    this is the only vid of how to replace a blend door actuator on a 98 without being told that I had to remove the whole dash! A big help; especially since I just shined it up :)
    I've been flushing the heater core for 2 days wondering why I had no heat..... just learned how to diag the EATC and it turns out I have a blend door actuator failure.... hopefully the replacement helps.
    AWESOME VID KEEP IT UP!!!

    Great video. Thanks for sticking straight to the point and not making a 10 minute video that should only be 3 minutes?

    I have a 2000 LTC and they must have considerably changed the design. I took my blend door actuator out yesterday in about an hour. Just removed the glove box and it was there. Not easy to reach , I lost a torx head and 1 screw but doable. I’m going to replace the bad unit (I hope) today.
    I also wonder if there are two actuators and this is the other?

      Yes. Two actuators. The one you replaced is the Main Right or Recirculation actuator.

    That controls the AC vents the actuator cuz my AC is blowing air from defrost vents in the front window

    Hey buddy. This should be the Same as the Ford Edge right? I have one that keeps blowing the heat on the feet when the vent is selected. Air comes through the vent like its supposed to. I removed all the stuff but cant get the dash out (hidden screws or bolt may be). 2008 ford edge with dual climate control. Please help

    my blend door shaft broke the actuator kept spinning since I live in florida just put a vise grip on the heater hose for cold a.c. air

    My defrost duct doesn't just slide over. Something else is holding it on.

    • @RodknockRhett
      @RodknockRhett 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still can't get it out. Some thing is literally holding it on. Something relatively strong. I tried to force it to the right with nothing but force. It won't budge. Pulling it down just bends the plastic.

    Ok. Correct me if I'm wrong. In pre 1998 models you have to remove dashboard and from 1998 you don't?

      Im looking for this way to replace my actuator in my 97. Ive found a guy who can manually open/close the door through the glove box. But he says theres one screw out of the 4 that cant be accessed for removal smh. But i have talked to a guy on fb lincoln group who successfully removed it through the glove box disconnecting the ac support. Any help would be appreciated

      @@blackfootchata86 About half done on my 96. Had to pull the dash. Here's the secret on the back screws. Get a set of ignition wrenches from autozone.
      They are made for tight spots (about $10). You cut the sound deadening and fold it aside so that you can see them. then you have some angle to slowly turn the open end of the wrench on the right screw. Once the left screw is the only one left the actuator will be able to be rotated for access. Hope that helps... this job kinda sucks...

      I've seen several others just break the screw holes off for the rear screws and install the new actuator without those screws. It works just fine.

    what you used to remove the bolts from the actuator? I tried today and I failed , I removed the duct and everything to get to it but I couldn't get a ratchet or a small wrench so I just put everything back together and gave up , thanks for the video though!

      What model year? How did you get the airbag out? Mine won't budge, even with the two 8mm bolts out.
      (At least I think I got the right two 8mm under the glove box.)

      @@elcochiii It's odd because the videos of the Crown Vic it literally just 'pops out' like Jarrett says (but I think there were bolts across the front under the trim?)
      I've pried on the trim (that's in excellent shape for its years!) but it's not even jiggling, so...something must be up.
      Good luck and thanks again.

      @@Mdudeman13 The newer Town Cars have not one but two actuators for dual-zone climate controls. The 03+ Vic/Grand Marquise I don't believe had an option for dual zone climate control. I could be wrong. So they should be the same.

    I see opinions one cannot reach the actuator bolts without removing the dash but the video author says you can. Anyone?

  • @uawsux

    He never specifies the year this looks like a newer Town Car if you have an older Town Car take the dashboard out take the car doors off take the windshield out take the steering column out drop the heater box replace the actuator and then figure out how to put it all back together again

    the video is wrong, the dash has to come out, no exceptions. takes around 1-2 hours to remove and another 1 hour to reinstall.
    the screws for the actuator are a tight squeeze and touch the firewall, so you have no choice but to remove the whole dash board.

    • @RodknockRhett
      @RodknockRhett 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just break the actuator loose. No need for those back two screws. Modify the new actuator by snipping off the two screw holes that are still on the air box inside the dash. Install with the two front-most screws. Done. No need to remove the entire the dash.

      @@RodknockRhett Vid says to remove the two 8mm bolts then "pop the airbag out".
      I got the bolts out, no problem, but ... on an '02 the airbag is not "popping". It feels like it's still bolted in there. Won't slide forward at all.
      Is there a trick?
