Just a wee thought about the sliding bed. My father in law was an old cabinet maker and if there was a bare wood to wood surface that rubbed together, he would take a candle and scribble over both surfaces. Reduced friction greatly. Might help with the “butter smooth” finish you’re looking for…and won’t bust the budget! Great job on your van.
Building a slideout bed for mine soon. Great to hear you troubleshooting issues with your previous builds. Saved me a few headaches, thanks! Hope everything goes well with the baby 👍
We have a similar design but the bottom cupboard has a sliding door so there is still access when the bed is out. We have supported the bed as we hire it out and you never know how heavy the people are !! Nice video i would suggest a mirror when u are decorating , it add to the feeling of space plus who doesnt need a mirror !! Great Video our build came in just under 4K but we resprayed the van as well x
That pull out bed build looks great, I think cutting the ply out rather than slats looks alot more sleek and tidy. You've done a brilliant job so far, loving the vids ❤xx
Your flying through this 🙌 I've only just managed to fit my radiator, water pump and Intercooler. I still need to kit out the back and fit solar panels and inverter.
This series is looking like its going to cost me .... Going to look at a van tomorrow 😅. Thanks for the videos, they are very descriptive and well presented. Looking forward to part 5.
I’ve just put a deposit on a van finally, can’t wait to pick it up, been a fan of your channel for quite a while. Just decided last few weeks that I need to start living a bit more.
@@LoveSundays that’s the plan, once it’s insulated and carpeted il Chuck a mattress in the back until my funds have replenished , then do somthing like this. As this works well for taking the bikes with us.
@@LoveSundays I was really after a transporter, but in the end I went with a transit custom with 4 years warranty thrown in as was concerned about the wet belt.
Excellent progress - that bed looks really good - with some great ideas that you make so easy to understand! The kitchen unit was neat too. If you don't need a catch to hold the doors closed when driving, I've used the kind of 'catch' that you push the door in and it springs the door out so you can open it (then the next push closes the door). I'm not sure how well they will work in a van (I have them in my kitchen at home, which thankfully doesn't move!
I built a full height kitchen in mine. It has a drop down table on the top half. It was a real faff to build though. I made it with a frame and then clad the outside faces. There's not a straight line anywhere but it holds loads of stuff. Yours looks much neater.
Great content for handles I just drill off circular hole across the four corners that meet on the doors make a little area. You can just pull each door open accordingly would look rather nifty and you wouldn’t be getting caught on things as you walk past it and at no cost
Good build so far. Probably consider putting in a stopper for the bed so you don't accidentally pull it out too far and maybe round the corners on the top of the cupboard so you don't catch your hip on it.
My dad is a carpenter and has his own Pine wood furniture company. He threw away lots of scrap wood that anyone could take wood from in a skip behind the business. You should look into this near you. I’m sure it’s the norm tbh. 😊
I wouldn’t put any handles on your doors I would use push to release catch then you have nothing stuck out to catch on 😊. Great job so far loving the build.
lovin your channel just one thing ye should use some glue on the wood as it will be much stronger espically when traveling , keep up the good work shaun !!
I subscribed a while back when I was helping my nephew convert a van. Sadly he ran out of money to keep her on the road, but I’m still subscribed as I love your videos 😊. Bed looks cool… if you ever do another, I wonder if rather than drilling through the ply, so your jigsaw can make straight cuts, could you literally shape them like round fingers, so it could be one continuos cut, for an even smoother aesthetic 😊
Maybe you could have built or bought tambour doors for the cupboard to get full access to the cupboard even when the bed is fully out. Anyway, you're doing an extremely good job with the fit and finish of a "Budget" camper. Also, congratulations to you and yours for the news of your little girl.
Love how you're making everything in a way that anyone can copy with basic skills and tools. And if they can't you pointed out some great options online that aren't horrendously expensive to buy. Is there a reason you chose not to do sliding doors on the cabinet? Then you wouldn't have the problem of opening the cabinet when the bed is out. I would've liked to see how you do that. Maybe in your next build. 😝
For the doors ...drill finger holes, easy to open and cheap....would it have been possible to make sliding doors ? That way you could access the cupboard easily Great build, i'm really enjoying it
You could look at getting your wood from IKEA, not sure if you've got a local one , but they're always putting panels out which could be upcycled to suit your needs and save you some cash . I know it's not ideal really because it can be weight restrictions but you could get some bits you'd save a bit of Dosh...cheers
Goodday, This is so wel done, thank you for sharing! For the kitchen door handels, leather straps? Or "clicker", you push on it and it opens? Looking forward till the cushions, curious also if you doing the sewing parts yourself? Curtains, cushions, other things. Thank you for sharing, have a good week!
Loved the bed you done a great job … you did make us giggle with blurring out your feet 😂😂😂😂 wish you would wear better footwear when you’re working.. worries me your drop something on your feet 😂 anyway keep up the great videos we .. love Sundays x
It only gets glued once I’m happy it all works. Once the cushions are fitted and I know no other alterations need to be made I then glue it all together.
Another great vlog! When sliding wood together like the bed. After sanding, use beeswax which stops it from grabbing. Did you consider building sliding doors for your cabinet, so they can be opened when the bed is extended?
When scribing just use cardboard, then can cut easily with scissors rather than jig-sawing another piece of off-cut wood. If you 'over-cut' an area, then just tape/stick/staple some more cardboard back on and have another go.
Congratulations to you all, love your channel and look forward to Sunday video as I’ve just purchased my first van and in the process of my build,(also a Vauxhall vivaro ) was wondering if your van is a Swb? So I can use your measurements, keep up the good work some great tips and advice.
Hi, regarding the handles for the cupboard doors?- how about soft leather handles? Very popular and trendy atm. Ideal without the added problem of handles sticking out and catching things on them. X
I might have missed it, but is the top ply the same material as the upright? It looks like a nicer finish. Amazing work on what was supposed to be budget!
Yes that’s what my dad said also. I just don’t have a router and I figured most other people wouldn’t either. It’s fine doing a budget build but if you’re using tools most people won’t have it because less doable for most
I work in a builders merchants on the yard people ask me for prices but I can never tell them becuase the prices aren’t the prices we like to look after much cheaper don’t be afraid to haggle😂
Just a wee thought about the sliding bed.

