In drier climates, I don't know, but in wetter climes in the east, if you clear an area of forest, also removing the debris, thousands, if not millions, of flowers take over that opening for a few years. Then by five to seven years, you have head high trees back again.
I am 71 and I would do this in a heartbeat.
