A little FYI on Ball Jars. They were made by the Ball brothers of Muncie, Indiana. Also, they founded Ball State University in Muncie and one of the hospitals in town was called Ball Memorial. I attended this university in the early 70's. It was well know for training teachers (early on called Ball State Teacher's College). My mom went there when you only needed a 2 year degree to be an elementary teacher. Hope this info is of interest to you.
Truck Ruts To Road: I've had many driveway put in over the years, using road gravel. What I was shown early on is that if you lay down "Road Paper" first, it stops the gravel from getting lost in the mud and you use much less gravel. What we call Road Paper here in the Pacific Northwest is like an industrial size and weight Garden Fabric Cloth. It comes on huge rolls that get cut to length at our local Rock & Landscaping supply company. It's available here for 12 and 20' wide driveways and is strong enough for the Dump Truck to back over as they start the run to pour and spread gravel. The gravel gets "suspended" on top of the paper and locks in to make the drive, with out being lost over time in the soft ground. I just roll it out before the dump truck arrives and hold the corners and edges down with bricks or rocks, until the gravel gets dumped to hold it in place. It doubles as a weed barrier, so grass doesn't grow up through the gravel. 🙂

Hi Alex. The skate blades screw to the bottom of a figure skating boot. Boots and blades are sold separately when skaters get more serious about skating.
Those Velvet tobacco tins reminds me of the Prince Albert tobacco tins I always saw in the 1970's. There was a joke about the Prince Albert tins. Someone would call a store and they would ask if they had Prince Albert in the can and when the store owner would say yes they would say, " You better let him out before he suffocates"

Alex, when I saw you go through the box of yellow Pyrex, there was a vase that you showed. I didn't know if you knew about Stueben Ware from Corning. These were special pieces made by Corning. You might want to check that vase out and see if it is Stueben Ware. Those pieces can be worth a lot of money. I'm not saying that's what it is, but maybe check it out. I grew up in Corning, N.Y.
Greetings from switzerland, just amazing how creative each country is, and to see in canada you collect different things than you collect here in Switzerland. Just started in a Thriftstore where there people bring many things and also we clean houses of people who are deceased. And yes antiques are great... so I enjoy watching you / your family on the other side of the world
The small caliber scoop is really cool. If it was made during the war (in the trenches), even cooler. I could certainly see using it for scooping coffee grounds into my k cup for my daily coffee. Just the right size.
What is missing from the sled? It’s for transporting timber. In Norwegian it’s called ‘bukk og geit’ (buck and doe). This one seems to be a toy or a scale model.

I just read the article about the Kentucky farmer that unearthed 700 Gold & Silver Civi War era coins in his corn field . Amazing find. Edit: Historians speculate these coins could of been stashed there by Jesse James!

Talking about cookbooks. This gentlemen wife passed and she had over 2000 cookbooks. He passed them on to me and I was looking at a few and some of them are listed and sold for over 500 dollars. If I did ebay I would be wealthy. Lol. There are cook books from the 1800s
Ironic how the Needlework Magazines were dismissed (which were an Ooooo ooo in my book) but the Popular Mechanics magazines were a find 🤷♀️… those would have been kindling in my book 😏

Lot up the needlework mags! They sell. Also, separate out those Jurassic Park cups! All movies in the franchise sell, but anything from the original movie does way better. I sold a plastic jeep toy from the original movie for $125.00 US-plus they paid to have it shipped to Australia. I would only lot up the lesser know ones, like the music ones.

LOL I've always loved it, despite whatever value it may have, which is why she gifted it to me. 17:17 I think this is a sleeve garter for customising the length of a shirt sleeve. 🙂

I do love when you see weird pictures from books/magazines like the Big Boy BBQ book and go into deep pondering of what's going on in the pictures. Cracks me up, lol. I have been doing some thrifting recently. I love antique/vintage tools as well. I bought my first thrift store toy, a Transformer. Thought it was a great find, and didn't look at it too well in the plastic bag. I spent 3.00 for a Starscream and opened the bag, and he's missing his wings and one cockpit window, lmao. Oops. My adult kids have a ton of Transformers, so they now have a Starscream for spare parts. It was fun though.

The "flex bracelet" is actually one sleeve garter. It would hold up extra sleeve length on a dress shirt. It would be pulled up around the bicep.

If your blades dull, you can buy net blades and replace the boot’s existing blades, that way you won’t have to break in new boots.

In NB this is called a bob sled. Wood logs or pieces sit on the top of the front and back sled parts.
