It's kinda neat how you can tell through your songs which characters you really enjoy on a personal level. The quality is always much higher, which isn't a jab it's just cool that you can actually see the extra excitement that went into it. It also helps when you make multiple songs about them lol It kinda makes me feel like albums based on a specific series or media are inevitable. I know there are bound to already be some that I'm just not aware of, and things like gameboy jones with MHA and NLJ (woah woah woah, chill) with naruto kinda emulate that already.

WOW, EASILY DPS'S BEST WORK. Every song has been good for years, but this is just a cut above the rest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but DPS doesn't do drill very often. But it still works brilliantly because DPS leads his songs. The beat follows him and it's something I think a lot of rappers could learn from, allow the beat to follow you and not the other way around. As a production and mix, this song is ingenious. The hook has this ominous droning bass, that sits in front of everything else, but is ducked down so low that it doesn't overshadow anything that needs to be heard above it. And the things that are being heard above it are the quiet strings that follow that bass and the incredible choir vocals of Itunu. It creates this contrast between the bass and other instruments that makes it feel like a heroes anthem that's been corrupted, turned into an ominous tyrant. It sounds like pure violent tragedy. Going into the verse the song never really slows down, we get rid of the gentle strings and tragic choir for a driving scene and a more moving 808 line more typical of drill. There's so much dead space which contributes so nicely to the BARS that DPS is spitting. There's so much variation both in the rhyme scheme and beat. But there's a never a point where the transition feels awkward or abrupt. Same thing goes for the 2nd verse except the energy and drops are much more pronounced. The synth backs up and allows DPS to go all out. Leads us into the final section of the song, and GOD DAMN ITS FIRE, one more quick energy drop, before everything comes back in, the strings are more pronounced the bg vocals drive to something that feels like (no pun intended ) an unstoppable train of energy. Before the song just ends, this is something I've always appreciated DPS does right, but it's never been so obvious as it is here. He always knows when to end the song. Almost always the song ends on the highest point of energy. It doesn't allow itself to fade out but rather hit the listener with everything it has right at the end. Another hook wouldn't have done this song any favors and I think that's very much on purpose. We've experienced the highest point of build, there would be no need to do another hook unless it goes even further. So DPS didn't put one, easy, but also super smart. Sorry for the essay, but bravo 🔥

It's kinda neat how you can tell through your songs which characters you really enjoy on a personal level. The quality is always much higher, which isn't a jab it's just cool that you can actually see the extra excitement that went into it. It also helps when you make multiple songs about them lol
It kinda makes me feel like albums based on a specific series or media are inevitable. I know there are bound to already be some that I'm just not aware of, and things like gameboy jones with MHA and NLJ (woah woah woah, chill) with naruto kinda emulate that already.

WOW, EASILY DPS'S BEST WORK. Every song has been good for years, but this is just a cut above the rest.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but DPS doesn't do drill very often. But it still works brilliantly because DPS leads his songs. The beat follows him and it's something I think a lot of rappers could learn from, allow the beat to follow you and not the other way around.
As a production and mix, this song is ingenious. The hook has this ominous droning bass, that sits in front of everything else, but is ducked down so low that it doesn't overshadow anything that needs to be heard above it. And the things that are being heard above it are the quiet strings that follow that bass and the incredible choir vocals of Itunu. It creates this contrast between the bass and other instruments that makes it feel like a heroes anthem that's been corrupted, turned into an ominous tyrant. It sounds like pure violent tragedy.
Going into the verse the song never really slows down, we get rid of the gentle strings and tragic choir for a driving scene and a more moving 808 line more typical of drill. There's so much dead space which contributes so nicely to the BARS that DPS is spitting. There's so much variation both in the rhyme scheme and beat. But there's a never a point where the transition feels awkward or abrupt. Same thing goes for the 2nd verse except the energy and drops are much more pronounced. The synth backs up and allows DPS to go all out.
Leads us into the final section of the song, and GOD DAMN ITS FIRE, one more quick energy drop, before everything comes back in, the strings are more pronounced the bg vocals drive to something that feels like (no pun intended ) an unstoppable train of energy. Before the song just ends, this is something I've always appreciated DPS does right, but it's never been so obvious as it is here. He always knows when to end the song. Almost always the song ends on the highest point of energy. It doesn't allow itself to fade out but rather hit the listener with everything it has right at the end. Another hook wouldn't have done this song any favors and I think that's very much on purpose. We've experienced the highest point of build, there would be no need to do another hook unless it goes even further. So DPS didn't put one, easy, but also super smart.

I've said it many times and I'll say it again, no one, and I do mean no one, is a better mixer than DPS. Omar goes off on his productions but they would not hit nearly as hard if DPS was not the one mastering this.
