Looks like I'm going to be voting for my favorites games (Like Suikoden and BOF) and hopefully they come into GOG. Plus they are also DRM free which would be great for everyone to keep.

I really wish Capcom would just release a "Pixel Remaster" style collection for BoF 1-4. I can't imagine that game not selling.

The problem was that BoF was always a niche series. I mean, it's well known, but it never got SUPER popular.
@@Theguywholikedthethinginthevid to be fair, that's true of a lot of JRPGs. There's a reason the Suikoden games can be hard to track down and cost a small fortune when you do find them. Yet, Konami is releasing a remaster. So there's always hope.
I would buy a Breath of Fire collection in a heartbeat. It's a pity the franchise isn't around anymore.
@@drewtheunspoken3988 But Konami is currently desperate to get the boomer audience on their side again, because they can't go anywhere without them, and has been working on a large scale game catalog revival... with Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Suikoden is part of that.
Now Capcom is an immensely more successful company, in fact so stacked with big hit franchises that they chose to abandon most of their classic franchises like Megaman and BOF is included (and even Street Fighter was abandoned for some time), to favor Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, etc. So BOF has a small importance for them, and they aren't in a moment of wanting to please their boomer audience. They don't need any of that. So that's the difference between the two companies.

I think Vagrant Story would need improvements, and just a basic port would probably not stick with a lot of people besides the players that already know it

breath of fire 4 was my favorite growing up. That "twist" in the story hit me like a punch in the face as a kid.
I really do hope we get it back, it would be nice to walk down memory lane again.

Unlikely in my opinion, because BOF has so little value to Capcom. But a basic port has some chance.

I believe Breath of Fire IV has been on there to vote on for longer, probably because it's the only BoF game that already had a PC version if I'm not mistaken. And BoF III now has almost 400 votes more than II, so maybe PS fans were slow to get on board. lol

I voted for all of the BoFs, all of the Vandal Hearts, and Vanguard Bandits, and you've reminded me of a lot of others I need to vote for.
And holy moly, Freelancer is *annihilating*. I mean, I liked Freelancer, but I can't say with absolute certainty that I've really thought about it in the last twenty years.
Please give us the first 4 games as some sort of remaster or even just straight ports on modern systems.
Please not just ports. The translation on the first two need ALOT of work.
@@Swaytekk yeah that's a fair statement. I played the second game with the ryusui patch and enjoyed it recently but your definitely on the money about the original translations needing an update.

BoF 3 has such a good place in my heart. Even though my brother played FF7 and it was amazing, I enjoyed BoF sooo so much. It just love it.

im not gonna lie when i saw the thumbnail I was like don't give me hope for a new game in the series but after hearing its to port or get the first games ported to pc I was like oh that be nice! Dood love your videos!

I want a breath of fire collection, like the Mega Man ones. All four of the original games...maybe even DQ, on one disk, maybe with some cheats baked in, and sharp and crisp as they can be made.
Even if Capcom has little interest in continuing working on BOF (as even Megaman is abandoned, and it's much bigger than BOF), at least it could get a retro collection.

Breath of fire 2 especially holds such a special place in my heart despite all its issues.
I would pay full price for a HD-2D style remake of that (or any of the 4). But a collection or even just a retranslated bug fix port would be fine.
BOF3 and 4 don't need a remake, maybe only 1 and 2. Even so, 1 and 2 are fine with just hd remasters, qol features, other fixes, and a new translation.

Konami just had two major collaborations with Poncle for Vampire Survivors, which has reignited interest in the entire Castlevania series. If Capcom did something like that, they might see there's a bigger market for the classics than what they realize, and be willing to rerelease them to newer platforms (PCs too). I would love to be not only able to play the games again, but also a new entry to the BoF series.
Basically the only classic franchises (created until 94-95) that exist for Capcom are Street Fighter in first place and maybe Megaman... not much for new games (that don't exist) but for other forms of advertising it. BOF is not in their range of interests sadly. And that's also very different from Konami's recent behavior. They actually are caring for making their franchises notable again. Meanwhile Capcom is so big that they can safely forget BOF.
Great, I'm upvoting the whole series. Even if we don't a Breath of Fire game, we get one of the characters playable in a Vs fighter which then increases the chances of a new game.

Ogre Battle & Tactics Ogre games deserve some more love there.
Tactics Ogre has a recent remaster, it's very well now. But the rest of the Ogre franchise is truly abandoned.
Great video and insight, David. It's a potentially golden opportunity and we shouldn't squander it. I know it's been in the news recently but personally I'd just love a port of Skies of Arcadia at this point, and Valkyrie Profile too.

My first time playing BF IV was the PC port. It should be updated to be compatible with newer computers.
I'll never understand companies failing to make their entire back catalogs easily available for people to buy. It's just free money. If they don't have near term plans to release things like the Castlevania and Mega Man collections, they should just have the ROMs available for purchase.

