Thank you Grace! I have been enjoying adding landscape backgrounds rather than blurry backgrounds that most people do. I feel it completes the story this way.

Loving this follow-up to your other mountain bluebird. Love love love the delicate feathering around the face and on the breast -- such incredible realism! A question if I may. You said you were using 600 grit paper which seems to be a finer paper but as yet I don't understand pastel painting requirements, but what is standard paper and how does that compare with 600 grit? 🥰 Cheryl

Thank you for your lovely comments and question. I don't know if there is a standard paper, but Uart has a range of 320/400/500/600/800 etc. The smaller grit sizes are great for landscaping and finer grits are good when you require more detail. 500 is a good in between paper you can use for most art projects. Also, I think you can apply more layers of pastel over a more grainy paper verses the paper with 600 to 800 graded papers

@@PastelArtwithRitaGinsberg Thank you, Rita! You spelled out the differences in the numbers. In watercolor 130 lb paper is standard, 300 really nice and 600 for the master artist I guess and not so affordable. Similar concepts, just different numbering systems ... and I really appreciate the detail! Warm happy thoughts attached! 🥰 Cheryl

What type of paintbrush do you use to paint the pastel with alcohol? And how do you care for the brushes after each use? Maybe this would be a good tutorial. Thank you. 😏

Thanks that's a good suggestion. I've switched to softer watercolor brushes but nothing expensive. I appreciate your enthusiasm and engagement my friend. 😁

I love your artistic style and the way you teach. But the speed demontration is way too fast. Even when I slow it down its too fast. I think you would have a lot more of a following if you switch it up. Maybe slow it down to 50% speed so a person can watch real time speed at 50%. Your techniques are wonderful.

Thank you J for your comment. I will take your recommendation and test out my demonstration speeds and slow down detailed areas more. I appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoy my lessons.
