HUGE Popeye FANatic! I’m picking up all of these and already have the first wave. My favorite is the B&W BBTS Popeye exclusive- it reminds me of Popeye from the old B&W Fleischer cartoons - those and the original Segar comic strip are my favorite versions of the sailor man! While I’m at it - reminding you to take us on a tour of your Pop’s Popeye collection. You two together is always welcome.
If they had just done matte paint for the skin tone, these would have knocked it out of the park. I might watch for a sale, but the glossy faces aren’t really speaking to me.
Hey now, the Popeye movie is awesome! Is it kinda messy and weird, yes, but it have tons of off kilter charm and Ronin Williams is perfect. Just got Olive Oil waitin on Popeye before I crack em open
I wonder if this line will continue past wave 2. I'm not a big Popeye fan, but I like the character designs and plan to get all the characters Boss Fight produces. These figures are a nice contrast to other lines I collect.
Good review! I went for the Dasin Model Popeye instead which wasn’t much more expensive. No removable hat on the Dasin version but it does have slightly better articulation, more hands, more headsculpts, a dumbbell and the spinach spray effect you described which sold it for me.
Are you saying you're gonna have an ALF on the shelf? when I was a kid in the 90s, they used to replay Popeye on Cartoon Network all the time. Popeye was never my absolute favorite or anything like that, but I did enjoy the cartoons when I was able to catch them. I'm not exactly sure these figures would be for me, but I do like them. I noticed two cat like creatures with Wimpy when you looked at the packaging, what were those things called again? Wait a minute Popeye had hair? After all these years, I never knew that. I thought he was bald. The reading of the blurb was great btw lol
The Popeye movie with Robin Williams is very good and surprisingly true to the newspaper comics. I'd definitely recommend you give it a watch if you even like Popeye just a little. It's a shame the budget ran out for the finale, though.
The Robin Williams Popeye movie was so stupid I feel in love with it when I was a kid. Watched it as an adult not to long ago lol wow did it lose its luster. Lol still good childhood memories.
I've went (nearly) all in on these Popeye figures. The only one I've not ordered was the B&W Popeye from BBTS. I've not had wave one ship yet, as I'm hoping to ship wave one and two together, if possible. I do have the 2 pack of Popeye and Bluto, but have not opened them (I'm debating leaving them in the package... but who knows). Go and watch the Robin Williams movie. And nice Jerry Reed shirt.
The hair is actually from the old Popeye E. C. Segar Sunday comic strips. I’m not sure why Fliesher/Famous studios removed this detail and made him bald and I personally think it’s weird that they elevated that detail from Popeye in the cartoon.
dude that Sinbad the Sailor episode is great. i used to love that Robin Williams Popeye movie as a kid, watched it as an adult and could not last through the dang thing. sooooo boring. kind of like the white suit Popeye
Probably not a good idea to tell people to put gel silica on top of a baked potato, without some sort of very clear notice or warning that it's just a joke and ⚠️ DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME ⚠️. Looking at a potential lawsuit there... and some poor kid(s) could die or at the minimum become very sick. 🤮

Lol might be one of the greatest blurbs in history.
I want to see a comparison to the early 2000s popeye figure.
