Quick fact about Anne Frank: she rewrote some passages after hearing that there would be a collection for wartime diaries, and she did always want to be famous. Unfortunately, it was after she died that she became famous.
Your videos remind me of an essay! You have the introduction, the body with points and explanations, and finally the conclusion. I think it's so interesting, I love booktubers like you!! Hugs hugs hugs xx
I have so many books that would be on my list! Black Beauty, James and the Giant Peach, The Diary of a Young Girl, The Outsiders, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, The Book Thief, Unwind... the list goes on and on.
Wolf Night I'm twenty and I just started reading Harry Potter last December. Currently stuck on the 5th book. Don't make the mistakes I've made, I wished I'd read it sooner it's amazing
in my local bookstore there was a table with political books and next to a book about Donald Trump there was 1984 (the only fictional book on the table). And I really liked that humour! 😂
I remember when I was in fourth grade our teacher actully read Harry Potter to us and I loved it so much so my mum started reading it me and my siblings bc by then I was the only one old enough to actually read an actual novel on my own (my youngest brother was only 3 at the time and my sister 6). That was such an amazing time!
The Anne Frank House is AMAZING! I've been twice and both times it was such a surreal experience. Being in the same place as her and her family is an experience that will touch you forever. Enjoy!
I love how a lot of the books are classics! It really shows how open you are because i feel like a lot of young people tend to stray away from old literature and its great that you can appreciate it so much!
I just found your channel, and now I am so motivated to go out and read again. I've been in a rut for awhile and haven't found time to read - but watching your channel has reminded me of how much I love to read. Thank you so much!!
Nancy Drew is a big one! I learned how to read at about 3, but it wasn't until I was 4 that I read REAL books -- starting with Nancy Drew. It made me really love reading, and it was reading that, Boxcar Children, and Happy Hollisters that shaped me into the booklover that I am today. I also loved Magic Treehouse, Mysterious Benedict Society, American Girl, and Dear America when I was little. I would read and reread all of them, borrowing over 20 books from the library at a time. I had a lot more time then...
Great video Hailey, you are always so refreshing to watch. I love that you mentioned The Magic Treehouse, because it's the best series that I read with my kids and I enjoyed every single one of them. xo
I don't know why but it made me really happy when you said philosopher's stone rather than Sorcerers stone...That just made me happy I have no idea why
Mine is Secret Garden! It is such a classic yet it gives you such a different outlook on happiness and it gives me such warmness in my heart. It definitely impacted how I live my day to day life; I definitely recommend this!
If you haven't seen the movie of The Book Thief, I definitely recommend it, it's so incredible, and not to mention Geoffrey Rush is in it! Also Amsterdam is a beautiful city!! The Anne Frank House is such an impactful trip. If you get the chance, the art museums there are incredible too, the Rijksmusem being my favorite with Rembrandts paintings.
omg!! I have a similar history with Anne of the green gables, when I was young I watched the movie so many times with my grandmother and when I grow up I read the books and I just love more this tail
I think To Kill A Mockingbird is a must read. I didn't appreciate it at the time when I'd to read it for school. But as I've gotten older, I realise how important of a book it is for people to read :) I only saw the Little Princess for the first time as a young teenager and I bought the book soon after. The book is still on my tbr... And the Harry Potter books shaped my childhood!
I love those videos where people talk about their "important" books. It's crazy how some books influence us as a person. Being also a Canadian (french speaking one... but still a canadian!), I grew up with Anne and Gilbert (books and movies) and Shakespeare has been a huge part of my life. I didn't even know that it was a classic and an "old" thing when I was a kid. 1984 spoke to me a lot when I was a teenager ( a long time ago!) and "Le petit prince" by St-Exupery (Ant-one de Saint eggs-U-perry, the U being that vowell that does not exist in english... you're doing it quite good!) is also an all time favorite. Love that story!
