The sad thing about Eugene is that, when you really think about it, he's always been someone that wants to save his own skin. Like, even when he was first introduced, he'd been lying to them about being a scientist and couldn't even hold a gun. He's redeemed himself since then, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a ruse and he really stuck with the Saviors. Great video as usual, the Daryl scenes always make me tear up too.

Eugenie stayed because he knows if he leaves the saviours will find him and he'll get killed or get the iron, so he's probably just waiting for the right time to leave he definitely wont become loyal to negan.

Its gotta be Dwight, cause that means his comic storyline will come into play. Sasha is gonna get Holly's death, its pretty obvious now, unless they change something at the last minute. The Eugene storyline is something new for the TV show at this point, so i have no clue what is gonna happen with him. Same with Rosita, it looks like her story is gonna arc with Dwights now, so that is totally unique to the TV show. The end result looks to stick with the comic, its just getting there will be very different.
I think Eugene's loyalty is still to Rick and co. He and Abraham had a serious bro hug before Abraham was killed. He probably has some clever play full of eloquent dialogue that will help the others bring down the saviors... or so I hope. Great video as usual :)
I think that was the smartest thing Eugene could have done. If he had escaped with them, it would have just ended badly. He didn't know they were there to take out Negan. He just assumed they were there to get him out. Eugene is thinking ahead.
I loved the part with Simon trying to explain to Dr. Carson about his brother's death. Gave me a much needed laugh in such a tense episode. In regards to Eugene I assume they're just trying to make us think he's a turncoat when in reality I imagine he's terrified. I think he's under the impression that they were there only to rescue him and he didn't want anyone to get hurt on his behalf, especially not Rosita. That's just my take on it.
Simon has a strong presence thats for sure and Gregory I can't help but scoff at haha. I hope you're right. I like that thought...that he doesn't want to have their deaths on his conscience.
Sasha is totally dying in the season finale. It looks like they're setting her up for a pretty iconic comic death. I've been thinking the character was on borrowed time ever since I heard that Sonequa landed a big role on Star Trek. I believe that was Dwight at the end, too. One, Daryl couldn't have traveled to the Sanctuary that quickly. And two, why hide Daryl's identity? If Daryl is there to help, why keep that a secret? That seems pointless. I think it's Dwight, and I think the finale is where you see a big turn from him. Next week seems to be mostly Rick and friends traveling to Oceanside, so all this Sanctuary stuff will be continued in the finale.
Eugene is a chameleon, I think his only loyalty is to himself. Whatever scenario plays out he is just going to lie and put himself wherever it is best for him to survive. Perhaps they capture Sasha and then Eugene is given the task to end it, that would be really interesting!!
OMG I have missed 2 episodes of TWD :( I am now on a binge and watching your reactions after each episode! ^_^ :) I think this episode was filled with some closure; the talk between Maggie and Daryl was emotional but they addressed the elephant in the room, and to know that Glenn's positivity and love is still being carried through is wonderful :) The talk between Sasha and Rosita too was nice, it finally (I think) gave them the push when reaching the saviours to go through with what they are doing, for Abraham :) (Still don't feel like this is going to end particularly well I'm afraid :S) With Eugene refusing to go, I think this was more perhaps to do with the fact Rosita was asking him (in her Rosita way), and Eugene just did not want to go with her specifically, I think if it was Rick or Daryl on the other side of the door, maybe Eugene would have reconsidered or at least explained what he is doing...cannot distinguish yet whether he is enjoying life as a saviour or whether he has got a plan on himself.... Loved your reaction video as always! Cannot wait to see your next one! ^_^ :) Cannot wait to find out what happens with this infiltration mission....
I'm torn over Eugene. I've mentioned this before that his priority has always been survival while depending on someone else to protect him. He doesn't seem to have much of a rebuttal whenever someone call him a coward. If he does have a plan against Negan, he has me fooled. What a scene with Daryl and Maggie! Daryl heard what he needed to hear. I really liked how he was so close to Judith ( Little Ass Kicker). I want him to have a similar role with Maggie's kid. As for (Sasha) Sonequa, the entire nerd world knows that she's in Toronto filming the new Star Trek Discovery. I hope the writers do her justice and let her die fighting.

