Nikolay Stoynov. I noticed a common similarity in people who usually harbor an intense hate for the United States it usually has to do alot with people not liking the US because they simply just don't like it. They try to hide behind fallacies and reasons but once you get past the 'reason' it turns out there is no reason and they just hate the US because they just want to.
First off, there are 666 comments and i hate to break the streak. Though, if there was a song to listen to that depicts The Gunslinger book, this is the song. Even the cover art is perfect for it.
Drew Kleinbach The Gunslinger had much more emotion and detail, (and he shot people) but yea that cover art is cherry. Sorry but I LOVE the Dark Tower series so I'm a bit of a heckler
For those of you that say that this band is rock, i would like to point out that it's not. It's heavy metal. Yes it was influenced by rock, but just because it doesn't use unclean vocals or isn't consisted of lots of double bass, doesn't make it rock. It's metal at its center.
Dude, i listen to iron maiden, megadeth, slayer, and anthrax. i've been looking for underground thrash metal bands to listen too. You can't say that volbeat isn't metal in some shape or form. I called it thrash because the song isn't like what you'd hear in a regular death metal, hardcore, metalcore, deathcore band or any other genre that uses unclean vocals, Because it doesn't. Saying volbeat is rock is like calling djent a genre.
i hear this song on the radio all the time, i gotta say this is an awesome track. and i traditionally dont like a lot of the music on the radio, but this one just impressed me in so many ways
Into our town the Hangman came, Smelling of gold and blood and flame. And he paced our bricks with a diffident air. And built his frame on the courthouse square. The scaffold stood by the courthouse side, Only as wide as the door was wide; A frame as tall, or little more, Than the capping sill of the courthouse door. And we wondered, whenever we had the time, Who the criminal, what the crime, That Hangman judged with the yellow twist, Of knotted hemp in his busy fist. And innocent though we were, with dread, We passed those eyes of buckshot lead; till one cried: "Hangman, who is he, For whom you raise the gallows-tree." Then a twinkle grew in the buckshot eye, And he gave us a riddle instead of reply: "He who serves me best," said he, "Shall earn the rope on the gallows-tree." And he stepped down, and laid his hand, On a man who came from another land, And we breathed again, for another's grief, At the Hangman's hand was our relief. And the gallows-frame on the courthouse lawn, By tomorrow's sun would be struck and gone. So we gave him way, and no one spoke, Out of respect for his hangman's cloak. The next day's sun looked mildly down, On roof and street in our quiet town, And, stark and black in the morning air, The gallows-tree on the courthouse square. And the Hangman stood at his usual stand, With the yellow hemp in his busy hand; With his buckshot eye and his jaw like a pike, And his air so knowing and businesslike. And we cried: "Hangman, have you not done, Yesterday, with the alien one?" Then we fell silent, and stood amazed: "Oh, not for him was the gallows raised." He laughed a laugh as he looked at us: "Did you think I'd gone to all this fuss, To hang one man? That's a thing I do, To stretch the rope when the rope is new." Then one cried, "Murderer!" One cried, "Shame!" And into our midst the Hangman came, To that man's place. "Do you hold," said he, "With him that was meant for the gallows-tree?" And he laid his hand on that one's arm, And we shrank back in quick alarm, And we gave him way, and no one spoke, Out of fear of his hangman's cloak. That night we saw with dread surprise, The Hangman's scaffold had grown in size. Fed by the blood beneath the chute, The gallows-tree had taken root; Now as wide, or a little more, Than the steps that led to the courthouse door, As tall as the writing, or nearly as tall, Halfway up on the courthouse wall. The third he took - we had all heard tell - Was a usurer and infidel, And: "What," said the Hangman, "have you, To do with the gallows-bound, and he a Jew?" And we cried out: "Is this one he, Who has served you well and faithfully?" The Hangman smiled: "It's a clever scheme, To try the strength of the gallows-beam." The fourth man's dark, accusing song, Had scratched out comfort hard and long; and "What concern," he gave us back, "Have you for the doomed - the doomed and black?" The fifth. The sixth. And we cried again: "Hangman, Hangman, is this the man?" It's a trick," he said, "that we hangmen know, For easing the trap when the trap springs slow." And so we ceased, and asked no more, As the