He's right. I may be in a smaller gaming community that's kinda off the radar from 99% of YT, but once my videos started taking off and I built a genuine following in the community, all of a sudden the bigger names in the space finally wanted something to do with me... but ONLY when I was killing it and my views were at their peak at the time. One incident that I can't ever forget is one guy, whom I've known for years through old forums, never really gave me the time of day when I just wanted to be friends and chill or whatever, back when I was essentially a nobody at the time. But all of a sudden, after my channel broke the 15k sub mark, he hit me up in DMs about some collaborative community project he was making and asked me to promote it. Interesting how the only time he wanted anything to do with me (and act like we're all cool) is to use my growing popularity to bring attention to his project. Funny thing is, I still promoted it anyway like an idiot, and I didn't even get a "thank you" after (though in a satisfying twist of karma, he didn't receive any sort of growth or attention from my promotion. I think almost all of my followers ignored it, lmao). Learned my damn lesson after that. Nowadays, I've "fallen off" and I've yet to hear from any of these people on just normal speaking terms. Most creators are indeed leeches. Never trust them unless you're damn sure they're genuine. I just don't talk to anyone anymore in that community and just stay in my corner doing my own thing. If you want a good friendship, don't look for it in fellow creators or other leeches who just see your numbers.
It’s crazy cuz it’s not even just contente creating bro. This whole clout shit has taken over real life. I swear when I was in school everyone had all these connections and cool friends but now everyone graduated people hardly give a damn about each other. It’s funny because actually saw this guy that went to my school that started doing music, and he posted one of his songs on instagram. That shit had 0 likes. For weeks. 0. Then all of a sudden someone reposted a song of his on a decently popular page, and all of a sudden everyone’s reposting him, people from the school are shouting him out, it’s wild. It’s not just content bro, it’s deeper than that, people want to leach off you irl too. They want to see what career you’re going to take or what job you’re gonna do “hmm he’s starting to make $50 and hour, I think I’ll go ahead and start talking to him” “hmmm what’s his career path, I’ll go ahead and stick around him and find out”
This is too real. I saw something similar that happened when a high school friend of mine started doing film. No one cared until they saw his film in my city’s film fest and it got a ton of attention. Everyone wanted to be his best friend and or a side character in his next project. Film was only his hobby so when he “fell off” they didn’t talk to him much after. It’s a shame because he’s a dope dude outside of it all.
I’ve BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS.. seems today people only love you for what you DO for a living or how much money or fame you’re gaining ! Their is no love for truly good people anymore they don’t care about god anymore u can be the most evilest person but if you have the career or fame people will ignore the evilness just to try to get a piece of the money and fame lol
An important message. It’s safer to assume they are all fake and lying unless you have compelling evidence. Content creators are entertainers, which inherently means they are curators of the parts they show you. Like salesmen. It’s all about the money, fame, influence, and self interest. People are all capable of the greatest evils and greatest goods. Having subscribers, money, and views means absolutely fuck all. Examine the evidence of their behavior.
Maybe this is why my content will never get popular because I just make videos as a hobby. If anyone will watch my content that is enough for me. Perhaps my content is just bland or not good.
Bro when you a content creator you should see everyone else in the same field as coworkers or competitors... Work a job, yo coworkers ain't nothing besides coworkers, same shit with anything in business
This video is actual facts man, that's the reason I stopped doing TH-cam when my vids went viral, I started joining the discord channels of all these youtubers, tried connecting with youtubers and it all just felt so fake, everybody cares about views and subs, they look at you not as a potential friend but as a number, "oh yeah, this guy? 100K subs?! I should talk to him" I also felt this the other way around, at my peak I would dm and befriend very small youtubers who I thought just had genuinely good content, and I'd hear things like "no way you're dming me dude you have 40k subs!!" constantly, yeah... This really messed with my motivation to keep doing youtube and since then I stopped
not sure if it's only in Australia, but there's this petition going around for kids under the age of 13-14 to not have social media. I know this isn't related but me personally I think this is fantastic!! this "brain rot" has gotten so bad that my college made a fking banned word list, an example is not being able to say skibidi or sigme. How sad is this..
While policies are of course good, we need these social media companies to be held accountable for the damage they do. There is value in social media when you use it to spread things like educational content and news, but sometimes the content can be harmful, especially on younger minds.
but skibidi toilet was only introduced at most 3 years ago ( i cant remember when and i cant be bothered to check), your fellow college students would have brain rot even if the petition passed. Meaning that the law is not really useful and just delaying the inevitable brain rot content

