Nice..hope 3m/Festool gave you the complete package to keep free of charge or at a great discount. Sure saves time on cleanup. The long-term health benefits are the icing on the cake. Great weekend to You and Yours. Much happiness and goid health as well.👍
A really light dusting won't clog the sand paper. Guys used it for years before companies said, "Hey... I'll bet we could get body shops to buy really expensive stuff in a spray can called guide coat." Just messing around but that's probably very close to how it went - like selling water :)
@@LakesideAutobody lol you’re definitely right, a while back I didn’t hear anyone talking about guide coat and now it’s almost like a tool you have to have
Jerry, the Virtually Dust Free Sanding link isn't working FYI. Certainly a nice setup to keep the dust down which is a major concern of mine. Thanks, Randy
Hey boss, ive been watching your videos and have been learning alot of stuff i cant wait to put to use on my restoration, i was wondering if you have anything one fixing rust holes around the windshield, maybe some at the bottom near the back of the dash, id love to get some insight from a pro like you so maybe i can fix mine
I did a Ranger that leaked from a rust hole right around where you are talking about. The windshield had to be taken out (cracked anyway) and repaired from there. After the windshield is out you would go about repairing in like any other rust repair. You'll cut out all the bad sheet metal, grind the area clean, weld in the homemade patch panels, tap it down a bit, fill with either reg filler or fiberglass reinforced, prime, block, prime again, finish sand, paint. That's the quick run down but if I come across a car that needs it I certainly do a video on it. Let me know how your project is coming my friend - glad you like the content :)
@@LakesideAutobody awesome ill check that video out,i appreciate the reply, also, where is your shop located, I heard from someone tbat your in michigan, if thats the case and your not to far from traverse id love to bring my catalina in to see sbout getting some work done, ive seen nothing but quality work on your channel
@@jonathonsaavedra843 Ahh.. the old Catalina - I liked the way those cars looked. I'm in Saint Helen, MI - the problem is I'm booked up for like 2 years - can't catch up. Have a good week Jonathon :)
Definitely would’ve never attempted to do the body work on my trucks if it weren’t for your videos, they were a HUGE help 🤙🏼 Question, I just painted my truck…but I decided to switch the color…can I just sand down to primer and just apply base? Or do I need to re-prime the vehicle? Thanks man.
You can just wet sand the paint with like 400-600 grit and paint over that. Myself, I would wet sand the flat areas with a DA or hand then scuff the rest with the red pad and paint. Let me know how it goes for you AR :)
hey everyone, where i can buy this abrasive rack??? i have dust extractor and this work station, but cant find this abrasive rack which it in the top of work station, plz help. thanks
Jerry why you wearing a mask lol that’s funny the master automatically put a mask ! He’s like I don’t trust this dust machine 😊 that’s what I Am taking about safety first. I love safety videos
Believe it or not I never wore a mask while doing body work - only painting. Now I'm a bit more careful. It was always too hot in the summer to even think about wearing a dust mask 💯🔥
@@LakesideAutobody yeah I get it . That was funny Jerry your demonstrating dust less machine and you’re wearing a mask 😷 . There’s no videos out there that talk about safety in AUTOBODY. It is necessary for these young cats to understand they can drive there. Bad ass rides with three fingers. It will be pretty hard . They have to get used to being safe when working with power tools and chemicals. the mask on . I was just sanding lol with a mask . I used the painting mask for everything . And yes I have done it too not wearing my mask guilty as charged and forget the bad ass rides how you can drink, a beer and barbecue 🍖 ☝️😄🤘
Not really - I didn't see much dust coming form the work but 3M made me wear one for the review video. I guess that way you don't breath one speck of dust in :)
Wow! awesome video what a machine! When they say dust is the enemy man they not kidding!! Have a great weekend Jerry...you real have upped your game!!
Hey Moparnut - nice to hear from you my friend - hope everything is going well for you. Have a good weekend 🏈😊

Thanks SGS - It will help for sure :)
Cubitron II love it, only sandpaper I use
I can see a lot of advantages to this system. Thanks for the great review and demonstration!

Seems like a pretty neat system 👌

Thanks for sharing this amazing piece of technology Jerry. I can t imagine what it would be like to sand with no dust. 👌
You're welcome PSG - it was nice actually :)
I have the Midi and love it!

An interesting system. Are there other tools available? 👍
Yes - www.festoolusa.com/ Have a good weekend Tony 😊
Have you ever done a shop tour?
Here it is a couple years back - pretty much still the same - glad you asked 😊
Wow very nice jerry
Thank you 73 - hope everything is going well for you - I've been super busy - got to get over to your channel my friend :)
What is the cost? Pain to figure out
It is a paint to figure out. I think it's quite expensive. 3M sent it to me to do a review on it.
That thing looks like it belongs in an office, not in the garage. I’ll bet it beats hacking up dust bunnies though lol. Nice work!
Thanks Matthew - it does eat up some dust :)
I have yet to hear one bad thing about the cubitron paper👍
looks like about 2k$ investment, whats the expected lifespan? thanks for the video.
The way this thing is built, I think it would last as long as you take care of it. Keep the filters clean basically :)
3M = 3 times the money, its nice tho, that would pay for itself in a busy shop

So this is dust free but you are still wearing a mask. Is it not truly dust free and you still have to wear one or do you wear one just because?
3M made me wear it :) It's pretty much dust free but there still may be a particle floating around - I think it's a CYA thing on their end :)
I can’t see why a shop or serious DIYer wouldn’t make this investment
Jerry as taught me so much in the past few years. Really great instructor. He’s not critical and gives basic common sense advice .
So you still have to wear a mask with this system?