You made me laugh so hard when you blurred out your feet while laying on bed frame. 🤣💕
Maybe his feet are for only fans 🤣
Brilliant video Shaun. Loving this build 😊
I ❤ your videos and as soon as I buy a van I’m definitely will build it this way. I’m saving all your videos 🎉. Thank you so much
For a budget build, it's really turning out to be a nice-looking van.
i ve personally really enjoyed the budget build series, they are going to help me when i convert my van 😊
Building a slideout bed for mine soon. Great to hear you troubleshooting issues with your previous builds. Saved me a few headaches, thanks! Hope everything goes well with the baby 👍
Title might say it's a budget build, but I tell you what, it doesn't look it! Great work Shaun! 😎
😂😂😂 never seen this channel before, I lost it when the foot blur happened! Good job on the bed/couch!
I save the uncensored version for my OnlyVans members 😂
Is your nickname Verruca Joe?
😊
@@gedofgont1006 😂
Looking great Shaun, congratulations to you both with the news of another baby on the way. 🎉
Congrats on the news of Ur baby girl I just watched Ur other vid been loving this build it's been so helpful for ideas on my 1st build so thank you
You make everything look so simple and also explaining each step of the way.
Your Dad does some excellent work. You should hire him out !
It’s amazing what you can do in such a small space isn’t it. Great work.
This vid couldn't have come at a better time mate looking at restarting the conversation i have inherited when buying my van. Cheers for this Shaun 🔥
Great build so far, looking forward to Part 5.
Make finger hole opening for doors. Simple and free x
We have a similar design but the bottom cupboard has a sliding door so there is still access when the bed is out. Love watching the new van conversion. Looking forward to next week.
Doing really well 😊 loving watching this build. Can't wait for part 5 😊
That pull out bed build looks great, I think cutting the ply out rather than slats looks alot more sleek and tidy. You've done a brilliant job so far, loving the vids ❤xx
Found your channel yesterday. Looks like i found it at a good time, i was sad that I'd have to wait for episode 4 😂
Your flying through this 🙌 I've only just managed to fit my radiator, water pump and Intercooler. I still need to kit out the back and fit solar panels and inverter.
Great little series Shaun . Very inspiring.
Morning Shaun. Hope all ok. Thanks for another great vid. Congratulations to you all for the news of your new baby.
Thanks
This is awesome. In the process of re converting our T4 and this was super useful. Especially the bed idea.
Good and nice work👍🏻 I would chosen sliding doors with holes for handle. But everyone is different 😃
Doing a grand job with the camper
Looks very tidy Shaun. Coming together very nicely. Good work!👍
That's brilliant, love that pull out bed, definitely going to do that with my van 👌
This series is looking like its going to cost me .... Going to look at a van tomorrow 😅. Thanks for the videos, they are very descriptive and well presented. Looking forward to part 5.
Massive help! I'm planning on redoing the Caddy interior soon (possibly tomorrow!) so this is nicely timed! Good work :)
Will be sharing this with my hubby. We have a motorhome, but want a small night out or two getting away van too.
Coat the bed slats by rubbing Paste Wax on all surfaces after sanding and you will be amazed at how well they slide in and out!
Great video mate. Again, learnt a lot from you as non of that is my trade but picked up some good hints and tips. Brilliant
Very nice mate .well done ✔️
Wow coming along great 🎉🎉🎉
Amazing to watch it coming together looking good you could try the push to open on your unit doors as it looks good without handles love watching
I’ve just put a deposit on a van finally, can’t wait to pick it up, been a fan of your channel for quite a while. Just decided last few weeks that I need to start living a bit more.