Does everyone forget what Rick told Eugene in the finale of Season 6 ? Rick has acknowledged the importance of Eugene. Eugene remembers that. Viewers have to be patient! :)
I would love to hear your opinion on Eugene using a common argument to defend Negans actions which is "Well we killed many of his so it's justified" That rubbed me the wrong considering his relationship with Abe :(
I think Eugene is trying to protect himself, I do not think he would do any harm to Rick's group. As for Sasha, I think if she does not find a quick solution inside, she may actually die. But what really intrigues me and who really was there in the shadows. Haha
Thanks again for great review video! I didn't get to see it before today, that's why my comment was belated, but her it is. I'm surprised how the score fall from 9.5 on Monday down to 6.9 today. I thought it first scored high because of lot of action, and that it dropped if someone died, but thank God that didn't happen. But I'm worried for Sasha. As expected the Saviors visit Hilltop again and Rosita and Sasha went on their own mission to kill Negan, but I didn't expect it all to happen in the same episode. So why didn't Eugene join Sasha & Rosita? Maybe he met someone he's found of there, who he wants to bring with him and he has his own "point by point rescue plan" or maybe he really has become a Negan? In ep. 11 Eugene told Negan that he was a "negan" even before he got there, but was that true or just flattery? He was full of fear when he got there, and because of that easier to break than Daryl was, perhaps. If he's a Negan now he's even a bigger coward than Gregory is, but I doubt it. I hope not. Eugene's mind is a complicated mystery until he speaks and then he use to say it all without taking a breath. He's smart, but not really though, not a fighter, so maybe he dare nothing but obeying Negan? Only time will tell. I think it was a nice scene between Maggie and Daryl. Daryl's reaction in the season premiere was reckless, but he can't really be blamed for Glenn's death, cause Negan is totally unpredictable, maybe it would happen any way. We'll never know. Sorry my comment is too long, but this episode made me wonder about a lot...
I forgot to say.. Does any of it remind you of when Merle Dixon, took Michonne to the Governor. but let her go, and went alone and fought off against most of the Governor's people? Kinda the same thing here with Rosita and Sasha here.
Omg wasn't the most eventful episode, but that ending jesus. I was waiting the whole episode for Sasha and Rosita to assassinate him. In the end Sasha went in alone like badass but foolish af. I hate how they always end the episode when it gets interesting. Daryl is my favourite character, so good job for making me nervous. Also finally Daryl admitted he thought he it was his fault that Glenn died. I mean it kinda was his fault, but he didn't kill him.. Negan did. Cant wait for next weeks episode!!
What I feel is Sasha's going to get captured and Eugene's going to see it and he will give Sasha the suicide pills instead of having her put through pain and suffering and then after she's dead negan's going to bring her to Rick and that's when The All Out war is going to start but who knows
Great reaction, as always :) Thoughts on the episode: Enid is gonna be a great big sister to Maggie's baby. Let's hope it comes to that. That Daryl/Maggie scene was more powerful than the Daryl/Carol reunion. It's also imo more important for Daryl to receive forgiveness from Maggie to ever so slightly lessen the burden on his shoulders. Rosita and Sasha clearly still suffer from something like PTSD (Rosita moreso). Their honest talk will be the closest thing they will ever get to actual therapy. Some form of character development was long overdue. I think there are 3 alternatives when it comes to Eugene: 1. he's scared of taking action at this moment because he's too close to the combat that would surely ensue. and he always said that he is not useful in combat. 2. he has a long-term plan and helping Rosita and Sasha right now would screw up that plan as it relies on him having the Saviours' trust and inside access. 3. he's being selfish and actually turned sides since he calculates higher chances of survival with the Saviours than Rick's group. Also, that music at the end sounded like a version of the music at the end of 7x08 when they were doing their power walk at the Hilltop. Probably to create a contrast between the unity then and her feeling left out now. Or it might be to signal that this was the next important move in the beginning of the war against the Saviours (the first being the ending of 7x08, i.e. the decision to fight back).
Let's take a moment and pray... *please Robert Kirkman, please allow for Maggie & her baby to survive! I wish for a scene of Enid holding Glenn's child holding a green balloon* Oh my word, I choked up. Such a deep scene. I think even though Maggie has made it clear that she doesn't blame him, Daryl will still hold the weight of these actions on his shoulders - hopefully time will help him. That scene with Rosita & Sasha felt so raw to me. As you said it was like a therapy session & guards were down - it was nice to see. Although Sasha locking Rosita out at the end...THAT WAS NOT THE PLAN SASHA! Which out of those options do you lean towards most? I think i'm leaning towards 2...and by 'think' I mean hope! It would be fun to explore Eugene's traitor story though if 3 was the result. I didn't spot that, nice observation.
