey 👌
Yeah it seems pretty good, although I can't quite get my head around the very thin bathtub. I think I'll take my DD Magic Carpet along next time, which is an identical footprint it seems. Yeah you didn't get on with the cobweb did you? That was one I was looking at too, thanks for taking a bullet on that mate 😅. Cheers for watching Lee, got your new one lined up to watch very shortly... 👍
It's important to take on as much fluids as possible mate! 🍻🍻 cheers! My next trip I'm definitely going to use a camo tarp like yours. I used a bright bloody blue one!
Nice one, really like that tarp and mesh tent setup. Also, floor is very similar to that of the Stratospire 2. Can't fully vouch for it yet, but seems to hold out ok.
Thanks Rich - that's reassuring. I do have the DD 'Magic Carpet' which is the exact same dimensions as the floor of this tent and could be pegged out with it as a second underlayer. Tougher nylon too. Always an option if I'm worried. Can't wait to see the new tent but for now enjoy your hols - looks perfect! Rich 👍
Great camp again A frame looks great just the inner length may be a bit tight for me mind they do extra large but the footprint area gets so big But it’s great to prevent spiders and slugs, the slime is awful if it gets in the bivy !!!!! What table have you got there Enjoyed this Cheers
Thanks Adrian, glad you enjoyed it! I’m just over 6 foot and it certainly seemed like I had a fair gap between head, toes and tent sides. It is a lot better for taller folk than the pyramid versions I believe - for a start there is a vertical ‘wall’ of mesh behind your head, so it doesn’t slope as it goes up. With you on slug juice 🤢. Table is an Alpkit Splitta, with a bit of non slip stuff I cut to size on top. I think a few companies do identical ones to be honest, maybe even OEX? Cheers for the watch and comment sir. 👍 Rich
Thank you! I've only used it 2 or 3 times so far and it hasn't leaked, but I could say that it may come open if it was really squashed in the rucksack. I would recommend (ironically perhaps) putting it in a plastic bag to be extra safe, but using this for rubbish/dirty cookware afterwards - preferably washing that and reusing it too! Ideally someone would invent one a bit more bombproof so you could avoid additional plastics. Cheers. Rich 👍
Hi, i see you also love your soulo for windier camps . But I'm a little confused . Do you set up your tarp with wind coming in at main entrance , along the side or at the back . Seems easier to start by hold tarp and set it up with wind coming in from main entrance towards back . Please help
Well here if I recall it probably was coming in at the main entrance, but after sunset the wind dropped to nothing and remained like that all night so I was ok. The idea was to get a bit of a draft through as it had been quite hot weather - as it happened, it went unexpectedly cold that night! Generally here in the chilly UK, I would put the largest, closest to the ground side of any tarp setup into the wind, to keep it off my back. Hope this helps. Cheers. 👍

Beans, sausages, cheese and bread. A proper tea! Great content
Not gonna win Masterchef but it hit the spot! Cheers 👍