The Catcher in the Rye was also one of the first books that got me into reading. Now that I'm a bit older, The Infernal Devices really got me into YA. They are those kind of stories that kinda just "sticks" with you until you get old 🤗
I agree with Shakespeare, The Fault In Our Stars, The Book Thief and the Harry Potter Books. I'd also say PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern as it was the first adult fiction book I read. In terms of my childhood I'd say most of Jacqueline Wilson's books, especially Lola Rose and Vicky Angel. Great video 👍🏻
I was OBSESSED reading the Magic Tree House books. They were my go to books to read as a kid. Anne of Green Gables changed my life because it was something my sisters and I shared. We would always watch the movies together. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton was a book that changed my life. I was in the 8th grade and read it for English. I fell in love with the characters and one of the few books that I read when I am in a reading slump. I also watched A Little Princess and Secret Garden as a kid and loved the books as well.
Some of the books that most definitely changed my life are: Harry Potter The Giving Tree What She Left Behind The Boston Girl Me Before You Twilight Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Subscribed when you mentioned Magic Tree House series. Dolphins at Daybreak is where my love of reading began. I clicked the bell to be apart of the notification squad too. =)
New subscriber and I love how much being an English major has influenced your love of reading! I'm also a Canadian who majored in English, and after finishing my undergrad two years ago it's crazy how much those years influenced my love of literature!
This is such a great video! I love hearing about how different books have influenced different people throughout their lives. Coming from an English major, I agree with so many of these books having an impact on my life as well!
Omg, I loved the magic treehouse series too and any of the Enid Blyton ones, I reread them lots! When I was younger I was drawn to fantasy, mystery and adventure books but now I would like to try out some other categories as well (Sci-Fi and classics).
I read The Catcher in the Rye for my AP English class junior year and LOVED IT! As I kid I read the Dolphins at Dusk book and the Magic Tree House was life and I remember reading this book about cats (I can't remember the name but I can clearly picture the cover which was burgundy and the cat was a reddish blonde color). I also remember reading a book about a dog who gets separated from his mom and sibling and goes through all these owners and finding his way back home. I'm about to turn 19 and I still remember these books from elementary school
The Percy Jackson series is what got me into reading. I was thinking about it trying to figure out what got me into reading and now I want to reread the series so much
I Have Lived A Thousand Years by Livia Bitton-Johnson absolutely changed the way I felt about reading. I was probably around middle school age when I first read it and it blew me away. It's an autobiography but similar to The Book Thief, which is another of my favorite books!
I love that you did this video. I have read some books that changed my life and this makes me want to share mines. I think you start a booktube tag for this.
The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom and John Sherrill(sp?) was a really good book. The book demonstrated both the cruelty people can deliver onto others; but also demonstrated to what lengths some people will do to help those who are being mistreated. The book broke my heart into a million pieces and then sewed it back together again. I used to read The Little Princess when I was little. I need to read it again. The Little Prince was also a favorite of mine. I had to read Catcher in the Rye for school, and I hated it, though I'm going to give it a re-read. I loved A Fault in Our Stars. I really loved the friendship between the two main characters and even the eccentric author they meet later in the book. I enjoyed the video, especially being able to learn about more books.
The Harry Potter books changed my life. I read them mostly as they came out, except the first two which were already out when I started reading and the last book came out the summer I graduated and my friends and I all got together to sit and read it. l also love to kill a mockingbird, have since high school. I actually just finished rereading it this week, but I listened to the audiobook narrated by sissy spacek which was amazing.
I really like this video, so many books I can put on my TBR-pile. I definitely want to read MAUS, I have read In The Shadow Of Two Towers by Art Spiegelman and I really like his style.
We have Harry Potter in common! :) It's a book series that changed everything, it trully shaped me as I am today. There's also Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (I never felt soo connected to a book character before), Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone (it was there for me when I was at my worst with anxiety) and finally, Sense and Sensibility by jane Austen (the classic that showed me how reading classics could be an amazing experience, I never felt soo many emotions with characters in a classic before)
The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes is one of my favorite book. I love this book because the story made me realize that love is the most powerful thing in life. It also changed my life too. Has someone ever read that book? Comment down below if you have read that book.
I think I might re-read 1984. I had to read it for school earlier on in my high school years when I really hated reading. Now I love it so I may give it another chance.
to kill a mockingbird, the book thief and the little prince changed my life and Anne Frank too of course! Now I'm about to finish 1984 and I'm loving it! Is an amazing book about politics and literature and the writing is so perfect and exquisite. I have Catcher in the Rye in my TBR for this month.