Hangman tallied his bloody score; And sun by sun, and night by night, The gallows grew to monstrous height. The wings of the scaffold opened wide, Till they covered the square from side to side; And the monster cross-beam, looking down, Cast its shadow across the town. Then through the town the Hangman came, And called in the empty streets my name - and I looked at the gallows soaring tall, And thought: "There is no one left at all, For hanging, and so he calls to me, To help pull down the gallows-tree." And I went out with right good hope, To the Hangman's tree and the Hangman's rope. He smiled at me as I came down, To the courthouse square through the silent town, And supple and stretched in his busy hand, Was the yellow twist of the hempen strand. And he whistled his tune as he tried the trap, And it sprang down with a ready snap- And then with a smile of awful command, He laid his hand upon my hand. "You tricked me, Hangman!" I shouted then. "That your scaffold was built for other men. And I no henchman of yours," I cried, "You lied to me, Hangman, foully lied!" Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye: "Lied to you? Tricked you?" he said, "Not I. For I answered straight and I told you true: The scaffold was raised for none but you. "For who has served me more faithfully, Than you with your coward's hope?" said he, "And where are the others that might have stood, Side by your side in the common good?" "Dead," I whispered; and amiably "Murdered," the Hangman corrected me; "First the alien, then the Jew... I did no more than you let me do." Beneath the beam that blocked the sky, None had stood so alone as I - And the Hangman strapped me, and no voice there, Cried "Stay" for me in the empty square.
Anyone else here play Saints Row 2? If you have, please vouch for me that this song fits perfectly to Maero's boss fight. Man, if only this song and that game came out in the same year. This song is complete 100% kickass!
Holy molly KATT 100.5 is still playing rock? I remember this station when I was stationed at Fort Sill back in 1983!!!! Glad to hear they are still going strong!!!
When I first heard this I was REALLY tired and thought he said "Put on the robe, you know your date is coming. See your players once more. You park the bang van's party"
do you like VAN HALEN?I believe they are dutch/Danish,moved to America in the 60,s helped change hard rock/ metal or at least mold it into the new form of party rock/anthem music that absolutely took over after DISCO finally died a long overdue death, just like ozzy and dee snider both wrote,YOU CANT KILL ROCK AND ROLL,ITS HERE TO STAY,peace and love to your family brother.
My boyfriend listens to this song all the time working on a garbage truck he says this song turns him into Superman along with warriors call and still counting.
The Whiteheart I remember a question on a NYS math state test concerning ratios which said something like; "How would you measure how much music a radio station plays?" I chose "Minutes per hour" The correct answer, my teacher said, was "Songs per hour". I should've called her out >_
when I first heard this on the radio I didn't catch who the band was. took me forever to find out cause they didn't play it for awhile. now I'm hooked they are awesome live.

This band is the future of rock music...so glad to see someone show all those crappy modern rock bands how it's supposed to be done.

They try to hide behind fallacies and reasons but once you get past the 'reason' it turns out there is no reason and they just hate the US because they just want to.
This song with black bart are the best songs on this album.
All hail volbeat
This song just pulls you in. Love his voice!

Volbeat is a very hard hitting band love these guys
First off, there are 666 comments and i hate to break the streak. Though, if there was a song to listen to that depicts The Gunslinger book, this is the song. Even the cover art is perfect for it.
Drew Kleinbach The Gunslinger had much more emotion and detail, (and he shot people) but yea that cover art is cherry. Sorry but I LOVE the Dark Tower series so I'm a bit of a heckler
John B say thankya
Ryan McCloskey long days and many nights to you
John B ū
Wait, sense you made the 667th comment, does that make you Christian?
this song only strengthens the quote "life would be a mistake without music"
For those of you that say that this band is rock, i would like to point out that it's not. It's heavy metal. Yes it was influenced by rock, but just because it doesn't use unclean vocals or isn't consisted of lots of double bass, doesn't make it rock. It's metal at its center.
sha-d paul Lol. It isn't even close to thrash. Are you stupid? Go look up real thrash. This is nowhere close to that.