at this specific moment I think it was a mix of option 1 and 2 but I also hope that it's 2. If 3 was true and Eugene survives the war with the Saviours it would be kinda cool if he were to become the next big bad of the series :D
People seem pretty split on what side Eugene is on. It's a difficult one to predict. He definitely looked in his element at the compound...I cant believe he would forget about what Negan did in 7x1 though!
DakaraJayne You're definitely right about that. But I think he adapts to every situation he's in and I think he wants to be on the side he thinks is the winning side.
I think it was Jesus at the end. Here's my theory: Daryl asked Jesus where they are. Jesus said, "I'll go with you." Instead of going with Daryl, he knocked him out or incapacitated him in some way. Jesus knows that if Daryl goes back to the Sanctuary, he'll be re-incarcerated and or tortured. So... he takes the crossbow and heads to Sanctown. We might see that played out in the next episode.
Yeah, Eugene is a smart one, but I just can't imagine him just doing everything on purpose and with a masterplan in his head. Like I said, I think he feels kinda comfortable and needed, he's definitly treated with more respect as back home in Alexandria. And the guy at the end (that end tho!) was probably Dwight, ready to work with Rick and everybody. Next episode has to be Oceanside, it needs to happen now. Nice reaction btw. But the episode just seems not complete, could've been 3 minutes longer, instead of that abrupt end.
Training montage to violins! ;) Nobody is dead yet! No body, no death. This show would have something horrific, not an off-camera death. At the moment I'm not into the theory of Eugene playing along, pretending to be on Negans team but when they're not looking we see that Eugene has some plan. Nope, no break in character, at this point he is clearly team Negan. Rosita should have shot him in the leg to "maintain his cover" ;) I don't think he is deep undercover. He is so scared he is unpredictable and dangerous. His fear overrules logic. If he does turn good, it'll be when it 100% safe, when loads of people have died. Speaking of dangerous cowards. Maybe Gregory is about to get his p45? Maggie will surely take over. Its been hinting this for a while now. It just clicked as I typing this... who is going to need a doctor real soon? Doesn't mean anything concrete, but I'm sure this will be an issue.
i think its dwight at the end and I think this is the beginning of his hero turn. Sherry believed he could still be a good man... now's his chance! i think Eugene is now a saviour.... he still cares for his friends but he thinks he can keep everyone alive... he could have shouted for help when Rosita and Sasha tried to save them but he bought them time... something about him thinks he's getting a better deal though. I think the finale's going to see losses on both sides. do you think Eugene might be one?
Jason MacDonald I think it's Dwight too. I'm interested to see if he chooses this moment to leave the Saviors or if he uses it to build his trust up with Negan. That's a very good point, Eugene could have shouted and made a scene but he ran away...Maybe he's just genuinely torn between the two? Personally I hope he has a plan already in motion and he wants to follow it through rather than have others killed by helping him. I don't think Eugene will die. It would be a shame if he did as I feel there's more story to tell there. I think sadly it'll be Sasha that we say goodbye too and possibly some more captures and tortures. What are your thoughts?
I don't think Sasha is gonna make it. Sorry if this is a spoiler but the actress has been cast in the new Star Trek tv series, but who knows maybe she can do two series at a time but I doubt it. Also since Eugene is a lot smarter than Daryl I think he can help the group out better by acting as an insider and has a plan to eventually go against Negan. It's a lot better plan than being loyal to Rick's group and eating dog food.
It's obviously not Daryl. If it were Daryl they would've just shown him, there's no need to hide him as if he were a secret character. It was Dwight 100% aka burnt face daryl wannabe.
LOL, Eugene is a coward so let's think of it from his way of thinking. Why run away from a nice room, nice food and power to either be hunted down for his return by Negan, forced to fight and risk his life by Rick's group or another bad situation. If he stays and Rick's people come and win, then they won't kill Eugene and Eugene lives; If they lose Eugene still lives to fight another day. He's the opposite to how Daryl was in the same situation.
You make very good points. If Rosita/Sasha tell Rick about what Eugene did, do you think they'd forgive or punish?..I think the trust would be gone again (same as when he lied about the cure at the beginning).

