You have often talked about pinching or cutting off the tail of a soft plastic to "match the hatch." What about pinching or cutting off the nose of the bait, so you still have the action of the tail with a smaller bait? It would require rerigging the bait, but....

Seems like that should work if you want a shorter bait. The Slam Shady 2.0 is just 3.5" so it's already pretty short.