BOF in my top 5 games of all time. Countless weekends spent mixing the dragon genes and writing down the best ones. The only other game that did anything like that was FFVII with the materia system where i spent countless weekends figuring out materia combos.
Fantasy Life: The girl that steals time is going to be on PS4 and PS5. And a new numbered Neptunia game is going to be revealed this year

dino crisis 1 and 2 actually did have a pc port a long time ago, but it's a hassle to install on modern system using the old port of the game

Breath of Fire is a yoga breathing exercise called Pranayama. A dragon serpent lives in the base of the spine, through the rapid Breath of Fire pranayama breathing awakens the dragon serpent. Namaste Capcom
Hell yeah! I know they have trophy support for the ports of the Dark Cloud series, but I'd like to see maybe an HD upscale and a few quality of life features on those games. :)

Straight up, if you made a video listing off RPG series and standalones from like, Playstation 1 to earlier, I would vote for each one. It's been ages since I've delved into those games and even in this video I went "OH RIGHT THAT EXISTED" multiple times and voted some more. I trust you to be able to do that. Those were the days of some really wild releases, I feel like.
I will wait for the triumphant return of Breath of Fire series.
I love GOG. I'm essentially a physical only person, but GOG is my go to for PC.
I saw it 3 days ago and since i am in vacation now i spend hours with the list feeling like a kid in a sweets store :D

All the Breath of Fires voted for. My dream of dreams is if I could have modern access to the Shadow Hearts series so I voted for them also.
Already voted for BoF 1-4, Xenogears (man, I'd buy an HD 2D version of that in a second), Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve 1-2 and Legend of Legaia, so here's hoping.
Even if this doesn't lead to a lot of these games getting ports I do think it'll be good for showing publishers that there is still interest in these classic games, probably leading to remasters later on.
For me personally I voted for CyberConnect2's original games as a lot of people have forgotten about them because CC2 are mostly known for their anime games nowadays, hopefully Fuga and their other future self published games change that. Anyway these are the first 4 .hack games as well as the Japanese exclusive .hack games, Tail Concerto, Silent Bomber, Solatorobo and Asura's Wrath.
I also voted for the Xenosaga trilogy as that's another series of games Bandai still hasn't remastered yet and I'm surprised by that because the Xenoblade series is so popular right now. Then again Square Enix hasn't done anything with Xenogears yet either. I'll go vote for the Breath of Fire series as well.

I've long been an advocate for GOG and try to signal boost them as much as I can. I did know about the reworked wishlist but I didn't know it extended to console games too! I'll be going through and casting some more votes.
I got my retro handheld and just started playing BoF3 a day ago, really love it so far. Like Teepo so much lol. Play a lot of new JRPGs and VN nowadays that I think I ran out of what to play, didnt get into BoF with high expectation because Im used too new gameplay but ngl, still find the old games like these still playable in the current day
I played Breath of Fire 4 on the PC back in the days. I actually started learning because I wanna do something like Breath of Fire 4 (same art style and vibes). I'm still working on the learning first. Gaming dev is actually not hard (in the sense that you can understand what you need to do, even the programming it's nothing out of this world)... The real challenge is doing it, because it's just a loooooooooooot work. So I'm thinking about doing a short 5h to 8h RPG. A full 40h game... Impossible for me.
I think... that the existence and purpose of GoG maybe had a small effect in why so many games get remakes, modernized etc by games publishers.. maybe a tiny bit.

@@davidvincright, the ps1 and ps2 classics we shelled out money for during the ps3 era are gone in the wind. Wii virtual console? Gone. Microsoft and gog are the only companies that respects our purchases.

Remakes are almost impossible in my opinion. The modern Capcom only works with safe projects, and they but a ton of budget and effort in this small group of projects. Remasters are unlikely overall too, but more likely than remakes.
Maybe a collection will be easier to test the waters?

I can see this being good for titles or IP that they have no intention of using in the near future, as they are likely to see 'free' money in it. But would likely decline to let them use titles or IP that they have current plans for as they always see it as potentially canabilizing sales for the new title. Either way it's totally worth a try to get some untouched IP back on the market!

I want a brand new Breath of Fire game that could combine smartly all the good plot events of the 5 previous games. Yeah i even include BoF5 because i'm certain their idea to try to avoid to use the dragon form could be reused smartly (ex: in a hard mode challenge, or in certain parts of that new game). Of course the best influence should remain BoF2-3-4, but especially the 3rd game because i liked the gen system, the overworld map, the atmosphere etc... It would be my dream BoF game.
I know it's not related but i really want to see Breath of Fire 4 getting a remake. the game, story, soundtrack are really memorable to me. HD 2D style, remastered ost, no censorship, and the dialogue (and in extent, the story) follow utsurowazarumono manga. That's all i hoped for

I worked at gamestop when the 360 was fairly new and there were some pretty awesome rpg gems on there, u did mention lost odyssey and blue dragon, but very few people i hear mention infinite undiscovery, it has mixed reviews but it has some elements of the valkyrie profile universe in it i think its a hidden gem i absolutely loved that game:)