Exactly. Not to mention he would've screwed the entire preparing for war had he left with them. Negan would've went all the establishment's to find Eugene and wrecked havoc. Eugene knows how to make ammo. He knows that's a real threat. He will at some point "make ammo" for Negan in Season 8. That's shortly before he will make his escape with the help of Dwight and return to Hilltop.
The thing Sasha did was very dumb, how she think she will kill Negan in there, with all those saviors around and in a place she doesn't know???. And Rosita, what the hell was she thinking?, she knows first hand twice of what will happen if she fails on killing Negan, he will go against someone else. And for Eugine, i dont know, he just said he is a coward and that is why he is still alive, tricking people all the way, we will see soon...

Eugene mite have a plan for mass confusion of the Saviours if Rick ever decides to fight or Eugene doesn't want half his face burnt off .
I would love to hear your opinion on Eugene using a common argument to defend Negans actions which is "Well we killed many of his so it's justified" That rubbed me the wrong considering his relationship with Abe :(
I just realized they never showed Maggie's reaction to Sasha taking off.
I think Eugene is trying to protect himself, I do not think he would do any harm to Rick's group. As for Sasha, I think if she does not find a quick solution inside, she may actually die. But what really intrigues me and who really was there in the shadows. Haha
I trust Eugene, if the odds are good, he will help our team. I will miss Sacha, I feel she's one of the best actors in the show.
Thanks again for great review video! I didn't get to see it before today, that's why my comment was belated, but her it is. I'm surprised how the score fall from 9.5 on Monday down to 6.9 today. I thought it first scored high because of lot of action, and that it dropped if someone died, but thank God that didn't happen. But I'm worried for Sasha. As expected the Saviors visit Hilltop again and Rosita and Sasha went on their own mission to kill Negan, but I didn't expect it all to happen in the same episode. So why didn't Eugene join Sasha & Rosita? Maybe he met someone he's found of there, who he wants to bring with him and he has his own "point by point rescue plan" or maybe he really has become a Negan? In ep. 11 Eugene told Negan that he was a "negan" even before he got there, but was that true or just flattery? He was full of fear when he got there, and because of that easier to break than Daryl was, perhaps. If he's a Negan now he's even a bigger coward than Gregory is, but I doubt it. I hope not. Eugene's mind is a complicated mystery until he speaks and then he use to say it all without taking a breath. He's smart, but not really though, not a fighter, so maybe he dare nothing but obeying Negan? Only time will tell. I think it was a nice scene between Maggie and Daryl. Daryl's reaction in the season premiere was reckless, but he can't really be blamed for Glenn's death, cause Negan is totally unpredictable, maybe it would happen any way. We'll never know. Sorry my comment is too long, but this episode made me wonder about a lot...

Omg wasn't the most eventful episode, but that ending jesus. I was waiting the whole episode for Sasha and Rosita to assassinate him. In the end Sasha went in alone like badass but foolish af. I hate how they always end the episode when it gets interesting. Daryl is my favourite character, so good job for making me nervous. Also finally Daryl admitted he thought he it was his fault that Glenn died. I mean it kinda was his fault, but he didn't kill him.. Negan did. Cant wait for next weeks episode!!

What I feel is Sasha's going to get captured and Eugene's going to see it and he will give Sasha the suicide pills instead of having her put through pain and suffering and then after she's dead negan's going to bring her to Rick and that's when The All Out war is going to start but who knows
I hope if we do lose Sasha (and I hope we don't) that she at least turns into a walker & takes out a bunch of the Saviors from the inside haha

That Daryl/Maggie scene was more powerful than the Daryl/Carol reunion. It's also imo more important for Daryl to receive forgiveness from Maggie to ever so slightly lessen the burden on his shoulders.
Rosita and Sasha clearly still suffer from something like PTSD (Rosita moreso). Their honest talk will be the closest thing they will ever get to actual therapy. Some form of character development was long overdue.
I think there are 3 alternatives when it comes to Eugene:
1. he's scared of taking action at this moment because he's too close to the combat that would surely ensue. and he always said that he is not useful in combat.
2. he has a long-term plan and helping Rosita and Sasha right now would screw up that plan as it relies on him having the Saviours' trust and inside access.
3. he's being selfish and actually turned sides since he calculates higher chances of survival with the Saviours than Rick's group.
Also, that music at the end sounded like a version of the music at the end of 7x08 when they were doing their power walk at the Hilltop. Probably to create a contrast between the unity then and her feeling left out now. Or it might be to signal that this was the next important move in the beginning of the war against the Saviours (the first being the ending of 7x08, i.e. the decision to fight back).
Let's take a moment and pray... *please Robert Kirkman, please allow for Maggie & her baby to survive! I wish for a scene of Enid holding Glenn's child holding a green balloon*
Oh my word, I choked up. Such a deep scene. I think even though Maggie has made it clear that she doesn't blame him, Daryl will still hold the weight of these actions on his shoulders - hopefully time will help him.
That scene with Rosita & Sasha felt so raw to me. As you said it was like a therapy session & guards were down - it was nice to see. Although Sasha locking Rosita out at the end...THAT WAS NOT THE PLAN SASHA!
Which out of those options do you lean towards most? I think i'm leaning towards 2...and by 'think' I mean hope! It would be fun to explore Eugene's traitor story though if 3 was the result.