YES CATCHER!!! MY FAVORITE BOOK EVER!! Thank you for including it and reading it; most people I know hate it. It's nice to know that their is someone else in the world who has a place in their heart for this novel.
I think you should read I am the Cheese if you haven't already. Maybe it isn't a book that could change your life, but it is a beautiful story that will leave you heartbroken.
I used to love that Anne of Green Gables series! ( I think they were movies but there were several of them - the VHS box was HUGE) We lived in Canada at the time so it was extra magical!
What a great list Hailey! I share a lot of titles with you! I really hope you are considering to make Meet and Greets during your Eurotrip❤️❤️❤️would love to meet you in Amsterdam!
The Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce was my life changing book series (I have probably reread that series at least 7 times). It really taught having strength and following your dreams & desires even if it's not the norm. Anne of Green Gables was great too and it was the first chapter book I read before bed with my mom rather than having her read to me. Jennifer Robson's novels got me into historical fiction that wasn't about royalty so that changed my reading life. And Harry Potter for teaching me the love of fantasy. And showing the strength of friendship.
If I were to make a list like this for myself, I would definitely have to mention Where the Sidewalk Ends & The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and the choose your own adventures books, among others
The book/books that changed my life are the Harry Potter books. In second grade my teacher was obsessed with the series, so she read as many as she could to us, which ended up being the first four. She kick-started my love of reading, and I really can't imagine my life without loving reading, so I can't thank her enough.
I tried to read Catcher in the Rye a few weeks ago and I had to DNF it because I couldn't connect to it, and I found Holden really annoying. I think had I read it back when I was 16 and at school, I would have liked it a lot.
This is so far the only book I couldn't get through, I finished it though but it literally took me months, I fell asleep like every ten pages... . I love the concept of the book but it wasn't my cup of tea ^^ but I do get why people love it ^^
The red queen and miss peregrines home for peculiar children only because up until last year I despised reading but both of those books taught me how to enjoy reading again. Both sucked me in with their little worlds and in the past year I've read more books voluntarily than I had at any other time of my life combined. The rest of us just live here is pretty good and I enjoyed Eleanor and park quite a bit as well
OMG we have so many that overlap! Maus, I read that in Uni (I went to Brock in St. Catharines). To Kill a Mockingbird, Book Thief, Anne of Green Gables, Fahrenheit 451. Others I would include: Book of Nergeos, Outlander, The Summoning (the whole series), The Sookie Stackhouse series....
"A Little Princess" is a book that changed my life, too. And of course, "To Kill a Mockingbird". I'm actually rereading "Anne of Green Gables" nowadays, I love it.
For me, the Magic Treehouse books were what started my love of reading, I think. The next cornerstone of my literary life was the Percy Jackson books. These were my loves in elementary school and middle school. Then in middle school The Hunger Games opened the door to dystopian fiction. In high school I read Enduring Love which was the first adult fiction book I read, and since then it's been harder to read YA books. Those were my staples growing up, and I think these mark different ages in my life very accurately. I feel like when I picked up PJO, I grew, then again with each of the other series/books on my list.
The book thief definitely changed my life, and made me appriciate historical fiction! 1984 is also up there, as well as harry Potter due to the fact that it introduced me to friends for life. I really need to read To kill a mockingbird, and Anne Frank as well!
I really need to reread the bookthief. I read it years ago and I unfortunately only remember a bit. So, since I have two copies, the anniversary edition
I think a book that really changed my life was Please Stop Laughing At Me by Jodee Blanco because I remember when I first tried to read it I barely got into it before I had to stop because I couldnt read it anymore it was stomach lurching. I felt like puking knowing how bad those kids treated this girl. I remember returning it and not checking it back out for a while. Still after I could read it I couldnt read it a lot. I meam I had to read it in pieces because it hurt so much and I just felt so much for the main character. I cried for that girl who was being mentally and physically abused. It is such a touching story and will really change your point of view on bullying. I really recommend you read it.
