- Miss Universe 2011, the 60th anniversary of the Miss Universe pageant, was held on September 12, 2011 at Citibank Hall, São Paulo, Brazil. Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned the winner by outgoing titleholder Ximena Navarrete of Mexico, becoming the fourth African country to win the title after South Africa in 1978, Namibia in 1992 and Botswana in 1999. Contestants from 89 countries and territories participated in this year's pageant, surpassing the previous record of 86 contestants in 2006.

For a long time, I agree ever since 2016. But 2018 struck that culture back at us which was good. Hopefully they can incorporate that into Miss Universe 2019

@@mariapaulinaabesamis2762 yess but I hate the fact that 80% of the show was about speech. Instead SS & EG competition together only 15 minuts?! Interview for the announcements, top20 statements, video at top 10 announcement, top5 Q&A and top3 final word is quite annoying
@@giuseppepanella211 The thing js they are looking for women that can be effective speakers as the whole point of being Miss Universe is about speaking and helping out. For me glitz and glamour can be secondary thing.

era tudo gravado.Inclusive a apresentação das candidatas que foi gravada durante as preliminares.Era planejado que elas fossem se apresentar com os trajes típicos,mas as malas da Miss India e da Miss Suécia foram extraviadas a caminho do Brasil.
I really like the opening song it gives the Brazilian Party Vibe and also their flowy cocktail dresses so so beautiful everything just brightens up the mood.

back in 2011 (I was 10), I used to listen to this video of 2011 candidates introducing themselves on repeat for like a year as I browse on the internet because I liked the song they used and miss universe was (and is still) a big deal in the Philippines. I listened to it so much I ended up memorizing all the names of the candidates, age, their countries and even the way they said it (true story!!). Now, it has faded and I just remember some. To my advantage, whenever we play games and requires me to give as many countries as possible or give countries starting with a certain letter, I always win 😂 I am glad they uploaded this now as I couldn’t find it back then. Thank you! brings back so many memories haha

The traditional culture of Brazil
There's a lot of clichés for us.As you see,but São Paulo and Brasília acconts everything.
I, like thousands of Brazilians, felt ashamed during the Miss Universe 2011. It was an overdose of clichés about the country.I imagined that the candidates would visit the whole country in the activities of the contest, but they only stayed in São Paulo. photographs were made on the beaches of the State of São Paulo that are dreadful during the winter (the contest was at the end of September and we are in the southern hemisphere) and the Misses were embarrassed with the chosen bikinis that were of a local brand and had bolder cuts and fair in relation to what is used outside the country. The musical performances were also embarrassing. Claúdia Leite is the queen of other people's shame and Bebel Gilberto was drunk. As much as the carnival in the city of São Paulo has grown in the last few years in a gigantic and sustainable way in the past few years now rivaling that of other cities like Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Salvador, there are thousands of other cool things in the city, in the state and country.