Looking good young man.
You really doing a great job of this van conversion.
Proper job 😂😂
Well done shaun. That van is amazing mate looking really good, and we got a little Camino for Batman ( your dad ) 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Loving these videos 👍🏻 going to rewatch and make notes and a budget plan. Keep them coming 😊

awsome video Shawn loving the build
It has been amazing watching you build this, some skill that mate 👍
Congratulations on the baby news!
Cool, looking good!
I would do that bed design and install a couple of drawers underneath using simple runners. Your method looks easier than cutting up a load of slats.
I wouldn’t put any handles on your doors I would use push to release catch then you have nothing stuck out to catch on 😊. Great job so far loving the build.
for an budget build looks great. i wanna buy one van in couple months1 love it. for camping and fishing(A)
amazing, cant wait for pt 5
Handles for the doors. May I suggest Cotton strap like material? Save your legs getting bashed on something solid. Ruth Aisling put leather straps.
lovin your channel just one thing ye should use some glue on the wood as it will be much stronger espically when traveling , keep up the good work shaun !!

Roll up door on kitchen unit would be a idea

Have you tried pocket hole jigs? Trust me, when framing or want hidden screws they are a must.
Yes I’ve got one. But the purpose of this series was so other people could follow along and not everyone owns a pocket hole jig
Great job
Great work 👌
This is the video I needed 👌🏻👍🏻 🛏️ thanks for this
It looks stunning! 👍👍👍 what’s the song at 10 minutes 40seconds, it’s going to look ace when it’s done,,,👍
Looking good 👍
I think sliding doors would be better especially when beds out
Goodday,
This is so wel done, thank you for sharing!

"Where's your wood glue?
Arrrrh🤣🤣🤣

I wouldn’t paint the wood, just varnish it, looks nice and fresh👌🏼
Thanks really informative 👍🏾
Great vids...keep em coming!
Looks really nice, I wonder if the plywood look good in Matt black raptor paint, with lots of lighting so not too dark
What about a roller door for the cupboard then you can still use it with the bed out
Hello Mate! Had you thought about installing 2 x sliding doors on the kitchen unit? You can open them easier
Have you thought about sliding doors rather than doors that open out? Then you will still have access when the bed is out
Congratulations to you all, love your channel and look forward to Sunday video as I’ve just purchased my first van and in the process of my build,(also a Vauxhall vivaro ) was wondering if your van is a Swb? So I can use your measurements, keep up the good work some great tips and advice.
It's not a swb. It's a mwb which is about 8" longer. The body plastics are the giveaway 👍🏻
(But I'd have done sliding doors on the cabinet)

Nice job, how about making the cupboard doors bi fold so they can be used when the bed is open? just a thought
Love it !
Your dad must be good he uses Makita tools 😂😂
Probably better quality than B&Q too
Probably better using a router than a jig saw to provide clearance if it wasn’t a budget build
Yes that’s what my dad said also. I just don’t have a router and I figured most other people wouldn’t either. It’s fine doing a budget build but if you’re using tools most people won’t have it because less doable for most
So cool
That's the nuts for 2 grand magnetic push locks for the doors no handles
Looking great Shaun, it seems to have deffo inherited some of your dads woodworking skills. Got to ask why did you blank your feet out?
What's the depth of the bed? Amazing build btw :)
4ft x 6ft
Great video ty, one question , why did you blur your feet out ? asking for a friend lol
I work in a builders merchants on the yard people ask me for prices but I can never tell them becuase the prices aren’t the prices we like to look after much cheaper don’t be afraid to haggle😂
A quick question of I may...
What is the thickness of the play you are using for the base, the lats? 12.5?
Ideal!…👍
