Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), sometimes auto sensory meridian response, is a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. A pleasant form of paresthesia, it has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia and may overlap with frisson.
ASMR signifies the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control.

You could probs just do this in post by putting a blurred filter on the video and unblurring while a lens is over the camera. Defo not necessary though. The videos are amazing as they are :)

once i actually dozed off when the optometrist was doing this test because it was taking wayyy longer than usual and the optometrist got this worried, confused face when examining my eyes. i was literally was nodding off on the chair. after a few more minutes it turned out that my eyes are strained and my pupils can't shrink at light 🗿💀
but it's okay now, cus they made me do some eye exercises so if it happened again, i'll know what to do

I’ve always had medical ASMR. Dentist, GP, optician. It’s so amazing.
One of the opticians I saw a couple of tests ago kept asking "are you sure?" after EVERY answer.

I always used to get tingles at my eye examinations when I was a kid. This was a healthy dose of nostalgia, as the opticians I go to now use machines instead of manually inserting the lenses. Really well done video.
It’s a bit of a shame imo. I always work this ‘manual’ way with the trial frames.

Same here! Before i discovered this was known as ASMR, I loved going to see the optometrist, and i never found out why until couple of years ago lol. Wonder if it is because the exam room is dark, and doc speaks gently and the sounds of the instruments clicking etc. Lol
One time I got really tired and nearly fell asleep-
I thought my eye doctor was the only one who talked like this!
Doctor (in soft, calm voice): "Better? (clicking sound as she changes lenses) And this one? (click) And now? (click) And this one? (click)."
Me (voice totally filling the room and disturbing the zen): "this one. Yeah. No, wait, the last one. Um, no, maybe..could you do the last one again?"

I think he is an optometrist, which is not an eye doctor but someone who can prescribe glasses or contact lenses, as well as examine the eyes for signs of disease. An eye doctor is someone who can treat disease with medication or surgery.
