Whether it was a rant or words of wisdom, your opening monologue is right. It's amazing to me that a plastic toy pushing 60 years of age is still around.

I had a doctor friend of mine who once told me, “If it’s not going to make a difference a week from now, it’s not worth worrying about.” Good show. Too bad kids today don’t get a chance to just play as a kid like we did.

"A man has got to know his limitations" H. Callahan. Great show, love the GI Joe, and was a big fan as a kid and we played hard with it. Everything went through the mud, the creek the woods etc. A true Adventure Team experience! Since I retired I almost NEVER wake up with the worries, used to be a real problem, sleep like a baby now!

    ScoutCrafter,
Your comment on "over-torquing" brought a smile to my heart. I was working on a new build project. For some 17:43 the designer of an anchor windlass designed the covers on the bearings with a single stud on each side of the cover. As each chain link rolled over the gypsy the cover would lift to where you could see daylight.
Wrenches gave way to torque wrenches. Torque wrenches gave way to slug wrenches, all to avail. To put this into perspective the chain was about 2-1/2" inches in diameter and if I remember correctly about 300# per link. The next plan was to try a hydraulic tension bolt.
The bearing cap passed the test. The problem was when we returned the next day the nut, washer, and half of the stud were nowhere to be found.
Ultimately, a reputable supplier with a high tensile stud of suitable
material for hydraulic tension was chosen.
The bearing caps lasted for at least 20 years of service.
    Bob

I think worrying is good provided it comes with some form of action. Worrying and not doing anything about your plight is not ideal. I used to worry about my truck breaking down, but I decided to buy a second, third, fourth, and fifth vehicle, not counting motorcycles. Now I never worry about a vehicle breaking down. Now I worry about parking space 😂. Great discussion on the pry bars. I think people think every tool is like an old craftsman lifetime warranty item and they try and break the tool for sport. Great stuff. Cheers

I have recently just stopped listening to all news as well. Everyone kind of looks at me weird when I tell them, "I don't listen to the news...". When I watch it, I think it is sucking all the positive momentum out of me. :D And I love the 3 foot rule, I call it a 10 foot rule around here! Sometimes when I paint a car, I say "Eh, its a 20 foot paint job, it'll do....".

I have bad road rage. What sets me off is how so many people lack one shred of courtesy. Left hand turns from right hand lanes. Right hand turns from the left hand lane... I see it daily. That's why I spend WAY too much money having food delivered. Because if I go get it myself, I know I'll come back home in a bad mood.
I had the GI Joe space capsule and a ton of other GI Joe stuff. I ended up selling it all to a collector about 20 years ago.

The amazing thing is this toy is almost a scale copy of the Mercury capsule. The real capsule was tiny. So to the two man capsule, Gemini. There is a replica on the USS Intrepid. I think it is a Gemini. Tiny thing.

I still have my GI Joe Mercury space capsule with the full-sized GI Joe in his space suit - all in fairly decent shape. I also have the 45 RPM record that came with it. During my youth, I also had the Jeep (with trailer and spotlight) and a big blue jet.... but, unfortunately, they got tossed by my parents along the way. The footlocker I still have is damaged from an ignition spark coil project I fit into it and the rubberized diving suit is hard as a rock with age and years of attic heat. Fortunately, I never did have one of those dinky, half-pint GI Joes......

I am proud to say i come from a long line of worriers! I decided to embrace it, my wife, not so much. Just last night, up from 12 to 2 am - work, kids, world events, doesn't matter. Over to the couch and youtube to the rescue. Maybe when i retire it will get better (probably not).
Loved the GI Joe as a kid, both the early military and later adventure (life like beards!), and i passed them on to my son - yellow 6 wheel drive car, astronaut, abominable snowman - great memories. Were they in the Sears catalog too - or just the pamphlets that came with the kits??? I can't recall. thanks as always for the videos.

also, you reminded me when I was about 20 years old. moved into a new place and noticed the garage door spring mounting. bracket tilt up had lag bolts that were not fully seated. so I used my socket wrench to tighten them down. first bolt broke off. so I went ahead to tighten the second (and only ) lag bolt. John I always thought of those crescent prybars but I always felt like you the point of failure would give way and be a knuckle buster. Funny story I'm a gorilla I guess like your father described when I just entered my teens I remember helping my godfather put a bike rack on his car and he handed me the craftsman box wrench to tighten the nut and bolt. Me being me I asked how tight and he said as tight as you can make it, so it put a good amount of force onto it without even using my body weight just my hand strength and I turned his combination wrench into a horseshoe and got his attention and was like we have a problem. He swore I leaned and jumped on the wrench and I had to really explain to him I was just doing as he said and assured him I didn't even lean my body into it, I'm surprised the bolts never snapped. I'll always remember that.

