Love that you recognise Loleatta Holloway in a couple of your videos - what a voice! She was also famously sampled on Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch, Good Vibrations 😀
@ I enjoy them, especially when I pull records I haven’t listened to in awhile. So I play them. Thanks for jumping in this, but you didn’t ask the questions for each album to answer with. Fook it 🤠
Cheers Bobby! Those 89’s Grace Jones albums are fab. I’ve now hit an excuse to spin Slave To The Rhythm later. Always nice to go back to great albums that you haven’t heard for a long time 👍
Hi John, never realised Dylan quit the harry rags before Nashville Skyline. It has a mellower sound than John Wesley Harding, but I don’t think the songs are as strong. I’d give the whack a mole a go, but my records are kind of dotted around my room in different locations. I’d imagine it’s harder than it looks too. Great video, Jack
Great video, John! Love the David McCallum pull. Also find Axelrod’s work with The Electric Prunes intriguing though, like Nashville Skyline, the albums need to be longer. All the best for 2025, cheers! 🙏
love Grace Jones her early Islands records are also fun Portfolio, Fame , Muse the later period was fun also . her Capitol years were ok but the last lp she Hurricane is great.
"I do these videos kneeling down" Blimey! Nice work! The Diskery - hasn't that closed down now? Looked empty when I drove past a few weeks ago. I like Mazzy's questions - very creative. Shame he didn't list them afterwards, as I'm probably going to do it. I love that Grace Jones album. She was amazing, and like you suggest, her cover versions were often outstanding.
Hi David. The Diskery is still going, it’s just moved to a different building just around the corner. I’ve always fancied doing a Whack-A-Mole but have never got round to it before, probably because it meant that I had to stand up! Mazzy’s questions were certainly a bit of a test. I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with 👍
@ Good to know about The Diskery. I go into Birmingham so rarely now, I'm out of touch. I'll have a trip in this month though. Given I've well-dodgy knees now, every time I see footballers do the knee slide I wince. I'm now going to be wincing when I see your videos. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to your review of the best available knee pads from B&Q. 😃
You can never go wrong with Grace Jones. I love the 12” version of Slave to the Rhytm. It just sounds amazing! Loleatta Holloway is fantastic. Cry to Me is superb. Great whack a mole John! Cheers.
Kneeling this whole time? Is that a British thing? Just in case the king accidentally walks into the room? Yeah, that scans. I'm glad my forefathers fought a war so we wouldn't have to kneel in VC videos. My real question now is why does Mazzy always take half an hour to do this? Hmm. Well done.
😂 I do the videos kneeling down as it helps me keep them brief. I started doing them sitting down but found that I waffled on so much that I was boring myself!
I’m been watching for years John, but the kneeling reveal deserved a comment! 👏👏👏
😂😂😂

@@JH-oq4yh Oh yeah. I forgot about the Marky Mark tune! Cheers. John
"2525" I really didn't expect anyone to attempt this feat. Well done. Cheers!
@@mazzysmusic I figured that everyone should attempt a Whack-A-Mole at least once. Never again….

@@mazzysmusic Yeah, I chose to pass on the incredibly obscure questions 😀. The Whack-A-Mole was hard enough….
Hi John, a good attempt at the Whack-A-Mole. I never realised you were kneeling; I thought you had tall shelving units.
Mind Blown 🤯
I never twigged you were kneeling down 😂
It’s the pain in the knees that keeps the mind sharp 😀
@ I sit cross legged but it’s getting harder to get back up !

Great job with your Whack-A-Mole. Fun. David was in The Man From Uncle. Love that Grace Jones album! Well done man! Cheers

Hi Jack. Give it a go. Mazzy makes it look easy but it’s harder than it looks 👍😀

Hey IOP! Happy New Year! I don’t think David Axelrod put a foot wrong with any of his productions 👍👍
Luv it! Sharing records one might not so readily share. I like the r-a-n-g-e! This was fun and wasn't a time-suck! Gonna subscribe.
@@caseyflip Thanks, Casey! 👍👍

This is a good first effort, don't stop (you're now the Brummie Mazzy). Good stuff John.
@@skewiff11 Hang on a minute! The Brummie Mazzy - I ain’t having that!!! 😀
