- Southside Tribe, what's good?! This week we are toning things down a bit, but the word is no less potent! We're sharing a bonus episode with you, and a very transparent and intimate one at that! We move from discussing the good theology of Job's friends, to the age-old question, "How do I actually know and feel that God loves me?", to emotional intelligence in the Church and in this world full of hardship. Y'all pull up and get comfortable!

First time listener and I’m so thankful that I clicked. Such authenticity is so refreshingly rare and necessary.
So good man
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾I recently finished the book of Job and had no one to discuss it with. It was SO eye opening!!! I was convinced his friends were right because Job was TRIPPING when discussing God. I kept praying that the Holy Spirit would reveal the truth to me because I could not extrapolate between Job's ambiguity of Gods agreement with Satan and his description of who God is during his moments of suffering. 🤯
I have found in my experiences, relative to Job, that some times in our righteousness, we can become self-righteousness. This can some times cause others around to judge us. We can think because we're so right, in our own eyes, that nothing can befall us. We can sacrifice, do right, assemble, or anything else that we might feel appropriate to be approved by the Father. But as men, there's a greater sight we must gain. As Paul said, for the prize of the High calling of God, which is Christ, Jesus. We can never get comfortable in our righteousness, there's always a greater place for us to be. Don't blame Job, his wife, nor his, friends, they were all doing the best they knew how. For we know all things work together for the good of them that Love God and are The called according to His purpose. HalleluYah.
Love you brother man! Needed this wisdom. Good bless!
Leadership does not equal playing a role. It is being the first to admit fear and having no idea what's going on thereby displaying a full dependence on the only one that does know what's going on. Trust in me as a leader is not trust that I have answers but trust that I'm clinging to God for dear life all the time. The call to leadership is the call to go public with your weakness pointing people to God...not for the faint of heart in a culture in love with make believe heroes that scoffs at humility.
Amen.
1:00 "one of the things that scare me is that in the book of job, all of job's friends thought that they were right. [What's scarier is that everything they said about God was true, but their timing of comfort was a metal blanket.]"
• Example 1: 2:50 - Elihu was right.
• Example 2: 5:49 - But he was wrong.
• Example 3: 9:10 - And got arrogant
11:25 Let's be real - God's visible signs of judgement is hard to discern.
• Example 1: 12:59 When do we know if he's taking it away for judgment or mercy?
• Example 2: 15:09 Let's remember these dudes knew a lot about the character of God, but even when they said all the right things they misapplied it. (Except immediate judgement) Justice, character, the way he restores the repentant were true, but they misapplied it to his situation. They missed where they should put the knowledge.

Such a great talk & study guys 🙏🏼
Amen amen amen.
Job’s friends were judging his circumstance instead of his deeds, and instead of walking with their brother through this trial, they were trying to help him “fix” it.
We see this often with the homeless communities in the west - how often do we hear people speak about how they “must have done something to deserve it” or how they “did it to themselves”
But how often do we walk with them and encourage them, not based on what we think they should do, but just to bear our brother’s burdens?
The reality is that we have no idea what they have or haven’t done in most cases, and moreover, who of us can discern God’s plan and intentions?
For not even a turtle dove flies without God’s hand holding it up.
You guys are full of the Holy Spirit. Thank God for these brothers.
This really points to the scripture our righteousness is as filthy rags.
A spirit of self-righteousness will drive us to accuse others and self. But a humble spirit will look to God for his righteousness. We can literally be preaching toward a point and not be preaching according to the SPIRIT. That’s so important for us to realize.
Keep up the great work guys!
This hit so deep especially at the end. I'll be honest, I've been leaning towards shutting others out of my life because of the betrayal, hurt and pain they have caused me. I don't want to get to a place of unfeeling but man is it hard to continuously put yourself in out there emotionally and just feel like you're constantly being trampled on. How do you still have an open heart but also set healthy boundaries to protect your emotional and mental health?
Thank you for joining the convo! Glad to be an encouragement. Keep an open heart prayerfully and carefully. Shutting down only leads to a different kind of pain.