Two books that have changed my life are Dragonsong by Anne McCaffery and The Giver by Lois Lowry. Anne McCaffery introduced my to the wonderful world of science fiction and fantasy and it really opened up books to me. The Giver is a book that I come back to time and time again because every time I read it I get something new from it, and the rest of the series is amazing!
I read to kill a mockingbird in fifth or sixth grade and loved it. Read it once or twice after that as well. Might be my favorite book. I tried reading the book go set the watchman or whatever but couldn't get into it. It's still on my shelf and I keep telling myself I'll read it at some point.
I loved the magic treehouse books! I can't remember the one book I would read all the time, but I would check it out if he library all the time and all the other ones. Those books were just amazing and kids still read them now too which is amazing!
“I wasn’t a huge reader when I was younger.”
Me: **looks at the bookshelf**
Well that changed.
Quick fact about Anne Frank: she rewrote some passages after hearing that there would be a collection for wartime diaries, and she did always want to be famous. Unfortunately, it was after she died that she became famous.
Oh my god I completely forgot about the Magic Tree House series! They were my favourite in elementary school, along with the Bailey School Kids books.
Oh my gosh, I adored the Bailey School Kids when I was little!
Even from a young age I was all about that fantasy/mythical creature life
The Book Thief is my favourite book ever!
One book that definitely changed my life is The Outsiders by SE Hinton. Such an amazing book
cousinbeauty21 yessss
when we read it as a class a few years back, everyone dismissed it and hated it. really made me feel bad since I loved and love it so much.
cousinbeauty21 I would agree with you.
That is my absolute favorite classic book of all time!!!❤️❤️
Definitely agreed!
To Kill A Mockingbird is such an amazing book! Absolutely one of my favourites!
1984 is on my TBR for this month, can't wait to get to it!
Your videos remind me of an essay! You have the introduction, the body with points and explanations, and finally the conclusion. I think it's so interesting, I love booktubers like you!! Hugs hugs hugs xx
Oh my goodness The Magic Tree House series was the BOMB omg I read ALL of those when I was little.
Samantha Grace I loved them too
I have so many books that would be on my list! Black Beauty, James and the Giant Peach, The Diary of a Young Girl, The Outsiders, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, The Book Thief, Unwind... the list goes on and on.
Laura Wachter I love the diary of young girl it's amazing 😍😍😍👌
Laura your list is scary accurate to my favorites.
Is it bad that I haven't read Harry Potter yet and I am 15...😶
Wolf Night I'm twenty and I just started reading Harry Potter last December. Currently stuck on the 5th book. Don't make the mistakes I've made, I wished I'd read it sooner it's amazing
Melenese Armbrister Ok! Thank you! I will get right to it!
Wolf Night Do yourself a favor and read it. It is the best and when you're the same age as Harry it is even better.
So, how old is he in the books?
Yes read it it's life changing!!
the book thief is one of my all time favorites! it had a huge impact on me in high school!
Have you ever read "The help" by Kathryn Stockett? I strongly recommend it to you, it's really really a great book!
I plan on reading The Book Thief soon. I have heard nothing but great things about this
It is just great you are going to love it
your slightly newly-organized shelf is giving me life
in my local bookstore there was a table with political books and next to a book about Donald Trump there was 1984 (the only fictional book on the table). And I really liked that humour! 😂
Kristina Ma 😂👌🏼👌🏼
I remember when I was in fourth grade our teacher actully read Harry Potter to us and I loved it so much so my mum started reading it me and my siblings bc by then I was the only one old enough to actually read an actual novel on my own (my youngest brother was only 3 at the time and my sister 6). The Anne Frank House is AMAZING! I've been twice and both times it was such a surreal experience. Being in the same place as her and her family is an experience that will touch you forever. Enjoy!
I've grown out of YA books in the past few years, but you're so well spoken that I can't stop watching your videos. Subscribed.
I love how a lot of the books are classics! It really shows how open you are because i feel like a lot of young people tend to stray away from old literature and its great that you can appreciate it so much!