Not even just content creators. This is how adults act in general. It's a cruel world. Brass up, it'll be over when we die. Have fun with the shit don't let it get to you
Hi Siah, I've been a content creator for a lot longer than you and I'm a bit older than you as well. What you're saying is spot on and unfortunately that's just how it is with people. It's not exclusive to content creators and it's even common in other industries like the acting industry or politics. While it does seem more common in these industries with these "social dynamics," I would say it's more of a societal thing because it is pretty common outside of these industries. I would say it's mostly a result of people having poor values. It won't change. I understand where you're coming from though because there was a time when I was genuinely trying to make connections with other creators but it's like you said, they only keep up the facade as long as you're doing well and/or as long as they feel like keeping the relationship going will benefit them. I learned all of this the hard way. It's really messed up.. It's so easy to develop trust issues and mental problems as a result of constantly being around people like this and in this type of environment. We live in this era of social media which has such a big impact on mental health and content creators being this way isn't doing anyone any favors. It can actually give people kind of give people a false sense of security and can put them in danger. If you're friends with someone for instance and something seems off with them, you would likely reach out and check on them/make sure they're alright but what happens when it's the other way around and you need someone to check up on you but no one reaches out to you because it turns out all your friends are this kind of way? It's not a nice position to be in and it can lead to bad things. Sometimes we're in tough situations where we need a little help and that's one of the worst times to have the realization that your "friends" aren't really your friends or someone you can count on. All I can say is if/when you find someone that is real and genuine, make the effort to at least reciprocate and don't take them for granted. You won't find people like that too often. I'm not sure why this video showed up on my homepage, it was the very first one. Maybe God put it there for a reason. Feel free to message me if you like. God bless.
Fame is dangerous bro, people will do almost anything for notoriety, or if you don’t benefit them they’ll leave you in the dust, or mooch off your name. I do also mooch off of peoples names, especially big streamers and I can admit I’m at fault for that. But I do it to grow fast, especially when I’m streaming on YT it’s hard. I don’t want to make excuses for myself, I just have to find a way to make a name for my self instead of mooching off of names.
Stop the mooching cause karma is real, you are stacking up negative karmic energy debt, why do you think Asians on TH-cam don't really participate in the mooching trend.
thats why the majority of my time on TH-cam is watching older videos like 2012- 2018, people were enjoying what they were doing more than just trying to get a paycheck dont really watch Twitch cause majority of them just chasing numbers
Exactly. Everything is too sanitized, milquetoast, and every big creator has little to no personality or quirks that make them identifiable except for a few exceptions. Looking for new fresh creators is also hard as fuck.
@@sunnyd4038Not to mention too saturated, melodramatic, and as you said perfectly sanitized and false. hate to break it to you but 2012-2018 TH-cam was toxic as well. 2017 was unbelievably toxic. everyone on YT wanted to leech off Tana, Trisha, and Jake Paul.
ik how you feel Siah, I hate these fake, crocodile, back stabbin pieces of sht. It's everyone in general society too. I was at camp and I was only there to hang out with a couple of my friends. But then people start meat slobbing and lying abt how they would miss everyone, and it was just so fake that I had to leave. Someone thanked me for being genuine and real. We all need to work on ourselves.
Over these past few years, I've had to learn to properly cherish every single genuine connection that I have made with others. People that care, are getting rarer by the day.
I miss when creators were trying make their content as great and unique as possible, but now in a lot of cases we see stuff as uncreative as this 14:57 Hopefully in the future we return to people making videos and streaming things they really enjoy, rather than whatever is currently going on in the content creation space😭
I'm not gonna lie this is the first time I have ever heard him speak like a normal guy. Im used to seeing and hearing this man's cheeks clapped in his other channel 💀
As a new content creator myself, Siah is speaking facts. Content creation isn’t authentic anymore because people create a new low just for views. It’s sad. It’s rare to get organic connections.
As someone who works in the industry and in content creation this is literally facts. It’s gross and makes me hyper vigilant on who I can truly become friends with in this space 😭.
There's a difference between "influencers." And "content creators." Most of the content i come across now is click bait bullshit and I remembered a time on the Internet where people couldn't stand that kind of behavior. Idk, just some weird times we're in rn
I remember when ice spice blew up. There were so many blue check marks in her comments talking about "yasss bestie". Like the girl just came out, how tf u know her? lol
I 100% agree because everything that Siah is saying can be applied in multiple different ways not just content creating and also because I’m a highschooler and I was dealing with someone who was really only rocking with me because of kinda like my social status and stuff like that, but when I started to like kind of stagnate, there were nowhere to be found
its crazy how kanel and bruce talked about this and everybody thought they was crazy but hey i watch alot more smaller creators with like near 100k subs and they feel genuine and dont chase trends for vids and build up their fanbase organically its pretty crazy to think about
It makes sense if they don’t know you, to not talk to you if you’re “irrelevant”. People stay among their social type/class but if they drop you AFTER you fell off and they know you then that’s when you know they’re fake
I work in the exotic animal breeding and sales industry and it’s exactly like this. You said the root of the issue within the sentence. It's an industry. Industries will always end up in the shape of a pyramid. This is why things feel so genuine and organic in the Inception of a new hobby, and the further away from that Inception you go, the more competitive and soul-less it becomes.

