      can a best team lose the world cup final? Can the best team be average FIFA rank 53 since introduction of FIFA ranking? :D Brazil is a good team, Hungary had 3 good world cups (the 2 before the war, at this time World Cup was new and not to compare with today),
      but if you are not over 70 please tell me, why is such a small country, over 60 years later crying and crying in EVERY video I have seen here since 2003 or so?! I get the feeling that World Cup 1954 is tought there in the 1st or 2nd class if I read all these Hungarian Names and the blabla why they won.

      First! Hungary was big powerful country almost 1000 years long! (for the such a small country!) But terrible west Europeans with Jewish took Hungarian lands! Second That Hungarian team did something very special playing style in football history. People loved how they played. Pele loved Puskas! When Puskas team went to play South America they didn't want to let them go home! Can I ask when happened this with a German team? Germany can focus very well for tournaments like Italy and I give respect for this. But this Hungarian team really PLAYED this game. This is why people loved them. And this why Hungarians still cry because they deserved the world cup win. And the fucking Liebrich wanted brake Puskas's leg and the ref didn't do anything. The ref was also terrible on this game because let the Germans to do anything. And Puskas scored two with bad leg in the final but the ref didn't give the goal for the second one and after one minute when everybody thought it is 3-3! If this team really wanted play seriously they could score 6,7,8 goal to most of team. Puskas said after the 7-1 vs England they did stop play for last 15 minute because they felt sorry for England. What team could do this in History? Only one thing was true Tony Turek was amazing on that game, but Puskas still scored two! Third! I'm not 70 and hate even that the young people are saying the football was not strong that time and even Pele is not the best. Pele is the best forever in the football history and to me that is not football what they are playing today.

    The German team is the only all-amateur team that ever won a World Cup. Other teams were professional Soccer Players or had a professional job as players for their country, like Hungary soldiers. The Germans fielded the best team in the Final.

      Man! You don't know too much about Hungary from that time! Professional players are from Hungary that time???? :))))) They got few $ per national team match!!! You call this professional? Even Florian Albert, only one Hungarian player who won Ballon D'or in 1967, he lived in the basement!!!! Or just check the Germans shoes (great ADIDAS already). Check Puskas's shoes from that time. Please first thinking after writing! Germany had a very big lucky on this world cup. Uruguay and Brazil were also much better team.

      1954 Wankdorf Stadion in Bern, 60,000 people including me. Hungary's team captain Ferenc Puskás was still not fully fit after injuries he got in the first game against West Germany in Basel. He played anyhow. Hungary's match against Brazil was brutal. An extra time tiebreaker match against Uruquay was just as brutal. Riots took place after the matches in the lockers. West Germany won with an unseeded amateur team with Adidas shoes in the prevailing weather and good foresight to play the second match with a first class team. The Hungarian team, as I remember were soldiers with paid salaries by the communist state to play soccer professionally for Budapesti Honvéd FC and for other major clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain.
      The German team were amateur players as West Germany did not have a professional league. They had regular jobs to support them self.

      Karl Rathgeb Wow you were there? Great respect for you! So, I have a very big question for you! Where did you sit in the stadium? According you Puskas's goal at 86 minute was offside or not? About professional: you don't think that they got any money from Hungarian army. It was only a big joke. + Puskas really didn't care the stupid army thing. He had to do it. In the communism there was not professional player. The government opened the dishes store to help them but they played card instead to care the store.:) Puskas and many other Honved player didn't go back to Hungary in 1956 because they got finally 10.000$/game on the Brazil tour and the Hungarian government wanted take off from them this money too. And Puskas said: no we keep this money finally. And the politic said: so you gonna die if you come home. The German team did great, but you said too this WC was very hard to Hungary and everything was against them. After this final the Hungarian fans were also very stupid because they were mad for this great team. We are sill crying because this final. If you have chance to buy the Puskas documentary DVD buy it. It has English subtitle and it is very interesting what a career he had. And you will know everything about this team.

      Most of our players were solidiers in WW2 and there was no mayor league in Germany all of the Players were lived in poor boroughs of Kaiserslautern or in the ruins of citys like Nürnberg München Berlin etc. and you must notice that 3 Goals are very good its similar if 1860 Munich (3rd German League) would score 3 Goals against Machaster City

      Well, then have a closer look at the German line-up and compare it to that of the final. Their coach Sepp Herberger had deliberately given a break to quite a lot of important players because of the strange mode of that tournament (it was more likely to qualify for the quarter-finals by winning twice against Turkey than by obtaining a point from the Hungary match).
      Goalkeeper was one Heinrich Kwiatkowski, his first cap ever, and several of the others hadn't played before or did so after that match.

      Well, the best team doesn't always win in a one game play-off. Another example of this simple truth: the 1984 North Carolina Tar Heels were clearly the best team in NCAA basketball that year, but they didn't even make the final (they're the best team I ever watched). I have no doubt that in a three-match series, Hungary would have won, but rain, mud, a dodgy offside decision, and Helmut Rahn spoiled the Magnificent Magyar's party on that given day in 1954.

(31 undefeated game, still record) First team which won in Wembley (1953 3-6) and after 7-1 in Budapest. Nobody speaking about that game. And Puskas also told after 7 they played only for fun because they felt sorry for English players. So you think Germany won because five starting player did not play in first game? (my age is 41)

    This is maybe the only final where the better team lost. Germany was a good team, but far not on that level, Hungary had one if not the best team ever. There were many factors... Puskas' injury, the rain, disallowing one Hungarian goal, drugs, worse shoes, Hungarians couldn't sleep (German fans made noise at night), the hard semi-final...

    • @rhe5745
      @rhe5745 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hungary could also get a penalty (34.Minute). Many safes from German Goalie Turek. Kohlmeyer saved two times from goal line. First half Hungary shoot to the goalpost. 50 % of Refs would have decided foul from Schäfer against Grosics before the equalizer and from Schäfer against Bozsik before the 3:2. Obviously God wanted the germans to be champions in order to give them back a bit of self confidence, 9 years after WW 2.

      It was natural, Hungarians are very good at many things. (In olympic gold medals it's in the 8th place with 10 million people.) Hungary was very strong then for decades. Football was very slow, worse, it was easier. But Hungarian football didn't improve since the 50's, 60's, so it got worse and worse. In fact the Hungarian players couldn't even run so many as others in the 90's. As if they're playing in the 60's.

If they wanted and they play really seriously they can score 5-8 goal again. Puskas told the true: after the second goal they didn't play seriously and this is the football, if one team doing this that team can get trouble and they got, referee, rain, unlucky... germany fielded their reserve team
    because the mission was to injure as much hungarian key player as they can

    • @Centa92
      @Centa92 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Actually the mission was to give the first team players a rest to be fit for the deciding match against Turkey...

      uhhh nope

    • @Centa92
      @Centa92 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course. Herberger even wrote a letter towards DFB to explain this plan.
      Still the german supporters were very angry with him that he did not play the first team.

      If herberger wrote about it must be true then
      Let me think NO

    • @Centa92
      @Centa92 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      But if you are talking shit it is more likely to be true?
      Tell me, why should the German team do that? Do you think they were like "let us weaken Hungary for the final"?? That would not make any sense, because no one expected Germany to reach the final, including themselves.
      Plus, in the end only Puskas picked up an injury in this game. Their quarterfinal against Brazil was much harder for them...

      Hungarians were not on drugs. They faced the toughest possible route to the final. Why cast shade in this way when German players admitted they were drugged?

      @@norben1162 if you search up the 1954 WC you cann see that hungary was matched with far better teams than germany and its maybe a case that they had a false offside goal because back then hungary was communist
