I know im extremely late to the party bit just wanted to say thank you to Tom, this was really helpful play through, jist need to convince someone to play now 😂
5 years late, but at 1:16 (and many other times) you can only control a region if you visit or will visit. Here you just rested. So probably would've resulted in more turns and different points. But it's all about the fun though 😁
@@TomTeachesGames good. On the channel if you wanted to take a look. Your video was helpful. I didn't have time to watch all of it before the game started, but what i did watch was good.
I wonder why they didn't just say your whole party fights the monster but only the lowest numbered one takes any damage/fatigue (ie. chooses to take one for the team).
Thanks for the play through -- well timed with the new Kickstarter. Looks like an interesting game, although possibly not thematic enough for most of my group, for the reasons you detailed. The pets and companions are cute though, and it does indeed look lovely, so am tempted. As presented here, it looks like the game could end up really short, and end suddenly if you get a new end-condition that has already passed. That could seem a bit annoying, but I guess there are some balancing issues at play, especially with the secret agendas.
Yeah! I will say that there is one of the bigger expansions (the monuments one) that adds a lot of very fun stuff. It’s really great. My biggest complain is the combat. Going into combat knowing you’re going to win is the most bothersome for me, even if there might be a consequence. I am thinking through a house-rule variant that goes something like this (realizing I might be ruining the balance of things in the interest of thematic fun): I kind of want the amount of courage to act like the thing used for combat. In other words, let’s say the face up card would grant you (I’m making this up) 3 honor. Then you need 3 honor to defeat it. If you want to go after a face-down card, you’re going to have to build up your courage, then draw the card... if you have courage greater than it equal to the honor given, then you discard that much honor and get the victory. No need to roll the black die (?). If you have less courage than honor granted then you can either fight or run. If you run you lose half the courage, rounded down. If you fight you roll the black die once for every courage you lack....? Clearly I need to think about it more, but I love the idea of using the courage tokens thematically - kind of a push-your-luck idea.... hmmm... I might want to post this to BGG and brainstorm ideas.... Finally I’ll say: I kind of like that the game can end from the draw of an end-game condition - mostly because those conditions come out as the leader gains honor. If there way ahead, it can keep the game from dragging. I also like them giving you an extra full round to finish something you may have started.... ANYWAY, that was a long reply....
Don’t worry man. I ALWAYS get distracted when I play two handed and I forget what I was going to do next turn. Your playthroughs are always awesome. I just kickstarted this game today. Keep up the great vids.
Dang Mike, thanks a million! I really try to keep track 😂 but it’s just so tricky some times. I think I’m going to kick start as well, lots of good stuff going on there and it seems like that expansion adds some fun twists.
Rules errors: At 23:07 you misread Red/Purple's first companion - he allows conviction to be converted to/from Courage (orange lion icon) not Strength (red bull). This had a major impact on the game, coming up again at 30:15, 36:48 and 45:57 and giving him four cheap Conviction (rather than possibly using his initial Conviction for some cheap Courage). At 52:35, the cube used for Red/Purple's gained Knowledge came from his Potential sphere. At 55:22, Blue had already activated Zho at the start of the turn, so shouldn't have activated himself. 1:15:26 having activated the Inn that turn, Blue couldn't claim control of the Arcane Tower 1:20:10 I don't think Blue got the honour for claiming Groll as a companion 1:22:30 When Red/Purple got the third coin, you didn't draw a new endgame condition (which would only have been relevant if it could have fired that turn - Blue fought the 3rd monster the following turn)
Hi. i think best way to olay this game is two handed. as i understood there is not much interaction between players you jusy do your things and other players do their things and there is no much ways to harm each other right?
Yup! Mistakes happen. I’ve done my best to annotate them. I’m a believe that people can learn through mistakes and that they’re not something to shy away from. But if that style doesn’t work for you, that is totally understandable. There are lots of videos that do a great job showing the game without the same mistakes I make. But you’re right, this is a great game and it deserves attention.
@@TomTeachesGames I just watched Jon gets games who did the same game where I believe he stopped recording before each turn and put everything together later. I am not hating (subscribed you even) just have high hopes for the channel as I love watching playthroughs...
Yeah, Jon’s channel is super awesome and I love his work too. I know he is very very careful and does a great job at taking his time to get things right. For me I usually just throw on the camera and play just for the fun of it. I catch a bunch of mistakes while I edit, and viewers are usually pretty good at helping me catch others. When that happens I add them to the Klingon subtitles. But I’m super happy you subscribed, and if you’re okay realizing sometimes I make mistakes, then I hope you enjoy what you see! And if it turns out it’s not for you, that is totally understandable too. Just some background to welcome you to the channel: I love games and I love editing video. I live in a very very rural city and I don’t have any local friends or family to play with. This obviously limits my gaming time. SO, most of the time I just pick a game I want to play for fun, turn on the camera, and go for it. Many playthroughs on this channel are my first or second plays of the game, so mistakes are bound to happen. I used to be super anal about it, but then found it was killing the enjoyment for me. AND, when I watch other channels, seeing their mistakes really helps me remember those particular rules, and less likely to repeat them. But yeah, you’re usually just seeing me play games just for the fun of it, and recording so I can enjoy a good editing session (since that’s my second hobby.) But stick around a while 😀 you may end up enjoying what you see. I’m actually editing my next video as we “speak”!

How did the stream go?!?

I’m gonna have to go take a look! (I cannot what for summer.... when I can get back to regular gaming and working on the channel....)

Here is a link to my proposal for the monster-fighting variant....