The only G.I. Joe I ever knew as a kid besides the REAL ones were Joe and Willy in the 'Up Front' book of WW-2 by Bill Mauldin my dad had. And if there's something I can't do anything about I just blow it off. If it persists I pray about it, THEN blow it off. I've lived too long and gone through too much to be torn up by much and these liars all over are NOT getting to this old boy! Happy week, John! Remain calm, snore on and God Bless! I would had it splash down in the water trough. I know a lot of people hated the song Don't Worry Be Happy, but it is something everyone needs to work toward. You can't fix the world and getting people riled up is profitable. If I am not sleeping I have audio books on my phone that I can listen to next to my head or I turn on a light and pull out a non fiction book or a manual and start reading. They really don't stimulate your brain even though you like the material. Blackstone's Commentary on Laws of England or common law will do that. My parents would get War and Peace out that will put you to sleep.

Fun little repair on the capsule. On line tool reviews and you see the “I used it twice and it broke” and you see 200 reviews stating “ it works well for me” it always makes me wonder about the negative review and how were they using what ever they were negative about. The “ finger” aw yes, I refer to it as “digital romance”. Thanks for the video, appreciate your time.

I'm a worrier like you. Though I'm the pessimistic kind. The house kept me up the most I think, still does. It helps me to accept that I own a old house, that will need constant work. Besides that it helps to know everything is realitive, the next owner will most likely rip out everything I spent countless hours on making and keeping clean. And even then, the chance of this house being there still in another 60+ years is so slim. And maybe that's fine. Either way, there's is little I can do.

Nice job on the capsule cleanup and repair. I get up at least twice a night to pee after the first bathroom call that’s it the ballgame is over. I can’t get b to sleep. I usually average 3 hours a night sleep. If I do fall asleep then it’s time to pee again!! The doctor gave me pills but they didn’t help!

ScoutCrafter, I don't know how you could worry about anything, apparently you've got a Sawzall. Says so right behind you.
Pry bars; As a residential carpenter I needed to have a bar that I could count on. No Home Depot trash. Mine are from Sweden.
I have them in five sizes. There are no finer bars; none. Finely ground tips on both ends. What must be the finest steel.
Svedbro Smide - some of my finest tools. All the best.

You may know about this tool, but theres something called a spudger, and ifixit makes a nice one. It's good for jobs like separating that space capsule

Yeah, waking up in the night, with thoughts racing, and not able to get back to sleep, is one of my problems at the moment, 😢,,
I recently saw a review of an Estwing hammer, and the reviewer said they were bad because it had snapped in two, at the top of the handle,, 😱,, what kind of maniac abuses tools like that,, !!🤬
Over here in England, we had "Action Man" instead of GI Joe,
My dad said they were "dolls" , and wouldn't let me have one,, 😢,,
Yep, dad's were tough in them days,, 😂😂
All the best from across the pond,, 👍

I wouldn't have had you down as a worrier John, optimist yes, I guess we all have a night like that every once in a while, it's when it's every night you need to worry - time for change !
You're so right about the reviews and I do take bad reviews with a pinch of salt, even tools you know to be from decent manufacturers also have some bad reviews. I noted this particularly recently when comparing some drill bit sets, where there were always some review saying how terrible they were and broke on first use, luckily you do also get some experienced reviewers who give some advice on appropriate speeds and use of coolants etc. we can all break a drill bit if we're careless !
That capsule is the same vintage as me, the whole space story was such big news in the sixties of course and some of my earliest memories are from coverage of the Apollo 11 mission and the footage of the Eagle lunar module.

I had that GI Joe Jeep but managed to destroy it somehow. Had Jeeps ever since though. 6 now I think, most junk but that's what you have fun with. Had an 07 JK but thought a lot about getting a Toyota like yours. I had to have a rag top tho. I had a 93 Toyota truck I wish I'd never gotten rid of but I probably wouldn't have it now anyway or itd be roached. I'm with you on waking up too . Had to hit the head like you said and been up since 2:30 this morning cause I had to take my wife to Dr. Just a regular test but no way I'd get back to sleep. You might have still been In your shop. I'm a nightowl too. 10:29

Hi Scoutcrafter, a possible future project for the shop.....the Scoutcrafter patent don't give crap mind switch? Just turn off and on as required, HUGE market for it. I have a space capsule, with the outfit, don't often see them on this side of the pond. 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️

I always remember some old movie where a loada GI Joe toys get burned in an arson of an department store, and one of these was hanging over them all, and of the Gi Joe adventure team, only one continued into the 'real American hero' era, Tom Stone became Sgt. Stalker

Great idea but I stayed away from them.

Would hide glue work on plastic? You can heat it up and it will release otherwise it holds well.

I think I’m worried about you. The space capsule is questionable on this channel. Did you not sleep last night?!! Just kidding. A good lesson in plastic repair. The pry bars are for soft work in my opinion. I know they are handy to have. I learned the hard way when to stop the torque on screws and bolts. I had my share of learning the hard way. Good show, thank you

Not only do I see the glass as half empty, but upon further examination I notice the glass is cracked, so I dump out the water and throw the glass into the trash.😂 I’ll bet you slept like a baby when you were in the Marines. You were too tired to wake up and worry. Interestingly my dad did not want me to have a GI Joe. He referred to it as playing with dolls. It took years before he finally allowed me to get one.