Saying volbeat is rock is like calling djent a genre.
sha-d paul Yeah its not rock, that's for sure, but i wouldn't say thrash, its just classic heavy metal.
Volbeat is awesome. Thats its genre
They are kinda a mix between maiden and testament
i hear this song on the radio all the time, i gotta say this is an awesome track. and i traditionally dont like a lot of the music on the radio, but this one just impressed me in so many ways
There's 47 people who have a horrible taste in music. Shame. These guys rock!
Poor souls were just too high strung
Now 320 who do not know what real rock sounds like!!
321 😑
325
340.... :'(
Every time I worry about the demise of Rock.Bands like VolBeat, give me Hope.
Into our town the Hangman came,
Smelling of gold and blood and flame.
And he paced our bricks with a diffident air.
And built his frame on the courthouse square.
The scaffold stood by the courthouse side,
Only as wide as the door was wide;
A frame as tall, or little more,
Than the capping sill of the courthouse door.
And we wondered, whenever we had the time,
Who the criminal, what the crime,
That Hangman judged with the yellow twist,
Of knotted hemp in his busy fist.
And innocent though we were, with dread,
We passed those eyes of buckshot lead; till one cried: "Hangman, who is he,
For whom you raise the gallows-tree."
Then a twinkle grew in the buckshot eye,
And he gave us a riddle instead of reply:
"He who serves me best," said he,
"Shall earn the rope on the gallows-tree."
And he stepped down, and laid his hand,
On a man who came from another land,
And we breathed again, for another's grief,
At the Hangman's hand was our relief.
And the gallows-frame on the courthouse lawn,
By tomorrow's sun would be struck and gone.
So we gave him way, and no one spoke,
Out of respect for his hangman's cloak.
The next day's sun looked mildly down,
On roof and street in our quiet town,
And, stark and black in the morning air,
The gallows-tree on the courthouse square.
And the Hangman stood at his usual stand,
With the yellow hemp in his busy hand;
With his buckshot eye and his jaw like a pike,
And his air so knowing and businesslike.
And we cried: "Hangman, have you not done,
Yesterday, with the alien one?"
Then we fell silent, and stood amazed:
"Oh, not for him was the gallows raised."
He laughed a laugh as he looked at us:
"Did you think I'd gone to all this fuss,
To hang one man? That's a thing I do,
To stretch the rope when the rope is new."
Then one cried, "Murderer!" One cried, "Shame!"
And into our midst the Hangman came,
To that man's place. "Do you hold," said he,
"With him that was meant for the gallows-tree?"
And he laid his hand on that one's arm,
And we shrank back in quick alarm,
And we gave him way, and no one spoke,
Out of fear of his hangman's cloak.
That night we saw with dread surprise,
The Hangman's scaffold had grown in size.
Fed by the blood beneath the chute,
The gallows-tree had taken root;
Now as wide, or a little more,
Than the steps that led to the courthouse door,
As tall as the writing, or nearly as tall,
Halfway up on the courthouse wall.
The third he took - we had all heard tell -
Was a usurer and infidel,
And: "What," said the Hangman, "have you,
To do with the gallows-bound, and he a Jew?"
And we cried out: "Is this one he,
Who has served you well and faithfully?"
The Hangman smiled: "It's a clever scheme,
To try the strength of the gallows-beam."
The fourth man's dark, accusing song,
Had scratched out comfort hard and long;
and "What concern," he gave us back,
"Have you for the doomed - the doomed and black?"
The fifth. The sixth. And we cried again:
"Hangman, Hangman, is this the man?"
It's a trick," he said, "that we hangmen know,
For easing the trap when the trap springs slow."
And so we ceased, and asked no more,
As the Hangman tallied his bloody score;
And sun by sun, and night by night,
The gallows grew to monstrous height.
The wings of the scaffold opened wide,
Till they covered the square from side to side;
And the monster cross-beam, looking down,
Cast its shadow across the town.
Then through the town the Hangman came,
And called in the empty streets my name
- and I looked at the gallows soaring tall,
And thought: "There is no one left at all,
For hanging, and so he calls to me,
To help pull down the gallows-tree."
