Well I love my 2016 Forester XT. It does everything I need. Originally I went to Subaru because I needed the four wheel drive capability. However it is a good towing car, is very comfortable and easy to get in and out of, quiet at speed, has excellent interior space converting easily into a flat load space with rear seats down, has an excellent roof rail system, has excellent visibility, and goes like a bat out of hell if you want. I find the CVT transmission is perfectly acceptable and unlike in some reviews is quiet and relaxed to drive. I love the ability to change between engine management modes at the touch of a button on the steering wheel and I constantly use this. I spend a lot of time searching for cars which do all it does and I have not found one yet at its price bracket. It is no surprise that it sells so well in North America. Here it is a niche car and sells in small numbers. Current models for sale in Britain are only petrol and are not turbocharged.