Siah bruh this channel is gold!! I feel you on this topic especially because i think in general thats what really gets me from making videos. I can't bring myself to be a fake version on youtube. Thats why i think ill always be a smaller channel cause i cant just be something im not.
Coming back to this video, I realized there's only a small number of content creators I could shock with my knowledge of their early work. JacksFilms wouldn't believe what I remember 🤣
I feel sad about this bc as an artist i try to be friends with other artists i truly think are so cool and want to work with. But i know comes off like im tryna leech but im not. The only issue i have with these rants is not that your wrong but there's sometimes where you will get overzealous and throw shots at people that don't necessarily deserve it. The same "dumb ass gullible kids" getting tricked by clickbait titles make up a lot of your audience too bro. As your audience, whether you meant it towards us or not that's how it feels when you say umbrella terms like that and consequently it discourages us from watching. I enjoy your original content too bro you got the gift of making people laugh, use it the best you can.
nah hes 100% right most big or fast growing content creators dont care about the craft or uplifting everybody else its just if you have motion you are cool if you dont you are not worth their attention
This is the exact reason I really don’t f with anyone honestly. I know everyone aren’t that way but majority of people just are unfortunately. Family, “so called” friends and all.
The funny part is if you make a video like this.... those same fake af people will try to blacklist you behind the scenes. I respect people who make videos like this. I'm tired of this two-faced generation.
I streamer I watch once told the story about how after she got partner on Twitch, she suddenly was getting DMs from people who wouldn't pay her no mind before. As if that little checkmark suddenly made her worth that time. I think about that a lot and remember how opportunistic some people are.
I've been saying this and realized it too: if you want to record, everything you do 'off-camera' should be done 'on-camera' as well. No fake stuff. Just unadulterated and authentic
@@Ynkian I get where you're coming from brodie. but I believe there's a unique value in authenticity. It’s not about everything being entertaining all the time; it’s about being real and relatable. This shit lowkey sucks as somebody who actually enjoys the content regardless of view count. I was able to sorta deduce which content creators or types of content creators ur talking about and I feel you man. Keep up the talk content!
As a person who wants to get into animation and share what I love, it really does suck that we life in a time where people are only chasing trends and doing whatever gets subs and views (even if it’s at the cost of doing some horrible/stupid stuff) rather than doing what you like, sharing it with everyone else and in return gaining some of that respect and love that any content creator would want. TH-cam and entertainment as a whole really needs to go back to being authentic, creative, and just being fun again.

I’ve been saying this for years. Preach 🔥 I met 2 or 3 real folks out there but everyone else was trying to leech off my buzz. At the end of the day, you just gotta have fun with the content you make despite the views.
To be honest, a streamer can be themselves and that’s one layer. But the second layer is that your “character” is the person that the internet at large judges. Most aren’t fake, it’s because they understand it’s all a game. Every interaction is purely content. And you’re right, it’s not about the content because the content is just to make money. Nobody streams to not make money. It’s like WWE when you really understand it. Like sure you could be yourself, but you aren’t really gonna recognized unless you’re over the top with it. And you’re basically shunting your ownself, to not play the character. Look at all the big steamer groups/streamers. They want to see what career you’re going to take or what job you’re gonna do “hmm he’s starting to make $50 and hour, I think I’ll go ahead and start talking to him” “hmmm what’s his career path, I’ll go ahead and stick around him and find out”
Them last 3 sentences is the cold hardest truth

100K subs?! I should talk to him"
I also felt this the other way around, at my peak I would dm and befriend very small youtubers who I thought just had genuinely good content, and I'd hear things like "no way you're dming me dude you have 40k subs!!" constantly, yeah...

How sad is this..
If collage kids are saying skibidi or sigma then we are fucked
While policies are of course good, we need these social media companies to be held accountable for the damage they do. There is value in social media when you use it to spread things like educational content and news, but sometimes the content can be harmful, especially on younger minds.

God bless.
Who tf are you
Siah Speaks, and I listen.