And I went out with right good hope,
To the Hangman's tree and the Hangman's rope.
He smiled at me as I came down,
To the courthouse square through the silent town,
And supple and stretched in his busy hand,
Was the yellow twist of the hempen strand.
And he whistled his tune as he tried the trap,
And it sprang down with a ready snap-
And then with a smile of awful command,
He laid his hand upon my hand.
"You tricked me, Hangman!" I shouted then.
"That your scaffold was built for other men.
And I no henchman of yours," I cried,
"You lied to me, Hangman, foully lied!"
Then a twinkle grew in his buckshot eye:
"Lied to you? Tricked you?" he said, "Not I.
For I answered straight and I told you true:
The scaffold was raised for none but you.
"For who has served me more faithfully,
Than you with your coward's hope?" said he,
"And where are the others that might have stood,
Side by your side in the common good?"
"Dead," I whispered; and amiably
"Murdered," the Hangman corrected me;
"First the alien, then the Jew...
I did no more than you let me do."
Beneath the beam that blocked the sky,
None had stood so alone as I -
And the Hangman strapped me, and no voice there,
Cried "Stay" for me in the empty square.
Whats this from?
@@psychobeam99 it's from the poem, The Hangman, by Maurice Ogden.
@@Rickzilla Nice.
@@psychobeam99 I would associate this song with the poem since they both talk about The Hangman lynching people at the gallows.
Good read, thanks for taking the time to share
I saw Volbeat in California...awesome.
It's like Metallica and Elvis... I dig it
Mj Moore Sounds more like Iron Maiden thrown into the mix to me, maybe it's because my ma listened to Elvis incessantly.
hell yeah, they could call themselves, elvtallica or maybe metallelvis,ha ha.
Metallica and Elvis had a baby then that baby was raised by Johnny Cash
Yees it iss 🤘👌
i actually live in Rio Rico about an hour south of tucson, but KFMA comes in almost everywhere in my town. i love them
Anyone else here play Saints Row 2? If you have, please vouch for me that this song fits perfectly to Maero's boss fight. Man, if only this song and that game came out in the same year. This song is complete 100% kickass!

My fav song by this band. That verse riff and melody is just perfection!
When I first heard this I was REALLY tired and thought he said "Put on the robe, you know your date is coming. See your players once more. You park the bang van's party"
Cool bre
You sure you weren't high asf?
Sounds like a parody to me
Put on the rope. You knew the day was coming!

Reminds me of old Ozzy with Randy..
Anyone still here blasting this song down the highway
in my opinion one of the only danish artist/band that are actually good and im a Dane lol
do you like VAN HALEN?I believe they are dutch/Danish,moved to America in the 60,s helped change hard rock/ metal or at least mold it into the new form of party rock/anthem music that absolutely took over after DISCO finally died a long overdue death, just like ozzy and dee snider both wrote,YOU CANT KILL ROCK AND ROLL,ITS HERE TO STAY,peace and love to your family brother.
CHINGONA ROLA. SALUDOS DESDE CD JUÁREZ CHIHUAHUA MÉXICO. LA FRONTERA MÁS FABULOSA Y CHINGONA DEL MUNDO. VOLBEAT🤟🤟😎

Awesome station. Used to listen to it when I lived in Shawnee.
this should be on the RDR2 soundtrack
Agreed. But they wanted to keep everything, including the music, aesthetic to the time period.
my favorite Volbeat song
Somebody just traded me a Mudkip for this band via reddit
My boyfriend listens to this song all the time working on a garbage truck he says this song turns him into Superman along with warriors call and still counting.
why is over half the beginning missing??
i was wondering the same thing, the song is a shortened form of the original album version
Tim Dudgeon
it's the radio edit version :)
MrMetallica555 Radio can't handle so much epicness?
481216Dragon I'm guessing it's all to do with timings and keeping the song short to make room for more songs xD
Actually, a Djinn, by the definition in Islam, were beings formed of smokeless fire, before mankind. They were to act as guardians, but rebelled not long after Lucifer and his kind.
