Taehyung was raised by his Grandma as his primary caretaker. His parents worked away from home. He was devastated when she suddenly became ill and died while he was overseas on tour when he will still a teenager. He said she was more like a mother to him. He wrote Winter Bear for her. He slept in bed with her every night when he was little. He grew up listening to her older music and watching her older movies and fell in love with the sounds and the fashion.
When he was still quite young, Tae knew he wanted to sing and play music and dance and his parents encouraged him to follow his dreams, which is why he took up saxophone and trumpet and singing and dancing, years before Big Hit ever found him. He was signed because Big Hit came to his Music Hagwon (afterschool private school for performing arts) to audition some of the older students and he came along with some of the other younger students to watch the auditions and cheer on their friends. The scouts from Big Hit got a look at him and said "We want to see that kid audition." That's where the famous story of the accidental audition while being there to support his friend came from.
Tae mentioned that the album is called ‘layover’ as it’s a stop in a journey and not the final destination. He said it reflects his plan to do several albums trying out different styles until he reaches his final goal (destination) with the sound he wants to express with his music. This album is to show us his real musical tastes as Kim Taehyung and not bts v. He did a great job .
I agree he did a great job, so far I have all 6 members solo cd’s , waiting on JK’s to be released.

Layover is a masterpiece I swear, all the songs are so chill and soothing, you can tell V put a lot of thought into his album, everything is so artistic, all the songs suits his deep voice so much, his album broke so many records too, V is finally making the music that he wanted for so long and I am so proud of him💜💜

This whole album is a masterpiece! Not even one piece of pop corn on that album, so refreshing! Tae's creativity is on another level. You don't come across concepts like that, music like that, and voice like that in pop industry often at all. Each time I listen to his songs I get something different out of them. This is the kind of music that may not have the immediate mass appeal but actually has staying power.
V is different and special from all of K-Pop. Love this song! V's music takes me back to my younger days when slow dancing to this genre of music was the thing. The interaction between him and Yeontan is so special! In previous MVs He is going through the phase after breakup.. And here he is creating his world to be happy.. In rainy days too he was creating many miniatures of his own face, He was trying to create something in that mv so may be he was creating this world..
This is what I think..
Tae's very soulful voice is perfect for this type of music. A natural. However because of his vocal range we don't get to hear it often. This type of music is timeless to me. Something that I will always go back to and listen to over and over again. The image that you see whie they're driving down the winding mountainside is the image of Tae's actual dog. Yeontan. Because the entire video series for Layover was filmed in Spain (a little under 2 weeks for all 5 videos) he found a look a like doggo named Rocky. We called Tannie the 8th BTS member. I think our 2 musicians will love watching Tae perform on Tiny Desk Korea.
