Muhammad Azrul • now that you mentioned it it does sound like she's singing while she watch you fight her hords of personal army in a hopes that you fail so she could enjoy watching you turn into space dust
I'm just glad after all that the 'Return to base' doesn't include having to land the craft Top Gun style! Fun arcade shooter, but the final boss was a real tone shift, her theme was errily unsettling, I think her massive baseship is a great background setting. There's also a 'borg' like look about her. Saying that i think cosmic slime was pretty mundane for a boss, although the consistency in the villain designs gives the threat a uniformed look.
Not only that. The arcade where I played this had a sound issue at this stage. The sound constantly became glitched but that thing kept on singing. That made it even more creepy
Visually it's not the best even for the early years of the Neo Geo but music and gameplay are top notch. The system may be known more for the fighting games and Metal Slug but has given great contributions to the shmup genre.
*WARNING MAJOR ENEMY IS APPROACHING* "Okay, what design will the boss be now?" *LUNAR WALKER* "Oh, a spider tank walker based on the lunar lander! That's a nea-" *Dude literally walks in from the side.* "... Okay. Bit literal, but that is what the boss title said."
They do good work. OSTs for those games are absolute fire. Can't get the first boss theme of Battle Garegga out of my head sometimes. (edit) Damn the last boss is just slower Dodonpachi music huh?
The creepiness and horror factors that the 80s and 90s had blow out everything we have today. Valkyrie (and all of the bosses from this game for that matter), Lavos, Gigyas; there are only a few beasts that compare to them that are from this day of age. You’re probably asking “why?”, well the answer is pretty simple: Ambiguity (get ready for a planet-load of irony). These guys had no definitive backstory or personality. All we knew is that they wanted to take over or destroy the world but it was never explained why. The closest comparison I can think of is Void Termina from Kirby.
Man, does the final boss's theme give you guys major Battle Garegga vibes...? That one certain part in the theme sounds....suspiciously similar to Erupter.
Boss list:
00:05 01 Roc Carrier
01:34 02 Lunar Walker
02:55 03 Cosmic Slime
05:16 04 Constrictor
06:54 05 Loki
08:29 06 Big Bill
09:33 07 Insane Ship
10:53 Final Boss - Valkyrie

Dang u still going? Wow.
Holy freaking shit. The final boss is somewhat very disturbing especially when she’s singing while fighting against you.
I don't hear her singing though.

Huh! What a strange final boss! That certainly makes this game pretty unique.

Hot damn, get a load of that intense music and the dynamic boss animations! I'll have to look more into this, looks pretty cool
It's Gabber - hardcore techno from The Netherlands.
Final boss is singing:
"Iru u zenshi
Ai u zenshi
uuuuuuuuuu"
That final boss used to give me nightmares.... It still does...
At first I honestly asked myself why it would... THEN I noticed that Shodan-looking thing change expression.

@@talhajaved9265 Damn, talk about nightmare fuel.
@@AlexThePyroshark 2 sleepless weeks, just think about it
I can imagine.
The boss music intro gives me major Galacta Knight vibes.
Ikr?
The soundtrack is like pure 90s house.
Been meaning to get this game on Switch. Looks like a really fun shmup!
This shump is 70%serious and hard like Gradius but have 30%of weird like Parodius

reuses the same sprites quite a bit but the animations are very smooth imo, it doesn't look bad at all
10:53 this is gonna haunt me in my sleep
1:53 Gunstar Green called, he wants his Soldier Force back
Seven Force!
That last boss battle looks really hard... and the game was just al Level-4 difficulty!! O_O
Its a SNK game, but he got it with no damage, would have taken me forever
Used to love playing this one on the old Windows 98 Neo Geo emulator!
damn that final boss is creepy

Surreal shooter with a funky soundtrack
You PLANNING Game very Ultimate and effortlessness ❤❤❤ I really so Excited ❤❤❤
That end boss is creepy.
1:45 - Is that Galakta knights theme?
i remember that game, played alot on neo geo recently :)
Lunar Walker looks like it came straight out of FRAXY.
Joguei demais esse jogo... difícil e divertido demais... além das músicas marcantes...
The more I look at it, the more Valkyrie makes me think of a Keita Amemiya monster in its design.
Great 💯✌️
