Belle here using my partners laptop. I looooove your videos, just got into them and been watching them religiously every day. Got loads to say but will mainly comment on the inhaler today. You shouldn't be using that before or even during your exercise. Your daily preventer should mean that you don't need that blue salbutamol one which is not a preventer, it's a reliever. I have asthma, exercise for about 2 hours 4 times a week and don't even take that out of the house with me. I'm on a really high dose preventer Seretide 250 mg 2 puffs twice a day. Your comment in another video about donuts being inappropriate in the gym is very funny, I eat some form of cake after every workout. My bmi is good, don't worry. Both of us are really into fitness and also struggle with binge eating but you can't see it on our bodies as we balance it out enough with healthyish eating and lots of exercise.
The thing I really like about you(r channel) is that you articulate stuff I've been doing since embarking on my weight loss/fitness journey (105lbs down) but haven't conciously realised. So, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Have a great day. Again, thanks for the sense you bring.
I'm trying a low sugar diet at the moment and being a novice zwifter as well your videos are really helping. Thanks for taking the time to make and upload them for us all
Mark, Always find your videos motivating. Sat down to watch with my two triangles of toblerone, got in to the video like usual. Paused the video halfway through so I could get two more toblerone triangles and enjoyed the second half even though you are not helping my diet. I will try again tomorrow, keep up the good work.
In August 2020 I was 15st 8lb so decided to get fitter by getting on a bike as walking wasn't losing me any weight. First thing I did was cut out at least 75% of my sugar intake and up my activity. I'm now down to 13st 1lb and averaging 150-200 miles a week on the bike. Best thing I ever did. I haven't cut out sugar completely but no longer eat biscuits or chocolate but I have a desert spoon of golden syrup with my porridge and cake 2-3 times a week and I make all my own cakes so I know exactly how much sugar goes in or doesn't. Sugar is probably the biggest evil with weight because it's pretty much in everything. Keep up the good work with TH-cam, enjoying your channel.
24h Intermittent Fasting works well for me. I only eat breakfast after my fasted workout then eat nothing else. I love breakfast food, especially baked foods. Generally, I still watch my daily macros while doing this. With all being said YES I eat a huge breakfast. lol My favorite baking recipe as of late is an Apple, Cinnamon, Whey, Chocolate Chip Cake. It's 1192 calories 236 carbs (46g) from Truvia Zero Calorie [erythritol] passes through the body without being absorbed. So I basically ignore the 46g of carbs. 24g fat 60g protein 1589mg sodium 70g sugar. I'm sure people will probably want to know how to make it so I'll just leave this here. Preheat Oven to 350. Dry Ingredients: 1 1/2 cup Whey Protein Isolate (You could try and use Casein or other blends, but I've never tried with them),1-2 tbsp - Ground Cinnamon, 1/4 tsp - Baking Powder, 1/4 tsp - Baking Soda, 1/2 tsp - Salt, 1 cup - Flour of your choice, 1/4 cup Truvia/Stevia/Sugar (Whichever you prefer, if you're using packets it's generally about 23 packets.), Chocolate Chips (As many as you prefer). Wet Ingredients: 2 cup - Unsweetened Apple Sauce (You can shred real apples if you like, but make sure you have at least 1 cup of Unsweetened Apple Sauce), 1 - whole egg (beat the egg), 1 tbsp - melted butter. Mix everything together until the clumps are all gone. Then place your batter into an oven-safe tray/container. Wait 40-50 minutes and check periodically to make sure it's not burning etc. I generally like to check every 20 minutes and poke at it with a toothpick to make sure it's baked nicely. Once the cake is fully cooked pull it out and set it aside for 20-30 minutes then enjoy.
Great channel ! Im doing my first 2 ironmans dis year and very beginner in triathlon too. Looking forward to see your journey ! And great video about bike ! Got same Cervelo - U made a great choice ! Good luck bud 🤞🏽👊🏽
Cracking video. I've done a few fully zero sugar crash diets to shed fat rapidly. As you say, read labels and don't do it for too long before u slowly reintroduce sugars and yes the cravings disappear, the mood changes balance out and life isn't so bad.
Hi Mark. This is a goldmine of experience. The low sugar inflammatory effect & it's effect on recovery is highly underrated, as well as training the body to burn fat for fuel. Thx. Btw there is research that suggest Collagen is best taken on it's own (no other protein) with a little Vit-c 30min prior to a workout. What made you decide to take it with your bedtime snack?
I found that low intensity, long effort sessions were fine with stuff like nuts.... I also found that, as long as it was not too intense, I could just plod along without needing much fuel. I did a couple of six hour ultramarathons on cashews and water and felt great! The problem came when I was doing higher intensity stuff where it was just not sufficient and I would either have to make sure I had carbs in the evening before so I had good glycogen stores on the day (which still kept me in keto) or, just gave in and took regular carbs.
Im 198cm tall and aprox 120kg. planning to lose 20kg. Used the 14days since new years to get back into ketosis. Since all gym is closed in Noway my training is Zwift and cross county skiing. Feel like im lacking some energi some days in my harder work out. im guessing thats due to the strict keto diet. Planning maybe to start with some targeting keto or adding my carbs before hard work out. any tips? Did you use keto when you lost most of your weight? Once again, great content.
@@MarkLewisfitness thanks. I will try adding some carbs in the evening. What type of carbs do you use and how late? Do you practise intermittent fasting as well?
You can have carbs on Keto and stay in ketosis, particularly if you do cardio you know! The body is never strictly in glycolysis or Ketosis, it's not an on off switch as many believe. Experiment with adding 50g's of carbs pre workout, everyone is different of course. Worked for me, I'd still light up the ketone test sticks after.
Abstaining from sugary products for even a few days makes you realise how stupidly sweet cookies and candy really are. I'm currently restricting myself to a max of one sugary thing a day. Zero is fine and I hate donuts anyway😂.
Interesting as I’ve got sports induced asthma and never considered the sugar aspect ... have been looking into Airofit ! Mark you being a tech man have you heard of this or know anyone who has ?? 🤷♂️ Do love Greek yoghurt 😋

Calories in and out aren't correct if they are empty calories, if you know anything about nutrition you would know people need certain vitamins to create energy, use oxygen.
Cico is completely correct for weight loss. Nutrition is different, you should hit your macros with a balanced group of foods for your nutrients and micronutrients.
Great video as always. I'll be doing something similar once the month of (very tasty) veganism is over. Important question... Why have you bought a tacx turbo trainer? Are you second wave, second hand impulse exercise equipment purchasing again?
Right about now, Chris might be wishing he ate and trained like The Rock 😂 Would certainly help fighting off the Fresh Prince 😂💪
you tried rowing like steve redgrave, running like kipchoge, eating like chris rock. now try slapping like will smith

Watching this whilst looking at my stash of Christmas chocolate is quite the dilemma 😂

If there are that many personal benefits to a low sugar diet how did you end up back on a more sugary diet?
Because sugar is nice