at this specific moment I think it was a mix of option 1 and 2 but I also hope that it's 2.
If 3 was true and Eugene survives the war with the Saviours it would be kinda cool if he were to become the next big bad of the series :D

People seem pretty split on what side Eugene is on. It's a difficult one to predict. He definitely looked in his element at the compound...I cant believe he would forget about what Negan did in 7x1 though!
DakaraJayne You're definitely right about that. But I think he adapts to every situation he's in and I think he wants to be on the side he thinks is the winning side.
I think it was Jesus at the end. Here's my theory: Daryl asked Jesus where they are. Jesus said, "I'll go with you." Instead of going with Daryl, he knocked him out or incapacitated him in some way. Jesus knows that if Daryl goes back to the Sanctuary, he'll be re-incarcerated and or tortured. So... he takes the crossbow and heads to Sanctown. We might see that played out in the next episode.

Yeah, Eugene is a smart one, but I just can't imagine him just doing everything on purpose and with a masterplan in his head. Like I said, I think he feels kinda comfortable and needed, he's definitly treated with more respect as back home in Alexandria. And the guy at the end (that end tho!) was probably Dwight, ready to work with Rick and everybody. Next episode has to be Oceanside, it needs to happen now.

At the moment I'm not into the theory of Eugene playing along, pretending to be on Negans team but when they're not looking we see that Eugene has some plan. Nope, no break in character, at this point he is clearly team Negan.

I don't think he is deep undercover. He is so scared he is unpredictable and dangerous. His fear overrules logic.
If he does turn good, it'll be when it 100% safe, when loads of people have died.

i think Eugene is now a saviour.... he still cares for his friends but he thinks he can keep everyone alive... he could have shouted for help when Rosita and Sasha tried to save them but he bought them time...

That's a very good point, Eugene could have shouted and made a scene but he ran away...Maybe he's just genuinely torn between the two? Personally I hope he has a plan already in motion and he wants to follow it through rather than have others killed by helping him.
I don't think Eugene will die. It would be a shame if he did as I feel there's more story to tell there. I think sadly it'll be Sasha that we say goodbye too and possibly some more captures and tortures. What are your thoughts?

I don't think Sasha is gonna make it. Sorry if this is a spoiler but the actress has been cast in the new Star Trek tv series, but who knows maybe she can do two series at a time but I doubt it. Also since Eugene is a lot smarter than Daryl I think he can help the group out better by acting as an insider and has a plan to eventually go against Negan. It's a lot better plan than being loyal to Rick's group and eating dog food.

LOL, Eugene is a coward so let's think of it from his way of thinking. Why run away from a nice room, nice food and power to either be hunted down for his return by Negan, forced to fight and risk his life by Rick's group or another bad situation.
If he stays and Rick's people come and win, then they won't kill Eugene and Eugene lives; If they lose Eugene still lives to fight another day. He's the opposite to how Daryl was in the same situation.
You make very good points. If Rosita/Sasha tell Rick about what Eugene did, do you think they'd forgive or punish?..I think the trust would be gone again (same as when he lied about the cure at the beginning).
DakaraJayne I don't think Rosita will tell Rick what Eugene did. If he ever makes it out there and back to Alexandria then I think Rosita will keep the conflict between them seeing as they're the only 2 left from the trio with Abraham gone.
Terrible point. Eugene was smart. He saved Rick's group. If he left with them there he would've ruined the entire war for Rick's side. Eugene is playing "Negan" so good fan's are buying it! i love it!

Exactly. Not to mention he would've screwed the entire preparing for war had he left with them. Negan would've went all the establishment's to find Eugene and wrecked havoc. Eugene knows how to make ammo. He knows that's a real threat. He will at some point "make ammo" for Negan in Season 8. That's shortly before he will make his escape with the help of Dwight and return to Hilltop.

The thing Sasha did was very dumb, how she think she will kill Negan in there, with all those saviors around and in a place she doesn't know???. And Rosita, what the hell was she thinking?, she knows first hand twice of what will happen if she fails on killing Negan, he will go against someone else. And for Eugine, i dont know, he just said he is a coward and that is why he is still alive, tricking people all the way, we will see soon...

also, what was eugene going to do if he esaped with them? the chances of them killing negan are very slim so negan would go out and find eugene and there would be no going back and his plan would be ruined. also if eugene was completely negan i think he wouldve warned that last guy that we saw sasha kill that they were coming in. it is still possible that he switched sides but i just think its too early to say that based on what we have seen