I love "A Little Princess," "The Book Thief," "Looking for Alaska," The Harry Potter series, "To Kill a Mockingbird," and "Anne of Green Gables"
I've been to the Anne Frank house and it is amazing. Amsterdam as a whole is lovely

To be honest😭

Hey Hailey can you do a recommendation video or anything about books with magical realism?
A Little Princess is one of my favorite stories. The movie is fantastic, too. The message is very important.
I love when books recommend people! Great video - loved hearing how certain books have changed your life!
My dad gave me the Maus novels to read when I was younger and I absolutely loved them! Truly powerful.
I agree with Shakespeare, The Fault In Our Stars, The Book Thief and the Harry Potter Books. I'd also say PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern as it was the first adult fiction book I read. Some of the books that most definitely changed my life are:
Harry Potter
The Giving Tree
What She Left Behind
The Boston Girl
Me Before You
Twilight
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
The Giving Tree was one of my favorite books growing up
Twilight!?!???!!!
@@manaswithakur7510 Same... Twilight here too...the mistakes bella made is truly a playbook for all

Omg, I loved the magic treehouse series too and any of the Enid Blyton ones, I reread them lots! When I was younger I was drawn to fantasy, mystery and adventure books but now I would like to try out some other categories as well (Sci-Fi and classics).
Wintersong by S Jae-Jones and Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepetys are two of the most achingly beautiful books I've ever read. Life changing!

*BOOKS THAT HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE*
•Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
•A Little Princess by France's Hodgson Burnett
•Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
I just finished the book Challenger Deep... I would love to see a discussion about it!
Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass really changed me. It really made me think about the value of friendship, and also got me into my love of astronomy
I think I might re-read 1984. I had to read it for school earlier on in my high school years when I really hated reading. Now I love it so I may give it another chance.
I read 1984 really recently but already it's starting to change my life and I loved it so much 😊
to kill a mockingbird, the book thief and the little prince changed my life and Anne Frank too of course!
Now I'm about to finish 1984 and I'm loving it! Is an amazing book about politics and literature and the writing is so perfect and exquisite. I have Catcher in the Rye in my TBR for this month.
this is probably silly, but because of Anne of Green Gables I really wanted red hair and freckles when I was a little kid

I Just purchased the book theif today and I can’t wait to read it. İt is in my TBR.
I don't think any books have "changed my life" but, I've really strongly related to and enjoyed several of them.
I tried to read Catcher in the Rye a few weeks ago and I had to DNF it because I couldn't connect to it, and I found Holden really annoying. I think had I read it back when I was 16 and at school, I would have liked it a lot.
i met one of my best friends through "looking for Alaska" as well❤
Have you read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time? I think you would really enjoy it :)
Elisa In Wonderland I loveeeee that book
Vickie Doyle It's amazing ☺☺
This is so far the only book I couldn't get through, I finished it though but it literally took me months, I fell asleep like every ten pages... . I love the concept of the book but it wasn't my cup of tea ^^ but I do get why people love it ^^
The red queen and miss peregrines home for peculiar children only because up until last year I despised reading but both of those books taught me how to enjoy reading again. Both sucked me in with their little worlds and in the past year I've read more books voluntarily than I had at any other time of my life combined. The rest of us just live here is pretty good and I enjoyed Eleanor and park quite a bit as well
I love your videos and your passion for books!
Thank you 💜
OMG we have so many that overlap!
I adore the Price of Salt (or Carol) by Patricia Highsmith... it's such a well written book and it's a one of a kind.
The book thief definitely changed my life, and made me appriciate historical fiction! 1984 is also up there, as well as harry Potter due to the fact that it introduced me to friends for life. I really need to read To kill a mockingbird, and Anne Frank as well!
I also read the Catcher in the rye in my English class and was GREAT! !
A little princess was the first book I ever really loved and the only book that ever made me cry
Magic tree house yessssssssss omg nobody ever mentions that those were my favourite
I love The Catcher And The Rye
I loveee The Magic Tree House series!! I buy them for all the young readers in my life!
I loved the magic treehouse books! I can't remember the one book I would read all the time, but I would check it out if he library all the time and all the other ones. Those books were just amazing and kids still read them now too which is amazing!
