@@narukamiyuu9698 have you seen the streams before they did the tournament. suisei did the 2 hole combo vs marines puyo which tourned out to be easy againts long combo puyo since it would constantly bombard her with blocks. suisei too did puyo vs againts marine with 2 color combo which again blocked alot of her long big combos. both of which were banned. guess we know who gets traumatized if there where no banned moves : ^)
To show cracked Marine is at Puyo, the first few seconds of games after the first round were immediately turned into Suisei trying to survive for how long. That's how quick and powerful Marine's Puyo skills are. Not to mention, this also caused Suisei to make mistakes often like missing her perfect clear chance and misplacing blocks.
Misplacing was due to controller problems rather than the pressure. Doesn't change the fact that Marine is strong, but it would've been way closer if not for the controller (sound like a cheap excuse, but those who know how Suisei usually plays, should notice that she was underperforming)

No disrespect to either girl, but at this level of play Puyo has a large advantage. Suisei is good in hololive but not to many Tetris players, so she naturally is at a disadvantage. It's only when you get to the elite that Tetris players (Kazu, Flare, (not Shiranui) and Amemiya) start edging out Puyo players. As long as the Puyo player has decent speed and foresight, they will beat a majority of Tetris players that are considered their equal according to PPT's ranking system.

The thing is in this match I believe Suisei is the one traumatize by Marine in the end as except for the first match, Marine just toying with Suisei and don't even try at all despite what she saying. I can felt that Marine felt a little bit guilty beating Suisei that easily. By the way I never seen Suisei beat Marine in Tetris VS Puyo, she get one win truly impressive.
If you think Senchou just toying then you don't watch her relatively long. even when she talk jokingly, she's always serious on against someone on tourney and thinking about fighting Suisei, she just can't take it easy
suisei fought pretty much on a handicap low battery switch controller(see the peko pov stream and her tweet) but still manage to do some strong counters and recoveries against puyopuyo monster marine. It was a really great tournament over all.
well that's still unbalance btw... even with low battrey it's not effect much if still on, in marine condition she's a contestant and sui is a host that only commenting the game, meanwhile marine has to fight all contestant until final and got the trophy and still have to accept viewers request to beat suisei!? of course marine has a pride to beat her as a champ.. even before the match pekora, sui and staff discussing it first, they still have a time but is that okay for marine too, they know she must be tired after all of that match.. well she still win with that condition anyway 🤷
@@narukamiyuu9698 you could go the opposite way. marine already have warm up matches and sui-chan sit there as commentator didn't expect herself to play could also make a mental different. it's not like marine have to spent too much energy on her matches to get the champion. we saw how good she is this tourney until sui-chan is like bully babies to her. and low controller battery is pretty annoying. it is like every 3 button pressed, it decide to ignore one of them so sui-chan can't play fast, she have to confirm with her eyes the input is taken before next action and that's very big no-no for speed tetris. she might get away bully other babies even with her 50% efficiency but if she fight people who can actually play like marine, she can't have that kind of handicap.

Sui-chan mentioned that at medium skill level puyo has an advantage for sure. HOWEVER at an advanced skill level she believes tetris to have the advantage. More importantly this motivated her to practice more and get even better. Scary!

kinda confused why sui-chan didn't use 4-wide that much here and still relying on dt and tetris setup. she used it when collabing with marine last time and winning more with 4-wide
i haven't been able to find any subs for it and im not fluent in jp, but apparently they banned certain things, including the 4-wide. not sure if it's 100% accurate as i can't vouch for it, but ive seen multiple people mention it

Iirc, Tetris almost always wins at the highest skill levels because they can put out large amounts of trash at extremely high speed, interrupting a puyo player's ability to prepare combos.
Actually, at high skill levels tetris has the advantage. It's just that puyo is easier to get good at early but peaks out before the skill celling of tetris.