@@workinabroad thank you, looking up now
Brothers!! This conversation on emotional intelligence is something I desparatley needed to hear, but had no idea I really needed it! Thank you for your faithfullness!
Discipline leads to devotion
This is beautiful
Ameen, I feel ya bro! Appreciate that transparency. I lean to that side of the spectrum too. An optimist trapped in a pessimists body. We read of God’s sufficient grace and His wrath. Honestly those scriptures of wrath get me shook sometimes.
I thank God for this ministry this has been one of the most helpful episodes for me I am a young man a pastor in training and this episode has clarified challenged and comforted me greatly praise God
I’m always blessed by each video y’all put out. KB you’re the reason I got into rap. And god used you a lot in my journey for preaching the Gospel. With that being said… PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE start doing more videos like this. The world needs to hear more of what happens when two brothers like y’all crack open the scriptures and spend time with it. Including myself. This is the most blessed I’ve been from this channel.
Great conversation
This conversation is so needed. Especially coming from two Black Men! Thank you brothers🙏🏽
I need an apparatus to heal, bruh. And healthy outlets. And cry some more and instead of ignoring emotions I have opportunities to raise my emotional intelligence. I'm not ashamed of tears, but that's half the story. There's also times it's not a good reason to cry. There's a time for weeping, but that ISN'T to control you.. sometimes you have to keep your composure to help us so we don't lose a team point.
50:09
We will have a space to let lose, but that ain't everytime. If you're completely led by your emotions, you will make bad decisions. They'll almost always put you in a place not optimal. Have a healthy relationship with your feelings. I'm irrivocably broken and good at playing it off. Everything has to come under authority of your character. I'm doing it because that's what I'm supposed to do. I'm not faking it. Don't turn the vulnerable among us to be a venting zone, but who you're acting as needs to be consist with who you are.
As I am listening to the beginning regarding Job's friends, I am brought to the story of the blindman and how they asked if he was blind because of the sins of his parents.
Always blessed when the drop happens. 😁
This entire experience is to teach us to find ourselves, our motives, our fervor and where our true faith lies. I love and respect the Father for His perfect Will. All our deeds, trust, behavior is to glorify the Father and Him alone. This aids us in having trust and faith in Him and some reliance on our relationships with others. It takes the trying from our Father for us to truly see whom we are and Whom He Is. Glory to His Mighty Name. Great discussion.
May the Father continue to prosper and reward you all, you and your families. All in the name of Jesus.
I always say Job 32 is like the guy starting off the cypher with a lot of "yo! I'm about to rip this. Check it, I said... Check this out. Ayo!" By the end of the chapter he still ain't said nothing
Appreciate y’all’s faithfulness to the Word of GOD. One point is that in Job 42, Elihu is NOT one of the ones GOD corrected. Rather, GOD only appears to have rebuked Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. This seems to imply the Elihu was indeed faithful and contrite… Thoughts? Shalom, Shalom
I had the same thoughts when I read through the book of job some time ago.
In chapter 32 Elihu begins his rebuke. Actually, it wasn't until after he spoke, when God stepped in and shut everybody down. Then after that, God commanded Job to pray for all his friends. Which indicated they all required His mercy and forgiveness. Elihu was indeed part of God's correction because he too misunderstood Job's calamity. Be blessed y'all!
Some scholars suggest Elihu was correct, but that wouldn't fit with sentiment that God also says in Job 42 that Job spoke what was right.
Other scholars have suggested that God ignoring Elihu suggests he was worst of all 4, if so my guess would be because of the false humility, angry, self righteous way he came at them.
Others still have suggested that either Elihu's part or the conclusion in chapter 42 (more likely) were added later and don't fit the narrative.
In either case, the question who is right is answered by Job's repentance but it's complicated by God saying Job spoke rightly, my opinion is that it's more important the heart in which we approach God and engage in relationships with his people than getting the right answers or winning arguments. Which is a hard lesson for me.
I'm so grateful for you brothers. I always look forward to your content and am so appreciative that you are dropping the whole shows again. Thank you again. God bless you! 🙏
I cannot tell you how on time this podcast episode was. Walking with a brother right now that is staring down the barrel of divorce… maintaining a level of humility, transparency and empathy are so important in moments like that. Praise God for you brothers!
Amen, Lee. So glad you are there for him and his family. Prayerfully they endure!
I enjoyed the bonus topics
This was powerful. Thank you.
Faithful listener love the podcast. I think you guys should look into a mic stand that moves so you can comfortably lean back and still be clear in the speakers 🔊

The book emotional intelligence 2.0 go crazy
This is good stuff
Could yall (or someone else) go into further explanation as to why Elihu was in the wrong? That is something I've never thought about. I always assumed that he wasn't in the wrong because he doesn't recieve condemnation from God like the other 3 friends. Thank you
Great question!
Can we get a baptism discussion brothers please thank you.
THIS? Is a great conversation with the book of JOB.
And think about it, the book of JOB?
Is a great conversation and dialogue between MEN OF GOD.
Any recommendations for what books by Willard I should check out?

The days are coming in which I will make the New Covenant with the Israel. In these days, I will put my Law in their bodies and write it on their hearts. I will be their King and they will be my people. And they will say no more: ''Know the King''. They will all know me. I will forgive their iniquity with Judah and I will remember their sin no more.
I'm back. The Kingdom is here.

I find it extremely troubling to hear Steven Furtick and T.D. Jakes talked about as if they are Christian pastors. Discernment and study is definitely needed. Word Faith Prosperity Theology is not Christian. It is different gospel - 2 Corinthians 11:4 and it is the doctrine of demons - 1 Timothy 4:1. I hope K.B. stops mentioning Dallas Willard, who promoted the pagan prayer practice called Contemplative Prayer. Pagans worship demons. Dallas Willard was not a Christian. Contemplative Prayer is not a Christian prayer practice. -Blessings from Tajji in Tanzania
Paul quotes pagan philosophers. Much can still be learned from the most misguided of souls. Don't be too arrogant that you miss a lesson.
@@okaywarren Your response is worrisome. My statement was not addressing learning practical knowledge from pagans... It was about learning the spiritual practice that God forbids Christians to engage in. Your response is off topic. Christians should engage pagans in a myriad of ways, but doing the spiritual practices that will cause one to have a spiritual experience with the demonic is unacceptable. Therefore, in that regard, Dallas Willard is deeply demonic and should be avoided. -Blessings from Tajji in Tanzania
are y'all in my closet??????? get oouuuutt
This was so enlightening but y’all. Go listen to a whole sermon from Steven Furtick and td Jake’s 😂. You can’t talk about them both and say you haven’t heard one whole sermon from either LOL. I’m not defending but you have to hear a whole thing before you poke fun. It was funny btw lol.
Also i would love to hear maybe a top 5 weekly listens for you guys. Like some solid Bible teachers that have impacted you. Either sermons or podcasts.
Ok this was nice but we have Holy Spirit now who teaches us all things.
